Showdown at Skye (INVITE ONLY Resistance/First Order)

Strike Team
Refueling Station
Engaging TIEs

After emerging from lightspeed, Tugoro was surprised to find the gigantic Stardestroyer casting an ominous shadow below. Diverting all non-essential power to the thrusters and shields of the Aleph, Tugoro would pilot the Starfighter at insane speeds through the vacuum of space, advancing on the refueling station and flying along it with precision. The Imperial craft stuck close to the other members of Black Squadron, striking the weaknesses of the station just as they did.

With a small amount of energy in the weapons system, Tugoro pushed down on a button on his console, firing two concussion missiles forward. A large explosion would sound out, as [member="Alexandra Russo"], [member="Dex Bastion"], and himself pulled up and away from the fireworks. Upon hearing the woman's voice over his comms, the Jedi would frown before glancing to his sensors, noticing the many TIE fighters that were heading their way.

Leveling out the Aleph with his flight controls, Tugoro would also jerk them to the side, coming around in a full turn as he formed up with the other pilots and their Starfighters. A channel would be opened over the comms as Tugoro pressed a button, speaking into his headset to the others, "I can try to draw a large number of them away, and lead them into a trap," the Jedi suggested, knowing that his ship was fast enough to evade for a certain amount of time. It was up to whatever the squadron leader had in mind, though.

[member="Evelin Redstar"] was not the only one whose attention was caught by the message on her datapad. Nara who was sitting next to the princess squinted her eyes as she watched it fully knowing what was at stake. Nara was sat upright, consumed by her nerves at the thought of this day potentially being her last. "You can do this Nara" she whispered to herself as the Princess tucked away her datapad.

Nara was already nervous enough, the ship engaging in space acrobatics certainly did not help her at all. The sound of scratching could be heard as Nara gripped tightly onto her seat as if it would help her it with the ship hurtling through( what it seemed like) the Galaxy. Nara let out a loud gasped and lurched forward as the ship finally came to a halt. Nara's brown eyes opened and widened at the joke [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] decided to crack. "No offense, but never again" Nara replied, not even sure that he could hear her.

Nara had barely regained her mind when she was grabbed by Evelin, causing a gasp to escape her lips. Of course instinct kicked in and she followed the princess quickly whilst tightly gripping her blaster. Things got out of hand pretty fast as enemies approached them and allies engaged. Nara was yet to notice the Princess was taking cover behind a crate but she did notice an approaching guard. Adrenalin kicked in and she fired a blaster for the first time. The sudden blast caused her to flinch and she lost aim and missed the guard who did however dive out of the way. Fear caused her to look around frantically, she suddenly saw the comforting sight of the Princess and without a second thought quickly joined her behind the crate. Nara leaned her back against the crate and jokingly exclaimed to the Princess "why?! why do i let you talk me into these things?!"

"Copy that, Alleycat," Riggs said over the comm as he made visual confirmation of the TIE's pouring out from under the belly of the Star Destroyer.

There was some chatter on the comms. The sound of one of the pilots chimed in something about leading to a trap. Why did people always have to be the hero. Heroes got killed in battle and that was the first rule. Well seasoned soldiers like Russo and Riggs got that way by being smart, not heroes. Heroics had their place, but not when the job was not the primary objective. They were the distraction, that meant they had to draw this out as long as possible.

"Give them something to shoot at, but remember the objective here, [member="Tugoro Taidarious"]. We have to keep their attention off the infiltration team. That means we need to take this fight where the big guns on that thing can't get us. If it starts helping the TIE's were toast."

Riggs was feeling like the navy captain all over again. He was sounding like it too. Damon knew he might have to apologize to Russo later for jumping in on that suggestion, but this was no time for heroes, it was time for them to work like a team. It was too late to think about that anyway as Riggs busy working on dealing with several TIE's on the squadrons six. His job was to keep them clear. His gunners took out a couple while Riggs focused on flying. He was really wishing Russo was flying his ship about now. She was the pilot, he was the Captain. He did his best work in a fight like this on bridge where he could see an entire map.

"We got some! Russo, I really could use a bridge and map view of this fight. This is definitely not what I'm used to!"

[member="Zamza Ra'Kira"] provided the cover that the general had requested, though not quite in the way he'd expected. A gigantic cargo crate hurdled over his head, scattering a squad of stormtroopers like bowling pins. Khin shook his head; he'd never understand the Force, but he was always glad when it was on his side. Seizing his moment, he ran for the ramp leading up to the hangar control station, firing his blaster over his shoulder to keep his enemies in cover. He had to admit, it felt good to feel the kick of the weapon against his palm again. He'd spent far too long planning from behind a desk, far away from the pumping adrenaline of battle.

The control room doors were locked, but he'd expected as much. Blasting the door panel, he knelt beside it and reached past the freshly-melted sides of the metal to grasp at the wires beneath. Cutting several apart with a flick of his claws, he twisted them back together in a different pattern; he'd worked with countless systems like this, and knew exactly what to do. Completely focused, he hardly noticed the blaster bolts flying around him until one caught him in the shoulder, burning into the leatheris pauldron he wore and knocking him sideways. Sithspit. He had to give credit where it was due - First Order stormtroopers were excellent marksmen.

But he was a tough old bantha, and he could take it. Gritting his teeth and blinking his eyes to clear the spots, the general checked the damage. The pauldron had taken most of it, with a little singed fur visible beneath. He'd be fine, but he needed to get into cover. Quickly twisting the last wires into place with one hand while he returned fire wildly with the other, he watched as the control room doors slid open. He pulled a grenade from his jacket, primed it, and threw. Three. Two. One. The cryoban grenade went off, freezing the very air around the startled hangar crew, and Khin followed the weapon inside. Time to find a working terminal.

He'd fried a few of them, ice crystals annihilating their delicate inner workings, but one had remained functional. It wasn't even necessary to slice it; the crew had been logged in. Basic schematics were easy to obtain, though the terminal didn't have security clearance for more than that. Still, he knew where to find the maglocks and tractor beam controls. The mission could proceed. Bringing up his wrist comm, he transmitted his findings to the rest of the strike team. "Targets identified and marked for you," he said. "Mag-lock team, we're headed along the western hallway."

Little did the general know that a fearsome figure in Mandalorian armor awaited them there...

skin, bone, and arrogance
The Princess leaned around the corner of the crate and aimed her blaster rifle. Two more shots, and a First Order stormtrooper was floored. She was about to take another shot when she saw another crate shift, then fly across the hold. Her jaw dropped and she was caught off guard by a blaster bolt, which sizzled in front of her, close enough to burn the gasp of air she took in. Evelin dropped back into cover, her dark eyes blinking closed a few time to clear the burned-in image of the blaster bolt. "Push!" she called to her team, and she led by example, charging around the corner of the crate, blasting straight ahead. The stoormtrooper that almost fried her went down, a flaming hole in his chestpiece, and she moved towards the blast doors.

She threw herself into cover again, just in time to dodge another hail of blaster bolts. "We don't have time for this," she called into the channel for her team. "Any ideas?" She peeked around the corner in time to see another squad of troopers arriving. Stang!
