Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
There was a time for broadcasts and public announcements. Sometimes you needed a clearly stated intention and blatantly apparent goal. Other times, you went down to business and only involved the people directly involved. Popo normally didn't care either way for fanfare or no fanfare, but today was a kind of no fanfare day for him. Instead of a public announcement like CEC had done, with [member="Ayden Cater"] broadcasting sanctions across the holonet, Popo opted to simply send a notice with an official letterhead.

The notice would reach the individuals within the Republic's hierarchy and inform them that due to current events, all standing Tenloss contracts would be cancelled and all assets currently under lease or payment plan would be retrieved and any funds on said payment plans currently would be refunded, minus taxes and fees.

Within an hour of the notice being given, individuals and teams from Tenloss owned Lucross Collections and Relekin Confidential began retrieving the materials and ships from around the Republic. Anything not paid for in full was packed up and shipped off to Tenloss warehouses or skeleton crewed and moved to Tenloss storage yards after paid funds were returned to Republic coffers. Everything paid in full was considered no longer under Tenloss lease and left alone, though agents from both Tenloss collections companies did leave official notices stating that Tenloss warranties would not be renewed upon expiration until further notice.

Back at the Wheel, Popo saw reports come in periodically as assets were moved to secure locations throughout Tenloss' network. True, the company would see a small hit in their revenue as credits were refunded for seized items not entirely paid off by the Republic, but ultimately it was a marginal, almost insignificant blow. Such items could easily be marked down and sold 'used' to the more destitute factions in the galaxy and Tenloss would still come out on top as even the discount prices would garner a higher price than the refunds had harmed the company's coffers. He had no doubt that certain individuals in power within the Republic would barely deem his notices much more than a toilet paper equivalent, but that was their prerogative, not his, and their literacy, illiteracy, intelligence, or more likely lack thereof was all their own if they chose to ignore the support struts being pulled from beneath them.

Ultimately, it was a sad, sad day for Democracy, something Popo had fought for both tactically and personally while Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, but he knew that things had changed. The Republic no longer cared about personal freedoms or even something as simple as free speech. Sure, he'd made mistakes in his time in office, but this took the cake. The Republic was no longer the republic in his mind.

It was two steps away from a fascist state and one that would do its utmost to keep, maintain, and grow its power over its citizens and other factions in the galaxy.

Popo set aside his datapad and the reports it contained and returned to watching his holodisplay. Friij News Services had a programme coming up soon on what happened in the Senate room earlier. He was determined to see how his people did.
