Average Lifespan: 15 GSY
Races:
Skaxet-
Wild and impossible to tame, they are smaller than their tame brethren, and are far more cautious as a result. They are agile, and excel in climbing sparse vegetation where they may hunt down small mammals and birds. They are known to be particularly clever in their hunting patterns, setting up what appear to be diversionary tactics in order to confuse prey and lead them into their clutches. They are known to sneak into buildings to consume young Arue'tii, as well as to prey upon them in the woods. They also possess far fewer quills than their brethren, preferring to rely on their claws and jaws.

Skaxer-
The loyal and obedient pets of the Arue'tii. These are far larger than the smaller Skaxets, and possess many more quills upon their backs. They are capable of climbing, but are not capable of reaching the weaker branches that the Skaxet's may stand upon. They are pack predators, but do not rely on diversionary tactics to the extent of the smaller Skaxets, instead using either brute force or basic surround-and-kill tactics. Skaxers prefer larger prey, typically ignoring smaller animals except as snacks. They may be trained to react to certain commands, accepting even complex orders, though not to the extent of a sentient.

General behavior: Predatory and aggressive. If domesticated, they remain loyal and protective of their masters.
History:
For centuries, the Skaxen as a species preyed upon the young and unprotected children of the Arue'tii. This had become such a problem that it was not uncommon for families to lose multiple children during the same day from different Skaxen. Attempts at exterminating the vicious species were unsuccessful as the hunters could not give chase to many areas where smaller Skaxen were able to escape. A new plan was necessary. Larger and easier to find Skaxen were captured, and throughout a long period of time were domesticated. These beings were dubbed Skaxers while their wild brothers were known as Skaxets. The Skaxers were trained to be loyal to their owners, and being larger than the Skaxet's, were capable of intimidating them away from homes and thus protecting any offspring residing within. They became a pivotal animal for use in hunting, and later were used by the Ascendants in the Ascendant War.

Notable Player-Characters: N/A
