Dagobah System | SRC-03 "The Claw" | Jo'henry-Class | NPC : Mr.Zej | [member="Kaia Starchaser"]

Two salvaging vessels slowly trawled through the wreckage, sounds of metal scraping against metal at an alarming rate despite the slow speed. The sound used to disturb the teenage half-Galan in control of the SRC-03, what little kid learning to salvage with his father wouldn't have been? Time and education had stopped most of the fear. Anyone would be a fool not to recognize the inherent dangers of salvaging. His father saw to it that Makai knew how easily it was to lose his own life or the life of a crew member.

Chatter went between the crews of the Claw and the Jo'henry even as the vessels drew closer to larger pieces of wreckage. The Dagobah battle was barely over, the salvage had little time to sit in the open and wait. He was one of the first salvagers to scout the area. Makai volunteered to look around first with Mr.Zej before bringing in a large contingent of vessels. It was dangerous to bring in everyone at first. Pirates. Sith. Lingering war ships.

Iced azure gaze flickered over various sensors. Getting a reading could be difficult in salvage fields. Keeping a head on a swivel and an eye on the console was the best any of them could do at the moment.

Kaia shook her head. She was back salvaging the wrecks left behind by the war of the First Order and the Galactic Alliance. Or maybe the Empire, or another. She didn’t care. She knew that there were lives lost because of these wars. Not the Jedi way at all. But she couldn’t stop it. What could she do, really? Tell her father to demilitarize the Alliance? That wasn’t going to happen. And they were fighting the dark side.

The issue was all the other lives lost in the war. The Gentes-freighter the ‘Corellian Dawn’ had reverted to real space in the local space around Dagobah. Kaia was at the helm and directing the release of some of the salvage drones. There were two other vessels nearby. She looked to her Quarth communications officer.

“Get us a line to those two vessels.” She ordered and stared out into space. “Vessels in the Dagobah debris field. This is the Corellian Dawn, of Starchaser Enterprises, identify yourself.” She didn’t exactly have weapons but if the ships were from someone unfriendly? They were going to be leaving quickly.

"Crews, might wanna start getting ready."

Makai had his eye on one of the biggest pieces of salvage floating out in the black, nearly half a piece of vessel. There were others floating around but nearly not as large. Boots were going to hit the 'ground' and scout out if it had anything valuable inside - consoles, engine bay, various bits of sensitive equipment. If so, more Salacia vessels would be called in, roughly a half a day away by hyperspace.

Comm crackled, voice coming over. Who died and made this woman Queen of Salvage.

"Salacia Consolidated." Makai muted the comm and debated, supposing he would have to play nice. "How can we help you Corellian Dawn?"

The Corellian Dawn was waiting to see what the other ship was going to do, but until it made some moves, well, it was going to continue on its path to the debris field. The Alliance was lucky that there were people out there to clean up the mess. And with her father’s role in the government, her company was always given a free hand and pass to get in there. Kaia was always willing to share, but first it meant that she needed to prioritize what she was going after.

And mostly, it was smaller ships. Their parts could be refined quicker, and she was looking for more raw materials in this salvage. Looking at her crew, she was waiting to see what the ship was calling itself when it arrived.

“Salacia, huh? Didn’t hear word you all were coming here. Got you guys on our green list. Your boss know my boss?”

Probably a thing. Coren knew a lot of the other spacers around. “You looking to claim anything in specific here? We’re just going for smelting things, so we can pull away from your prizes.”

"Isn't that the point of salvage? Don't tell the other guy where you're going?"

Honey-holes or something of another. Typically there was always enough salvage to go around at battlesites such as these. Makai had been working them since a young age and he remembers staying weeks in certain locations even with other salvagers out collecting their own profits. Taking in what was around them it seemed a similar situations.

"Just that large piece in front of us. You're welcome to have first crack at if its already been claimed. Don't need to step on any toes."

Teenage half-Galan scratched the back of his neck, trying to figure out who she was. Salacia typically didn't work in this area so he was going to safely go on a limb and say no.

"Your boss is who? Probably not, we don't come out around here normally. Given recent events..."

She looked at the comm and shook her head. Yeah, the guy did have a point. A big part of all this was getting to where you needed to be before everyone else. But another part was safety in numbers. She knew that when she was out asteroid mining, pirates seemed to leave you be when you had friends about. Besides, who knew what mining vessels had laying in wait, or on board. Part of her was worried about these other salvagers, but well, her father had mentioned this company, so how bad could they be? “Most of the time. But well… Working alongside the Alliance for a bit.”

Not going to say it was her father’s idea. No, sir.

“Nah, we’re heading for the smaller things, what could cause an issue. Alliance contracted us to get rid of things that can be a navigation issue.” She shrugged to herself.

“And Starchaser Enterprises, so, Coren Starchaser is the CEO. I’m Kaia, operations chief. Gives us a bit of speed dial to the Alliance fleet, but… Y’all are fine in our book. Don’t have to worry about them showing up.” She laughed.

Makai made a small face at the mention of the Alliance, thankful Kaia couldn't see him. He didnt have problem with the Alliance but some his fathers ideals had rubbed off on him about Jedi and their place in wars and government. Yet he wouldn't pass up an Alliance contract if credits were offered - work was work and the government didnt seem to enslave anyone, so there was that.

"So none of the large pieces?" That seemed odd to him but Makai was reminded that not every salvage operation tended to deal with the larger pieces. Salacia thrived on it - finding it more of a niche market few tended to touch. "Either way will be giving you decent berth Kaia, just let us know if we're in your way..."

Iced azure eyes narrowed slightly at the mention of the Alliance showing up, a small threat? One could never be too sure out in the depths of space. Makai didn't consider himself a suspicious person normally but on the job - that was different. Space and salvaging was relatively dangerous. No one was going to save his hide if they ran into the wrong people or pissed off other salvagers. Sounds like this one had the ability and connections to get him arrested by the Alliance with nothing more than a snap of her fingers.
