PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Lightsaber Shoto
  • Size: Hand-and-a-Half
  • Length: 24cm (hilt), 66cm (blade), 90cm (overall)
  • Weight: 1 kg
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Safety setting (default non-lethal function)
Strengths:
  • Functional Lightsaber. Even on default low power/non-lethal safety setting, the training saber functions the same as a regular lightsaber and can deflect blaster bolts or be used in lightsaber combat.
  • Safety Saber. Default low power setting is non-lethal, allowing Jedi training to take place in a safe environment in which the cutting power of the lightsaber is rendered inert. Bruises and painful welts will still result with contact.
Weaknesses:
  • I Need An Adult. The safety feature is designed so that young padawans cannot 'fool around' with a lethal weapon. An adult Force User is required to disable the safety and enable full lightsaber (lethal) functionality.
  • Not Water Resistant. Submersion of the emitter matrix into water, even just 1 inch, will render the lightsaber inoperable until it can be repaired.
  • Cheap Construction. This is a training lightsaber, not the weapon of a Jedi Knight. It is less durable and more susceptible to breakage under field conditions.
  • Basic Lightsaber. Cannot be used to deflect slugthrower rounds or deflect paddle beam-based weapondry. Does not cut through amphistaff. Has no dual phase capability. This is as basic as a lightsaber gets.
DESCRIPTION
A not-as-elegant weapon for a less civilized Jedi wannabe hopeful, the training lightsaber wielded by [member="Shoma Ike"] in 851 ABY was one example of the training instruments given to Jedi younglings of the Sullust Enclave who had not yet completed the Gathering and constructed their own lightsaber. Shoma's training saber was equipped with a beam gem lens, which projected a violet-pink colored blade of light in lieu of the standard blue or green coloration, a reference to an Atrisian cultural association between pink flowers and the Yovshin Swordsmen of Atrisia. The hilt was designed to be modular in nature, allowing it to be swapped out for a larger grip as the boy grew.

A very nice lightsaber, simple but elegant. I especially like the reference to Atrisian lore!

Passing it on for mentor review.
