As long as Skaða can remember, he has always been wanting to see other worlds, experience other cultures and see new wonders. But, his father, Hávarðr, had other priorities and wanted it to stay the way his father and his father before him had done it. Hávarðr saw it as a fool's errand and always favoured the Old Ways of living, which entailed staying within the system by which they lived.
Ironically, what had become the Old Way of living, was as far from the ideals and values of the Mandalorian ancestors who first took root. Frustrated by his father's narrow and unambitious sight of the future for his people, Skaða decided to visit the seers by the Warden tree, Mímameiðr, for guidance, for only a Seer can translate the Guardians' wishes and intentions.
Upon visiting the seers, Skaða sought the counsel of the Guardians regarding his desire to explore the galaxy. The seers gave Skaða good news, saying the Guardians desire him to have a great future, but that they can withdraw their goodwill at any time. When Skaða asked if he should challenge his father's rule or be patient, the seers gave him a vague answer, leaving a dissatisfied Skaða to ponder the Seers' words.
Deciding upon taking the patient road, Skaða waited upon the natural death of his old man. After a lavish funeral and blót, clan Ylfings held a clan-wide meeting at the local Þing where all the Jag(freemen) also known as Frjáríðs(free to war) would debate over who of the candidates would be able to claim the title as Alor of the clan.
Fortunately for Skaða, he had managed to gather great support on top of being an accomplished Rúnasmiður, meant that Skaða won with the majority of the votes. Having finally managed to claim his father's seat as the new Alor of clan Ylfings, Skaða was ready to look to the future and unlike his father's cautious mind, Skaða wanted the clan to return to the roots of what their ancestors did.
