- Discrete: This is a robe and does necessarily draw much attention. The large hood can help keep the user's face hidden.
- Blunt force: The fabric is relatively thick and offers marginally better protection against kinetic damage like blunt force from physical attacks or falling. Still, it is a piece of cloth and at the end of the day, it does not have the same function as actual armour.
- Good in all weathers: Whether it be fire, water, biting cold or other elements, this robe will protect its user against it in a better way than the average robe.
- Low encumbrance: These are simple robes and does not add much to the wearer's encumbrance. In short, they are easy to move around in.
- The 'look': Jedi robes are recognised among large swaths of the galactic population.
- Limited combat usefulness: These robes are not very useful in combat - they offer little in terms of protection.
The Simple Jedi Robes are designed according to age-old customs with a relatively simple and elegant design. While the robes are not particularly useful in combat, they do give the wearer more flexibility and less encumbrance than armoured pieces.
Often times, the Simple Jedi Robes consists of an undertunic, an overtunic with a broad sash by the waist and then an outer robe. This varies from user to user, however and many forgo using the outer robe in order to add to their mobility. Others forgo the tunics and simply wear the outer robe on top of armour. The robe is typically characterised by its wide sleeves and deep hood. To many, the clothes can seem simple - in particular the outer robe. Others will recognise that the apparel is typically worn among Jedi - naturally, the likelihood of recognition increases when more traditional elements can be seen in the design the wearer have selected.
The fabrics used to craft these robes are all specialised to ensure that they can withstand punishment. It can withstand a bit of wear and tear. Particularly, the Simple Jedi Robes are rather well suited to resist the elements. They can withstand very hot environments without catching fire, they are not encumbered by water and they protect the user against extreme temperatures.
