Description:

Eschewing the heavy combat boots favored by many Jedi, Arisa decided to develop an alternate set of footwear that offered enhanced mobility and combat effectiveness in a discreet, attractive package. So the Skywalkers were born.

The hardened polymer and duraplast soles house the bulk of the electronic components. This includes the repulsor coils, electromagnetic field emitter, diatium cell, and dallorian-based energy sink for channeling excess electricity in the event of a surge. The rest of the shoe is made up of armor-weave, covered with a polymer layer of imitation leather. The laces are also constructed from armor weave. In a pinch, they can be used as a garrote.

Skywalkers have two basic modes of operation. In their default, low-powered state, the shoes do nothing but provide Arisa with some lightness to her step - mostly the passive effect of the repulsor coils. However, with three clicks of the heels, Skywalkers enter a high-powered state for increased mobility and combat maneuvers. Accelerometers and inertial sensors track her movements, automatically triggering the boost function (repulsor coils) to enhance her run speed and jumping length two-fold. As long as she's operating the Skywalkers within some kind of gravity well, she can use the boost function to maneuver mid-air. The electromagnetic field emitters also activate, enveloping the shoes within a protective containment field that shields them against lightsabers and energy bolts. The repulsor coils can also be used to deflect physical projectiles and enhance kicking blows by activating a repulsor field at the point of contact. Another series of three heel clicks will return the shoes to their low-powered state.

In the low powered state, Skywalkers can operate indefinitely, but the high-powered mode is much more demanding, draining the diatium cells within three hours of total use time. The cells can either be replaced by removing the gel insoles to get to the top of the soles, or they can be recharged wirelessly by setting them atop charging plates.

Hi [member="Arisa Yune"]! I will be reviewing this submission.

  • Accelerometers and inertial sensors both only track the speed and velocity of an object. They don't increase an object's speed.

  • How is this achieved when used in this manner if it requires clicking of heels to activate/deactivate the high powered state?

  • Does this protect only the shoes? If not, how large is this EMF?

Hello there. I never congratulated you on your promotion, so congrats now.

That is not the function of the sensors. They are for triggering the repulsor coils as certain motions are detected, which is what is doing the work of enhancing her movements. I can see where my writing may have led to some confusion there, so I made an edit.

The heel clicks are a specific gesture for toggling the between the different power states. Once they're toggled to a state, they remain that way until she makes another set of heel clicks. I edited it to say 3 clicks for the toggle. In the high-powered state, the repulsor coils activate for offensive purposes when she is making a kicking motion.

Only the shoes, so the ankles and above are vulnerable to attack if left unprotected.
