3 Minute Cooldown, 15 Second Duration
Strengths:
Syphon: Within close range can siphon power levels from opponent shields to boost its own.
Molecular: Grants a small “immunity” bonus to energy damage, allowing it to convert plasmatic energy and divert it to shield regeneration.
Cooldown: Both abilities have a cooldown, 3 minutes for the molecular add-on and 1.5 minutes for the siphon cooldown.
One At a Time: Cannot use both abilities at the same time, if you do attempt such a feat both add-ons will cancel each other out and the ship’s captain will have to wait out the appropriate cooldown for both.
Bleedthrough: Due to the add-ons the shield does allow ten percent of damage to bleedthrough and make contact with the hull.
Ion Vulnerable: Just like any shield, the Semira is still vulnerable to Ion/EMP damage and can be short circuited with ion/emp based weapons.
DESCRIPTION
Based on molecular shield technology, the Semira Shield System works in two ways - the standard molecular shield function of granting a temporary ‘‘immunity’ to capital-grade energy weapons for a short period of time, and allowing for the conversion of the plasmatic energy to be diverted to shield regeneration. Semira’s secondary function is perhaps the key to its purpose and that is ‘energy siphon.’ Within a close range, the Semira’s shield system can be turned into an energy siphon, draining an enemy’s power levels to boost its own.
Much like the molecular shield function this ‘vampiric’ function is limited in time and has a long cooldown. Neither of the two functions can be used together, you must choose to use one or the other and then wait for the shield’s functions to cool down before being able to use one or the other, again.
The siphon ability was designed by creating a combination of various superconducting, hyper-cooled components within the Semira’s own shield system. When activated within close range of targeted enemy vessels the shield system lashes out with an electrical discharge and begins to drain the power of the target ship’s shield system.
If done against an exposed hull, the shield system will (when in siphon mode) begin to drain a ship’s power and boost its own ship’s power.
