Private Sharing the Wealth

As soon as Alice stated that she had a partner, Kat bit her lip and shook her head. Rookie move, how could she have made such a rookie move, of course someone this attractive and fiery had a partner. She shouldn't have assumed otherwise and her head always to assume taken until told others. She sighed and shook herself, "sorry. I am sure that they do like you as you are. It was a dumb joke, ahem, so mission..." While Kat wasn't blushing, she did feel warm due to this all.

When Alice fired back, Kat was taken aback, she wasn't use to this. "Hey, I haven't received any complaints about the way I use my tongue. You would have learnt that if you were single." Kat smirked, if this was how things would be, nothing more than some fun flirting then she was fine with that. "My mind is only in the gutter cause you put it there!" Kat could only quietly laugh to herself as she followed Alice through the sneaking.

Her skills weren't as elegant as Alice she was clearly trained to some degree in stealth. Peering out, she spotted the guy that Alice was assuming was Aaron, Kat wasn't sure from this distance but knew the point that Alice was trying to make. Calling her sheriff was seemingly odd but Kat took it in her stride and scanned the area. "Could use the Force to sneak in undetected. Then listen in, figure out what was going on and then plan around that?" She shrugged at her own suggestion, unsure it was any good.

It was true, despite her otherwise hectic approach to this whole thing, Amea was the very image of focus. Kat took the comments and remarks in stride which amused Amea to no end. She was more of a shooter than a taker, eh? Or maybe it was the fact that Amea had admitted she had a partner and still continued. Hmm, yeah, that was most likely it.

“Alrighty then,” She nodded her head and swept forward into the open, slowly strode closer before she dove in between another set of crates. This warehouse wasn’t big, but it still struck her as just a little bigger than one would have expected. Perfect place for something like this.

Her back rolled over a set of crates and into a new row of empty space before she approached the corner again to get an ear on the conversation.

“See? Nothing to worry about.” A gruff, thuggish voice chuckled.

“It’s just a matter of time.” This ‘Aaron’ grunted. “The nurses are starting to get wise. Caught one of them smoking outside my office yesterday.”

Amea glanced across the aisle at Kat with a careless shrug. Yeah, that had been her.

Kat was fine with harmless flirting between friends, it happened all the time and as long as both knew that it wouldn't go any further than that then they were both okay. She watched as Alice dove behind some crates, moving around very silently. Kat was more at a disadvantage she since she was carrying more weight in her movement and her metal legs could make noise if she wasn't careful with them. Instead of diving around, Kat move carefully over to Alice and listens in on the conversation that was going on.

She paused, hearing the two people talking, Kat sighed. It seemed that Alice was right about Aaron as he was clearly not sounding like he was forced into this whole thing. Though she noticed the shrug from Alice and rolled her eyes, seemed Alice was the living example of not being stealthy while trying to be stealthy.

Sighs, Kat moved closer and tried to hear the whole conversation. Perhaps they could hear about the shipments and anything else that could be useful with the situation going on.

So the man was a crook, you win some and you lose some. Score one for one in favor of Amea who went back to listening for that sweet spot between farewell and final words that made for the best time to ambush. Enough of a surprise that they didn’t see it coming, yet most likely predictable as well. Operating on certainty had never really been Amea’s preference in these situations.

“Yeah, well, nurses… They ain’t too sharp, and those that would pipe up would most likely be quieted by a credit or two in their pocket.” The thug chuckled yet again with his gruff voice. “Just a few more scores and we’ll have enough to stop.”

“And I can—” Aaron tried but found himself interrupted as his accomplice put a hand on his shoulder that he quickly brushed off.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, we get it. It’s tough, but you really have no-one to blame but yourself, okay?”

Aaron said nothing, the anger hung in the air. His head shook, hands balled into fists. He turned around and began to walk away.

“Oh and, say hello to the family, won’t ya?” The thug taunted with a crap-eating grin that pierced straight through the skin and to the nerves. Aaron’s teeth bared as he continued on his stride, so focused on the path up ahead that he froze in surprise as he walk right into Kat.

This was Amea’s signal. She extended her hand to let a gun fade into reality before she quickly pounced at the thug to whip it against the back of his head and render him unconscious. Using the force she pulled him back behind cover where they could be left alone. At least for the time being. As Kat came into view she slapped the man hard against the cheek to wake him up.

His groans would seem to indicate that it worked.

Kat kept silent during the conversation, not trusting herself. Her training in stealth was not great and the Echani was constantly aware that she had to improve in her skills if she was going to continue going on missions like this. Otherwise she was going to make an error and get herself in big trouble, or even worse someone she cared about. Kat was not looking forward to Alice's bragging about being right on the matter, she could just tell that Alice was the type to be a sore winner, at least in jest.

When the thug brushed off Aaron, it seemed that there might be something more than met the eye, perhaps she had been too quick to judge the situation but Kat was in an awkward position where she couldn't investigate further without revealing her identity or having to do some harm to what might be an innocent person. It was tough but second option was the lesser of two evils.

She found Aaron walk right up to her, she sighed and knocked him out with a Force Push, she decided to leave him knocked out and talk to the thug that Alice had subdued. "Hey, why do you get all the fun stuff to do. I wanted to slap him." Kat joked as she wondered over, arms crossed over her chest as she looked down at the piece of scum.

"How did you want to interrogate him?"

"Yeah, well, first he has to—"

"You schu-" The man tried to speak but was cut off by the crisp sound of Amea's hand impacting across his cheek.

"Try that again and it will cost you a knee." Amea growled as she applied pressure to the man's back. "Now, tell us about the shipments, where you deliver them, and when."

"I ain't telling you a thing." The man grumbled. His lips split in a grimace as he bared his teeth in pain. Amea continued to apply pressure until eventually he relented.

"Wah-ows!" He gasped and she let him breathe again. "Warehouse," The thug coughed. "Third street."

Kat didn't stop Alice as she tortured the grunt, she looked on with cold determination burning in her eyes. The Echani was focused on improving the situation for the people suffering that were not grunts for a massive corporation. She looked over to Alice, "How did you want to approach the warehouse?" Kat was asking out of curiosity but she had an idea of the plan Alice would have being chaotic, wild and entirely impractical. However, she wasn't going to deny input from Alice since Alice was right about other aspects of the case.

She leaned forward towards the grunt, using Mind Trick to a high level, Kat coaxed the man more than Alice had, "I know that my friend was very mean but could you tell us what dangers might the guards inside the warehouse have for us?" Kat asked in a sweeter tone than she might normally used in order to coax an answer.

This was only being done in order to show Alice that there were other options to finding the truth bar brute force.

"I won't divulge that information in front of a potential loose end." Amea muttered as her hands placed themselves firm against her hip. "But let's say I find a big drill and go in from underneath, that would definitely be fun."

"Whatever." The grunt grunted as the kind one at least asked him like a person. Yeah, she was alright. Might even have made a cool colleague had things been different. A long sigh blew from his nose as he leaned back against the wall. "We's gots them sharpshooters on the outside, the bruisers on the inside. Regular patrols. No more than maybe six or eight people at a time though. Boss wants us to keep it less obvious."

Amea rolled her eyes. She could see through what Kat had done, and more than anything despised it. Her brows rose to question her before she rolled her shoulders with a shrug.

"Using mental abilities to force someone to tell information." She said and the man raised his brow before a headache seemed to roll over him. "Only issue is that people always put the pieces together. No matter which of these paths we chose, he would still be dead meat."

"Hey, wh—" The thug groaned and rubbed at his forehead. "What's going on here?"

"A big drill, that's the plan..." Kat sighed and chuckled lightly, it was more than she had. The situation from the guard seemed to suggest that a stealthy approach would be tricky and perhaps just coming out from within their base might cause enough chaos for them to take advantage of the situation. Kat also spotted the despised look that Alice had in her eyes when she performed the Mind Trick. It was curious, was there something about the Force that her companion hated so much? Or was it the use of Mind Trick in particular that Alice depised.

Kat turned and faced Alice, "yeah, he might end up dead either way. My way though guarantees that he divulges the information before he dies. Your way, he could have died while you were torturing him and get us nothing." Kat shrugged, she was hoping that would be a middle ground they could meet on. Kat wasn't trying to show compassion in saving the guy, just ensuring that the information they got was correct, and that they got the information.

"So, show me where this big drill is then." Kat smiled to Alice, letting her partner take the lead on this.
