DESCRIPTION

The animal companion of Thurion Heavenshield, Skywalker has pledged himself and his family to House Heavenshield and have nested in the City of Fridheim to the west, where Thurion serves as Warden. Midvinter's gryphons were once bred for war, where the most skilled and famous warriors rode them into battle and striking the enemy from above. So it shall be again, and so this unique and mastercrafted gryphon armor was forged with the old designs in mind.

The armor consists of several pieces of phrik plates on top of durasteel chainmail, with armorweave across the back as the bottom layer. The armor covers the head, chest, legs, back and sides. All-in-all this allows for protection against most forms of attacks, including energy weapons and lightsabers. Granted there are areas that remain unprotected, such as wings, tail, neck and underbelly, and a particular agile or patient opponent could get a decisive blow in if able to defend against such a ferocious creature long enough.

The armor is also beautifully adorned with insignias and engravings associated with House Heavenshield, most notably the Golden Lion.

While indeed exceedingly heavy by humanoid standards, it barely weighs the Midvinter gryphon down and does not impair his fighting abilities.

Very heavy.
These statements contradict each other all over. If it's very heavy, but doesn't impact the gryphon's mobility at all, then how is it a Weakness?

Given that the armor is very strong, I'd like to see its weight impact the animal in some way. Even light-weight war horses weighed more than your mount, and the medium-weight types which were mostly used by knights were usually about twice that weight. A horse can only carry about 20–30% of its weight, and even presuming that gryphons are somewhat stronger, we run into problems. Let's do some math:
  • Thurion: 120 kg
  • Thurion's equipment: 35 kg
  • Skywalker's armor: 50 kg
  • Total: 205 kg
Skywalker himself weighs 250 kg. That's a little more than 80% of his own weight that he'd be carrying into battle – not only carrying, but actually taking off the ground and circling through the air with all that pulling him down. Unfortunately, that's not gonna... fly. :|

In light of the above, please make the weight a real, feasible Weakness. Maybe it reduces his ability to fly and dodge projectiles. Maybe it tires him out faster. Maybe ________. Give me something solid here, and we'll see where we go from there.

Added the following:

Strengths:
  • The added weight and protection turns him into an unstoppable wrecking ball when he descends upon his foes.
Weaknesses:
  • It, combined with the rider's weight, reduces Skywalker's ability to take off once grounded as well as his ability to dodge missiles.
I'd be willing to reduce the weight if it helps make it feasible.

Nitpick, but we have to avoid that sort of language in submissions: nix the "unstoppable" bit, and this'll be good to go. :)
