'Extraordinary afflictions are not always the punishment for
extraordinary sins, but sometimes the trial for extraordinary graces.'
Denon, a city world similar to Coruscant.
The planet resided in the heart of enemy territory, among a collection of planets controlled red arsed baboons. Why Baboons? Gravis referred to those he didn't like as walking monkeys. Those who held his unrivaled contempt? They got something a bit more specific. In this instance, red arsed baboons. Yet Jedi were not the reason Darth Gravis traveled to a territory some may have feared. Oh no. Today wasn't about a war among factions. Today was about something emotionally raw. Darth Gravis had been wronged and in a way that was most unforgivable.
Among the One Sith, Darth Gravis had developed a reputation as being the pacifist. A man whom would avoid conflict, do what he could to find a way around fighting, but still get what he wanted. That was only partly true. The Knight did do what he could to work around a potential fight and he always got what he wanted. He didn't avoid all conflict however. There were certain things that would force his hand without hesitation and today was about one of those things.
Sitting at an outdoor table, the Knight quietly ate a slice of pepperoni pizza. Dressed in an obnoxiously loud outfit, the man was dressed in a manner that was meant to help him pass as one of the common folk of Denon. Perhaps he went a little overboard in his choice of clothing. Darth Gravis was unique among the force users of the galaxy. He wasn't impressively touched by the force. He couldn't make it rain lightning bolts nor could he absorbed force abilities. He was gifted with the abilities of a lightsaber. He rivaled Lords and Masters in his uncanny natural ability with the blade. The flip side was his force abilities were lacking. The Knight had an already weak impression on the force and he, himself, could not feel another force user unless they were within a short distance. This meant any competent Jedi or Sith could track him.
Then how would Gravis counter such an issue? Two ways. He was constantly aware of his surroundings. He also held his saber close at all times. He was no fool. He acknowledged his weakness and worked to his strengths. That's what his Lady Silencia had always trained him to do. So why then had the events that brought him here initially caught him off guard?
Now that was the question.
Glancing up and across the street, his ice blue eyes watched the ebb and flow of people as they carried on with their daily lives. The man checked his watch, then stared at the door to a bank. He took a quiet bite of his pizza. A chew. A swallow. Another check of his watch. Then it happened. The explosion shot outwards from inside a bank. The Knight lowered his head as a wave of hot hair rushed through the area. Then there was a moment of silence. An eerie silence that followed as in the few seconds after the initial explosion people were still overcome with shock. Quietly Jake stood with a calm unbefitting the normal response to any kind of explosion one would naturally expect and set some money on the table. Lifting his messenger bag, which hid several key items inside, the Knight began to walk down the street.
Like Kashyyk. Like Tholatin. Like Altier.
This had been beautiful clockwork. Precise and accurate.
After putting on his earbuds, Gravis hit the button on his small musical device and listened to the only song he owned.
It was time to get to work. It was time to right the wrong.
