SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Rotating cylinder magazines allow for either manually reloading the shotgun or swapping the cylinders for faster reloads. Swapping out the cylinders requires the user to carry a much heavier load for ammunition as they'll have to carry multiple cylinders.
  • Compatible with all types of 10 gauge loads - Dragon's Breath, Slug, High Explosive, Buckshot, Breaching Slug, Flechette, AP Dart, "Grape shot", Tazer Rounds. It's a shotgun, if you can fit it into a shell with some powder, it'll shoot it.
  • Like most double action style and single action style revolvers, this weapon rotates the cylinder and cocks the firing hammer at the same time. This makes firing and operation of the weapon system as simple as just repeatedly pulling the trigger.
  • Weapon system features picatinny mounts on the top side of the weapon system to allow for extreme ease of mounting to any weapon system with picatinny rails. And if the weapon system doesn't have these rails, it is also easily added with small modifications to either the shotgun or the weapon in question.

STRENGTHS
  • Shotgun: It's a shotgun. The boom stick. Tried and true solver of most if not any problems, there isn't many problems out there that a shotgun won't solve. And those that aren't initially solved with the use of a shotgun can be solved with more excessive and rapid applications of a shotgun.
  • Light and easily mounted: This weapon can be mounted onto almost any weapon system that's at least the size of rifle or sub-machine gun. Especially if it has a picatinny rail system. But even the lack of such attachment system only means you'll have to make some slight modifications to attach the weapon system.

WEAKNESSES
  • Short barrel: This weapon to operate the way it does requires a short barrel which significantly shortens the range. And while that normally wouldn't be a problem since it's initial design was to blow up door locks to forcibly open doors, it does limit it's adaptability to engage other targets.
  • Six round magazine: You have six shots, and then you have to reload by either popping the cylinder to the side and manually reloading each individual shell, or you have to replace the entire cylinder. And in a world of shotguns that have 10 or even 15 shots or speed loading magazines that are very light, this can be quite a chore.
  • Requires mount onto primary weapon: This is not a stand alone weapon system. It requires that you mount it to a rifle or some other primary weapon system to use this. Unless you want this thing to shoot out of your hand and hit you in the stomach.

DESCRIPTION
The Skeleton Key began as a part of Freebirds Industries question to what they should do for additional weapon modifications to put out with their rifle series weapons. Because they'd already gone through all of the usual suspects with grips, lasers, flashlights, even several under barrel grenade launchers, and then someone had a bright idea. Why not a shotgun? Their first thought was to take a look at the The Mule sidearm they'd created for commercial products, but they decided they'd need something slightly different for this attachment. Firstly, it had to shoot more than twice. Secondly, a single barrel would be utilized to make the shooting significantly more accurate since this thing wasn't going to be directly held by the shooter. And as such they designed the short barrel underslung shotgun with a rotating cylinder magazine that accepted a variety of rounds. It was technically a single action, semi-automatic shotgun, but really the simplest way to describe it is, you pull the trigger, it goes bang. That simple.
