Ask anyone, ryyk blades are notoriously heavy and difficult to wield proficiently, even for Wookiees just learning to use them. Their size, weight, and often their shapes make them poorly-suited to smaller and weaker species and individuals, and without sufficient time and training, dangerous to use. Now, make one using vibroweapon technology, forge a blade for it using some of the galaxy’s strongest and sharpest metals, and give it a shape so esoteric even Wookiees might look twice at it. One slip by an untrained, unpracticed, or unworthy user and they’re likely to take off one of their own limbs!
The Shor’kazza is not merely a fighting knife or utility blade, it is an extension of its owner and wielder, a sacred talisman and weapon, into which a piece of his life’s energy has been imparted. Called the “Deadly Tracker” because it ‘always finds what it is seeking’, striking true with a lethality and precision few blades can match. Able to slice through armor and flesh and bone, and to withstand a duel against even a lightsaber, the heavy blade is truly a powerful weapon. One must train for a very long time to become proficient with it, as the unusual design, weight, and mechanics of the blade take its use to a nuanced level far beyond most blades’ requirements. Imbued with design patterns and sigils of deep and personal kind, specific to its owner, the Shor’kazza is a one-of-a-kind weapon.
The recurved blade, bearing a double fuller channeling, beveled and tapered full-tang blade with a notch just before the hilt, the shape provides it a surprising ‘wedge’ effect, enabling it considerably greater penetrative power allowing it to chop and slice much more efficiently and deeper than more conventional blades. The center of mass combines with the angle to allow the blade to slice as it chops, a quality made all the more potent by the ultrasonic vibration of the blade. Unlike most other vibroweapons, the Shor’kazza takes it cue from the Talon Vibrodagger, vibrating at ultrasonic frequencies to eliminate the tell-tale whine of most vibroweapons, making it silent yet devastating to use. The broader end of the blade is sufficient for chopping wood, acting as a small shovel, chopping and crushing, or butchering large prey, while its length enables easy use to clear vegetation, even as closer to the hilt it can double as a utility knife for dressing game and other functional tasks. In battle, the blade can easily sever a limb, decapitate a foe, or tear, stab, slice, or chop through dense hide, bone, and tissue to penetrate an unshielded torso or body. Against many forms of armor, the blade is able to chop and slice through, plunging deep into the enemy inside. It won’t cut beskar or similarly durable metals, nor will it slice through the hull of a starship or battle tank, but in a mano-y-mano fight, the very sight of the Shor’kazza arrayed against you should be a cause for fear and doubt!
The hilt is made from a brylark wood sheath surrounding a wroshyr-wood core, enveloping the full-tang of the blade. Incredibly tough and resistant to fire, cutting, and having comparable strength and durability to metals, the handle is tightly wrapped in manta ray-leather, which is resilient against corrosion, moisture, rot, and the rough texture of its surface giving the user a strong grip, not easily broken or given to slipping. Made with a matched Rancor-leather self-sharpening sheath, the scabbard is tough and durable, on par with Spacers leather and even able to take a shot or two from a low-powered blaster.
The special nutorium pommel cap shrouds the vibro-generator’s power cell from most standard weapons detectors, while the already-mentioned ultrasonic vibration enables silent use. This makes it hard to detect at a distance, as most metal detectors won’t reach that far and being silent, odds are you will feel it before you hear it. It can still be easily recognized by its unique shape and size, but in the hands of the Wookiee holding it, it appears akin to a large dagger or very short sword, as dangerous as any fighting knife anywhere.
