Slightly noob question regarding space and time

Hi all, a friend and I are working on our first characters and we were wondering how the site admins feel about characters who have been time displaced, e.g. waking up from stasis or lost in space type deals? Are they frowned upon, or...? Thanks for taking the time to help a noob out!
