INFORMATION
Name: Sidonis Vaecorum Lydeck
Nickname: Cid
Lineage:
House Lydeck
Origin: Kilia IV, Unknown Regions
Bloodline: Colony Zabrak Father, Human Mother
Species: Zabrak
Faction: Kilian Rangers, TKO
Rank: Squire
Force Sensitive: Yes
Philosophy: Potentium

APPEARANCE
Age: Twenty Eight Standard Years
Height: Five Foot Eleven Inches
Weight: Seventy Eight Kilograms
Skin Colour: Olive
Eye Colour: Lavender
Hair Colour: Jet Black
Hairstyle: Sidonis has long shoulder length hair which is slightly curly. The top is usually brushed or combed to the side, sometimes parted down the middle while the back is loosely tied in a ponytail.
Facial Hair: During his travels he tends to let his facial hair grow. He trims it occasionally to keep it tidy and presentable though he prefers the feeling of a fresh shave. When Sidonis finds himself amongst more civilized company he removes his facial hair and dons his fresh and clean persona which reflects his noble upbringing.
Eyebrows: Thick but not wild or bushy. They are neatly shaped. His left eyebrow is separated at the tip and is segmented by a thin scar which divides its length.
Scars/Markings: Small scars and marks are thinly scattered across the entirety of Sidonis body, the product of vigorous training and his duties as a Kilian Squire. Bacta has helped reduce the scarring and skin discolorations of small scratches and wounds but prominent scarring can still be seen, more so the scar which runs along the bridge of his nose. What many would assume as a wound of battle is actually the by product of his arrogance.
Crown: Because of his Fathers blood Sidonis has inherited the dominant gene of the Zabraks crowned skull, a distinctive trademark of the race. Unlike the majority of his Fathers bloodline his crown is adorned with only a single horn located in the center of his forehead
Tattoos: Unlike the many Zabrak and male Dathmorian, Sidonis does not possess the definitive facial tattoos that is usually paired with his race. As his Mother is of noble blood her opinions were taken into consideration and she chose not to don the markings of his Father, feeling it may stigmatize her sons title of Nobility on Kilia IV.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
+MOUNTain Ranger: Kilia IV and its inhabitants live a life that is not bound to modern advanced technologies. In particular the forms of transport available to the Kilians are animals and animal driven carriages with the exception of the occasional speeder which is usually owned by a Noble. Despite living as a Noble to a respectable Family, House Lydeck did not possess such transport and instead relied on saddled mounts. Sidonis has thus developed an affinity for travelling on the backs of beasts and feels more attuned to the drum of a heartbeat than the ignition of an engine.
+Arte of Deflection: Sidonis treats his shield gauntlet as an extension of himself and wields it with proficiency, much like a Jedi and their lightsaber. Because of the shields unique defensive capabilities, and his connection to the Force, the Kilian is able to deflect projectiles away from himself or back towards the aggressor. In addition his defensive skills are not limited to single fired shots as he is capable PPof defending against automatic fire. Although he may fail to perform more specialized abilities with the Force his enhanced reflexes and skill in deflection balance his shortcomings.
+Equipment Maintenance: A skill born of repetition rather than innate talent, Sidonis has been dismantling and reassembling the exotic equipment used by Kilian Rangers of House Lydeck for more than a decade. What begun as a routine chore at the end of each assignment or training has now manifested into an understanding of maintenance and its importance. Sidonis is able to replace parts, modify components and assemble pieces from technology he is familiar with. Consequently his exposure to modern and advanced technology is limited due to life on Kilia IV.
+/-Weapon Specialist (Siang + Shield Gauntlet): Both his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. Sidonis has trained with the Shield and Siang since his Squire initiation over a decade ago. He is comfortable with the Siangs balance and knows the diameter of his shield to the millimeter. Essentially they are extensions of his own appendages and they are used just as naturally. The downside to this is that he has ONLY trained with these two armaments thus new weapons feel uncomfortable and are less effective in his hands.
+/-Force Archetype: As a Kilian Ranger of House Lydeck, Sidonis has been molded to follow a very specific path along the Force. This gives him an edge to his specific method of combat and he is able to utilize his abilities as best he can, but that also means he struggles to grasp new skills that branch off into other categories of the Force.
-Alien: As a resident of Kilia IV from birth to his Twenty Fifth birthday Sidonis is uninformed when it comes to the political and power struggles within the Galaxy. He often identifies identical technologies and species yet the rest is new to the Ranger who hails from the Unknown Region. His ignorance and misunderstanding of different cultures is what often sparks conflict, despite his intentions being non aggressive.
-"I call Shotgun": Sidonis was never granted an opportunity to pilot a vehicle and has never expressed any interest. Consequently his skills in piloting (land, sea, air and space) is minimal at best. Since his move from the Unknown Regions he has relied on Public transport or the spines of creatures and mounts. When possible he will avoid piloting at all costs.

INVENTORY AND EQUIPMENT
Upper Body: His torso is covered in layers of fine cloth and high quality leather. Due to his Noble upbringing Sidonis is often well dressed yet his fashion does not hinder its practicality. Despite its somewhat flashy tone the attire worn over the torso offers protection against the elements as well as most shrapnel.
-Shirt: White long sleeved tunic with collar, typically worn by most nobles and aristocrats.
-Collar: Dark red loose collar tie which lies above the shirt and beneath the undercoat. This is only worn during formal occasions when one must look presentable.
-Short Undercoat: A chocolate brown soft hide jacket with a long collar worn between the shirt and the overcoat. The collar folds down towards his chest and the length of the jacket reaches slightly below his waist. Its base purpose is simple aesthetics and compliments the overall attire in general. Despite its visual function it still offers warmth and some protection from the elements.
-Duster: A thick black leather coat made of Kilian Bantha hide, one of the few native species on his Home World. It extends past his shins and offers protection against the elements, and shrapnel damage. It provides minimal protection from edged weapons but not blasters.
Arms: Above his attire Sidonis wears one of the Rangers unique tools, the Shield Gauntlet.

-Shield Gauntlet: A small personal shield produced by a generator worn on the off forearm which is used to deflect or absorb energy weapons and projectiles. The shields diameter is less than a meter and takes on the form of a concave disk of clear energy, taking no real color. As one would expect this shield requires a suitable amount of energy, and unlike lightsabers the energy does not loop back. Instead a small battery pack is replaced much like an ammo cell on a gun.
.Type: Personal Energy Shield
.Range: 1 meter diameter
.Battery life: Multiple uses or 10 posts continously
.Notes: Acts much like a gungan energy shield
Lower Body: description
Feet: Sidonis wears a pair of shin high boots crafted from the same leather a his duster. They are heavy duty and completely water proof. They are black, with a zip on the sides with laces to tighten.
Holster: Crafted from Kilian Bantha hide, one of the few native species of Kilia IV. The holster has been tanned and reinforced to endure harsh environments and weather. A sheath which holsters his Siang Saber rests on the left hip and a few extra pockets and small storage compartments are scattered around the belt. These pockets are only large enough to carry small items such as clips, communication devices and holo projectors.

-Siang Blade: A DE-10 blaster pistol outfitted with a short blade bayonet. The D-10`s standard barrel has been replaced with a double barrel so that the short blade can rest between the twin chambers. This modification adjusts the original weapons center aim and also poses risk of warping the blade if the blade overheats. This is usually due to repeated fire over an extended period of time. The blade itself is dismantled from an old vibroblade in House Lydecks armory. The scope has also been removed as was deemed unnecessary and a unique modification to the handle has been made. By pulling the aesthetic trigger the handle snaps into one of two positions, the standard pistol angle at 45 degrees allowing for superior ranged accuracy, or when the handle runs the same length of the blade. This weapon was crafted by Sidonis`s own hands under his Mothers supervision. Much like the Jedi and Sith a certain ritual (or rite) must be taken while crafting the weapon in order to attain a personal connection to the object. The blade was in fact a relic, a short sword used by an ancestor long returned to the Force, during a time forgotten by many. The blaster was his Fathers, a normal Zabrak brought up in Kilian society with a dedication to hard work, honesty and honor. The Siang Saber is designed around the Siang Lance`s concept ranged and melee combat rolled into one weapon. Although this is not a traditional lance, it is similar in function if not less effective. Because of the base model used for the Siangs ranged function, the Saber holds less ammunition than a traditional lance. The blade is also shorter.
.Type: Blaster Pistol with bayonet
.Clip: 25 shots
.Range: 65 meters
.Blade length: 50 centimeters
.Blaster color: Blue
.Special modifications: Handle to Hilt Mode (vice versa)
.Notes: The Siang Saber can only fire when in handle mode as the shift realigns the ammunition cells to the chamber.
-Ammunition Cells: A pair of DE-10 compatible ammo cells which are secured against his holsters belt
-Battery pack: A standard rechargeable battery unit that powers the Shield Gauntlet on Sidonis forearm. The unit has enough energy to power the device across multiple encounters and can be charged by most power consoles.

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
Plague Outbreak:
A long time ago, in a Galaxy far far away,
It is the year xxxx ABY and a darkness has been unleashed,
Governments fall and entire systems go dark with the release of the Gulan Plague.
Meanwhile a small group of researchers aligned with the Alliance attempt to communicate with HQ but their efforts are met with silence.
With no word from their allies and dwindling resources, the team must find a way to survive within the Unknown Regions,
Unbeknownst to them they would never set eyes on Galactic space again.

Location: Satellite orbiting uninhabitable Planet, Somewhere near Kilia System, Unknown Region

Quartermasters Log: "Its been six months since we`ve heard from headquarters and five since we received out last shipment of supplies. Folks here are starting to panic and I don’t blame them. We are running low of food, medicine and the greenhouse isn`t replenishing itself fast enough to feed us all. *Sigh* This damn plague…..its changed everything…..What the hell are we going to do now? There`s no going back to Galactic Space….not yet anyway"

The Gulan Plague slowly crawled to nearly every single corner of the Galaxy, killing billions and leaving entire Planets and Cities barren. Before its fall the Galactic Alliance had outposts scattered across the Unknown Regions, one in particular located near the Kilia System which received shipments every few months. As a research outpost located in Wild Space their deployment was often for long periods of time with staff rotations occurring once every standard year. That changed.

First the communications went dead, not just from Headquarters, but from many allied frequencies. Hails were left unanswered and pleas for help were met with silence. To make matters worse the next scheduled resupply did not arrive further adding to the looming atmosphere. With dwindling supplies and a limited replishing stock the outposts occupants were left with no choice but to load the small shuttle and depart. The only problem was that they could not return to Familiar Space. They were aware of the plague and needed to go somewhere isolated, but more importantly habitable.

Fire from the skies:
Location: Kilia IV, Unknown Regions

Pilots Log: "This is bad….we`ve taken too many hits and I cant pick up anything on the holocharts. Thrusters are at 12%, shields are almost depleted and life support systems are failing. Damnit! I`m sure the intel said its here…."

Kilia IV was a harsh Planet which challenged its inhabitants survival on a daily basis. Its surface was almost completely barren save for a few valleys which housed the majority of life. Inside these Valleys were small townships with architecture that reminisced a more medieval tone with the technology to match. Despite the leaps and bounds being made around them Planet managed to sustain a rather modest lifestyle, with the exception of a few advanced gadgets and vehicles being in a nobles possession.
One morning the sky was particularly bright and as Kilia IV`s residents woke to start their day a ball of fire erupted from the sky. On closer inspection pieces of metal and plasteel were peeling off as the alien shuttle entered the Planets atmosphere with a long trail of thick grey smoke. The inhabitants have had a long and bloody relationship with slavers and if not for the Rangers protection they could have succeeded. The nobles were the first to react and responded by sending their Rangers to the crash site. With lances ready they approached, anxious yet brave and prepared to kill for Kilias safety.

The airlock opened to reveal men and woman in civilian clothing sharing a similar emblem, the logo of the Galactic Alliance. Having encountered their allies in the past the refugees were welcomed into the Kilians humble society but with limited technology they were unable to repair their shuttle. With no chance of leaving the Planet, and the limited flow of Space Traffic, the research members were forced to integrate into society.

This is how his Fathers descendants came to this isolated Planet.

House Lydeck:
Location: Northern Valley, Kilia IV, Unknown Regions

Security Log: "Its been something like 8 years since we crashed on this rock and I gotta say….I don’t miss a thing. I`ve seen a few old model speeders and a few individuals holding a blaster or flettetche pistol but all in all life is honest. You wake up in the morning and plough the field with a bantha in tow. And the air…..by the force…..I`ve never smelt the air so clean before. It may not be Coruscant…….but its safe"

Years passed and Galactic Space began to calm after the Plagues spread. From the ashes new governments rose and life slowly returned. Kilia IV had experienced generations of prosperity due to lack of interstellar travel and emptied space lanes, and its people were happy. The Kilian Rangers had also experienced growth along with a small Noble Family, House Lydeck. Two centuries of peace led to a boom in population. To prevent overcrowding another settlement was established near the North cap, protected and overseen by the House and its Rangers.

House Lydeck was charged with its citizens safety and had successfully done so for the next hundred and thirty years. This is the lineage of his Mother.

Sidonis the Squire:
Elders Memoirs: "My dear daughter. You are my eldest child and I hold you closest to my heart. My Father and I have laid the foundations of this House but because of tradition you will not be handed my mantle, no…….that responsibility is to be handed to your younger Brother. If only you were born a man, you`d make an honorable Lord. But I have no fear for I know you two will work together and strive to uphold our Families values and responsibilities. You are both strong in the Force…..use your talents to protect the innocent"

The Gulan Plagues reign of terror subsided and symptoms of its presence disappeared from the Galaxy. Kilia IV was more or less left undisturbed for two centuries with the exception of a few opportunistic slavers and raiders. House Lydeck proved itself capable as the settlements protector with the mantle now in the hands of the twin Rangers, Sidonis Mother and Uncle. Due to rules of succession the leadership was passed down to the Lords eldest son, yet the siblings shared responsibility and continued to build the Families legacy. His Mother, a lady of a Noble House and a Kilian Ranger sensitive in the Force, found love in a Zabrak male whos origins could be traced back to the Galactic Alliance crash survivors. Despite her Brothers objection she turned down more socially superior candidates for a middle classed citizen, and once they were wed they had a child, a boy born of Zabrak and Human blood.

His upbringing was similar to many other children born into nobility. He was entitled to a life of privilege and education yet his title carried with it a sense of responsibility. By age 6 his force sensitivity began to manifest. Unlike the Jedi the Kilian Rangers did not separate children from their Families, instead they preferred to wait until their candidates hit puberty before training began.

Awesome, I was hoping to hunt you down through the boards as your character seems to be the only Ranger related one.
I have a lot of kinks to iron out but I`m open to suggestions

OK, so here's what I've got.

Basic basic idea is that, after Kilia reconnected with the galaxy around 5-10 ABY, a bunch of people went there looking for a simpler life or just kind of medieval tourism. Then when the Gulag and the Dark Age hit, they were stuck there and had to live the medieval lifestyle for real alongside the locals. So there was a big population expansion, but it's all still confined to mountain valleys (sort of has to be on Kilia IV), and all still centered on the main original valley. There are a bunch of Kilian Rangers, some independent, others serving various noble houses. Functional Siang lances and shield gauntlets are pretty rare; most of the Rangers that I've written about use actual shields and spears. For example, here's the spear that Mara uses: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/76043-merrill-kilian-spears/

Here are the Kilia IV threads I've done. They focus on a couple of small areas; I didn't want to establish too much or get in the way of future RPers.

To explain minimal numbers of Kilian Renegades, I made this:

Feel free to have a copy of the un-annotated original, or to use my Kilian Ranger NPCs (Lord Adelar Tionc and his son Germaine).

Thanks for that, ill be sure to read the links and hopefully we can shine a bit of light on the Rangers.
I may have a functioning shield gauntlet but not lance. I quite like the idea of a siang lance too, but if they are limited I may just make an improvised version as i go along.
What im trying to figure out are the force powers to have. I was thinking along the lines of augmentation, deflection and limited telekinisis. But again, id appreciate your input

[member="Lydeck"]

That's how I've played it, yeah: Rangers can make themselves faster and stronger, are really good at deflecting things with their shields, and can even deflect things with TK. I also throw in some short-term precog/combat instincts.
