Senate Security Act [PASSED]

The Senator of Hapes was in attendance for once.

Or twice. La!

However, while her counterparts were going back and forth about the measure, she appeared to be off and on engrossed in her datapad. Most would assume that the young Hapan Noble woman was reading and making worthy contributions to the matter at hand.

Well, in the form of gossip at least.

Her thumbs would swiftly dance across the screen of her datapad -- electrum plated of course -- going back and forth about the proposal at hand. To be frank she was rather neutral to the endevour -- until she saw what planet the proposed shift of capital would go to.

A pause in her tapping took place. Her head would cant to the side, and those aquamarine eyes would narrow. A sudden widening of realization would strike at her heart!

The capital would be effectively moved further away from the Hapes Consortium!

Oh you could try and say that every senator had the Galactic Republic interests at heart, but Persephone had a rather isolationist desire for Hapes to return to her roots.

Having the capital moved further away meant that the chances of the Consortium being used as a stepping stone would lesson to nil to none.

"Madame Prime Minister," Callas voice would sing over to the brunette. Oh there was a bit of amusement in there; the Hapan knew well from the last run for office that the Prime Minster did not enjoy her holocall visits.

It was amusing.

"After all considerations, Hapes will vote in favor of the Senate Security Act."

Commence the snap flick of a fan, and her sweet smile thereafter.

Taking a breath, she stood, “Alderaan votes in favor of the Act with the addition of the relocation commission”
Then she sat down.

Voting in the Senate was much like going to church, sit down, kneel, stand up, Vote, and repeat.

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay raised a brow as all of a sudden Senator Demici seemed to have had a quick change of heart. She wondered that that was about. No doubt it could e the result of some sort of bribe or backdoor dealings. Or perhaps she had thought hard about what the others in the chamber were expressing. As it was, Kay was still against the move in principle, yet so far no one had voted against the measure.

Should she be the first? But what did it really matter? She was hardly ever around except for meetings and voting sessions. And one voice against the many wasn't going to stop anything, nor would they continue to try to convince her otherwise. There was plenty for her to do and more that was needed of her elsewhere, besides being in a room with hundreds of others. Like on Commenor, for example. Trade has increased a lot in these past few months and she had to ensure that it wasn't overwhelming for the people that she represented. And then there was the Cartel that she had to deal with as well as maintaining her allies.

Perhaps she should just abstain? But that wouldn't do well for her either. Kay sighed and then turned her mic on just long enough for her to say, "Commenor votes yes." And that was that. She had done her duty for the Senate on thus matter.

Onderon votes... Hapes votes... Alderaan votes... Commenor votes...

Well, that was a little premature. But since they were unlikely to change their minds in the course of the next few hours, Gen doubted she need ask them to resubmit. She had their counts. If they wanted to alter their votes, they could do so without her obstruction. She stood up to silence the arena and make everything all ceremonious and on its way to being official. "The bill will be recognized and presented for ratification, as some of our senators have already proclaimed their intents to ratify.

"The rest of you less... brisk senators--you may proceed in voting." The Prime Minister then returned to her seat, crossing her legs and arms as she leaned back with smug demeanor, greatly amused by the vote from Onderon in particular. Rather quick to jump the gun. Then again, she may have thought herself absent for the 'ghost vote'.

Yora stood before the convocation once more, with most eyes feigning interest in the Cyrillian Senator's vote. Those who were paying attention to the progress of the debate already knew where the Falleen stood, and as she entered her vote, it was hard to ignore the collective yawn that rippled through the crowd.

She ignored it anyway.

"Cyrillia votes in favor of this measure in its final form. We look forward to the increased security and comfort at the venue on Chazwa."

Seating herself again, Yora waited for the inevitable ratification of the bill. She was curious to see who would be appointed to the relocation commission. Perhaps, she mused, she should submit her own name. The lady vicar considered consulting the signs, but then quickly dismissed the notion. No, this was a decision to make for herself.

Geneviève wasted little time in determining the tally. A nearly unanimous majority of this Galactic Senate had elected to uproot from Onderon and establish itself on Chazwa. Until the end. Until Coruscant.

She arose from her seat without further ado and distributed a light smile to the thousands assembled in the rotunda. "Thank you, senators. I'll be arranging for my ticket shortly."
