DESCRIPTION

The AM-3T Heavy Laser Cannon is an exclusive ship-mounted weapon. It was designed to be powerful enough to engage and damage the biggest of ships, and starfighters. The weapon is big and heavy and is suggested to be best suited for capital ships. It ammunitions type is plasma based, and the loadout is rather large, however its effective range is average, which can be a problem against far away capital ships but a friend to have against incoming starfighters. The weapon sits on a constructed rotation base, allowing for it swivel in a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree angle.

It has a quad-style barrel system, allowing the cannon to possess a high rate of fire whilst dealing out extreme damage. The rate of fire comes in two applications, automatic version for continuous firing or in three short bursts. However, the barrels, spite being made of dallorian alloy, can overheat if overused. It bests suggested to find a balance when utilizing the cannon to offset the overheating drawback. There is a time lapse of a few seconds between switching from automatic to short bursts.

With heavy damage and rate of fire comes the high recoil. The weapon is computer controlled, not personally manned, but that hasn't stopped the recoil from being an issue. It can affect the accuracy of shots, especially in automatic form. The accuracy isn't affected as much when assaulting bigger sized starships but can be a problem against starfighters. In spite of the recoil's accuracy issues, the cannon is rather deadly against starfighters, due to its damage output and its effective range.

The AM-3T comes standard with its own personal Deflector Shield, giving it an added protection in the event of the starship's main shield goes down. The deflector shield is further strengthened by the addition of the SE-151 Shield Force Multiplier.

AM-3T is technology sound, having several installed computed based applications installed inside. First, it contains an Identify Friend/Foe Transponder to allow it to decipher quickly between nearby starships and starfighters. The heavy cannon comes with two other different computer systems that work in tandem together, St2X Targeting Computer and the ANq 3.6 Tracking System. The two joined systems allow for the cannons to track its targets at a haunting speed and targeting potential threats equally fast. One of the drawbacks of so many computerized components is the ability for them to be jammed or disrupted by ion-based technology.
