Skin My Senses

Sweeping her foot aside Maelasi twisted and brought both hands down onto the blade which threatened to slash her stomach. She took the hit to her face with a slight wince, and allowed the Force to once again pool around her hands as she stepped back and blocked the sword with both. Further cuts appeared, nowhere near as deep as they ought to have been, and a few drops of blood fell to the dusty ground.

She drew on the pain, allowed it to swirl within her, and then something odd happened. Her eyes shifted ever so slightly into a more orange hue, and she brought both hands forward with a loud battlecry that shook the foundations around them. The Force erupted from within her in a circular wave, sending dust and items that were not locked down across the courtyard.

In that instance she drew the lightsaber into her hand; while the cool metal stung her cut palms, she did her best to block it out. The sickly red blade was ignited, and while she took no standard stance it was still visibly defensive for now.

She sniffed, moving her jaw where she had been punched and feeling the tenseness of the muscles there. This time she did not leap, she watched and patiently waited as she had when in the shockboxing arena.

Vengeance smiled.........no it was more of a smirk. Even with her very life on the line she still hesitated. This was not good but it did explain her problems with the Force Hunters. She held fear and hesitation in her heart. Only when caged did she respond.

So Vengeance did something he knew would make absolutely no sense to her. Dropping from the guard he turned the blade pointing it to the ground in front of him. His hands resting gently on the pommel. He looked at her with a blank expression on his face and waited.

He didn't say a word to her he only waited. It was a bit of a mind game yes. One that would see not only how truly committed she was to being a warrior but how she handled the stress of not being taken seriously as one in such an overt way.

Hesitation?

Hardly.

Maelasi knew better than to constantly push the attack, there were times were careful calculation were required. Where baiting your opponent into making a mistake was a far swifter method of success. Her motions had her circling him, watching in an almost predatory manner. She could sense his amusement, he was weighing her up, he did not think that she had what it took. Perhaps right this moment she didn't, but she would.

She span the saber where it lay within her hand, building the momentum as she finally stepped forward. He wasn't going to, he had the upper hand here and they both knew it. But she would not allow it to confuse her, she would not allow frustration to mount, instead she remained as focused as ever.

With a very subtle gesture she wrapped the Force around him to pull him into the path of her lightsaber blade, which arced to the right - aiming from the shoulder down to the opposing waist. But she remained light on her feet, ready to step back with just a moments notice.
