Ship of the Line

After recent conflicts with the Sith Empire came to a close, many within the Mandalorian clans pointed towards the difficulties the Mandalorian fleet had in dealing with the larger and more powerful Sith flagships and Star Destroyers. Many even saw it as a point of shame that dar'manda allies ((simply meaning non-mando)) had to be called in to help deal with the threat posed by the massive warships of the Sith. Some even saw the ships of those same allies as threats to Mandalorian space that had to be addressed.

Regardless of the individual points raised or the reasoning each clan had for one opinion or another, a consensus was reached. The clans needed a new ship. Something big. Something groundbreaking. Something that would allow the Mandalorians to never again rely on the firepower of another nation's navy. They needed a Star Destroyer. And it was for that reason that MandalMotors and Mandal Hypernautics were being asked by the clans to work together towards this goal.

It was for that reason that Larraq's luxury model Oya'karir Ground Vehicle was currently parked outside MandalMotors Tower. He and eight of his best engineers, scientists, and tacticians were here to meet with @[member="Gilamar Skirata"] and his people.

Sitting in his chair wearing MandalMotors "official" wear, he was dressed in a dark green suit with a navy button up with the MandalMotors icon pinned to his chest like some sort of military ranking. Coincidental that the colors he wore meant duty and reliability, it probably wasn't. He shrugged in his jacket, reaching into his inner pocket to take out the flask filled with ne'tra gal. With a heavy sigh, he looked out of what looked like a view port looking into space, specifically MandalMotors shipyards. Of course, this was an image displayed on the surface of the transparisteel. He preferred it before meetings. The limitless expanse of space calmed his nerves when combined with alcohol.

Unscrewing the cap he tipped the steel can back, allowing the sweet black ale to travel down his throat and into his belly. A satsified sigh after the swig seemed to cue the console on his desk. <Sir, Larraq's here.> Turning and setting the flask down he tapped a button on the console to reply, <Alright send him up.> Releasing the button from his pressure he put the flask away and instead brandished two glass drinking glasses and pulled a bottle of tihaar from under his desk, setting it on the wood surface, awaiting his soon to be partner.

Rygel Larraq stood quietly in the elevator as he and his small cluster of scientists, engineers, and naval commanders waited to be disgorged on whatever upper floor @[member="Gilamar Skirata"] had claimed for his office. He was far from happy about working with his primary competitor in this sector of space, but the clans had demanded it. Even the Dem'adas clan had supported the decision to commission a new line of Star Destroyer sized warships for the Mandalorian clans.

So when the doors finally opened and Larraq stepped forward from them, he did so with a polite and friendly look upon his face. He was well practiced at diplomacy. And despite his professional dislike of MandalMotors, the CEO was the Mand'alor and deserved some respect. Besides, there was still a great deal of money to be made with this product.

"Greetings Mand'alor Skirata. It seems we have some work to do."

With a bearded grin, Gilamar stood and walked briskly towards Larraq. The old man cleaned up nicely compared to the normal rugged, scowling iron-clad warrior Larraq would be used to. <Olarom, Rygel!> he said, shaking his hand vigorously. Looking behind him his light brown eyes sparkled with anticipation. <It seems you brought some friends! Please, please, enter take a seat.> Motioning to the line of chairs in front of his desk. He had obviously been expecting the other people Larraq had brought with him, yet there were only two glasses on the table. One for each CEO.

Making his way back to his own desk, he filled the two glasses, took his own gingerly between his fingers and sat on the polished desk, his shipyards in live stream working away behind him.

Larraq took the offered glass and raised it in recognition to the man that stood before him. A moment later, the liquid was down his throat and warming his belly. It was a good whiskey. Went down smooth, for a whiskey, and burned good after it started to settle. The cheep stuff always burned on the way down and sat flat once it was through.

Nodding his thanks and obvious appreciation of the good whiskey, Larraq smiled at @[member="Gilamar Skirata"] then motioned for his men to take a seat. "I assume you've had the chance to review the desired specs of the new ship." Larraq said as he took a seat himself. When the clans had decided that a new ship be produced, a rough outline was drafted of what the clans desired in a ship. They wanted something large, deadly, and able to hold up in a fight. More so, they wanted something that could make their enemies think twice just by showing up. They wanted a gunship and a brawler. What they wanted for the Mandalorian Navy, was a ship of the line. "Have your people had a chance to draft a proposal?" Larraq asked as he returned the glass to the table and waited for his host to refill it.

Sitting in his own chair, he sat the glass down and leaned back for a moment, thinking back to the original design. He and his men had spent hours, days on designing it, then Mandal Hypernautics came out with those flak cannons. Davin went crazy, insisting that they use them over and over again. Though he agreed that they would make a better ship, he wasn't sure if it was worth....this. He hated buisness meetings. He had to get in his stiff suit, go out and buy fancy drinks, and sit on his arse and talk for hours. He would rather be in his office at the Shipyards, chatting up the engineers about plans, or working the ships himself...But alas, this was his actual job and so he was forced to abide by the rules of corporate life.

<Of course, of course, your changes to the original rough design we sent you were astonishing. That gun of yours is a real piece of work, especially for such a small company.> Taking the bottle and refiling his guest's glass, he spoke again, <We would like to hear your own proposal first, after all it is you who we are going to be paying the most for this ship.> Laughing, in the back of his mind Gil could only think about the amount of Credits that would be lost in this venture.
