- Classification: Heavy Space Mortar / Arcing Ordnance Launcher
- Size: Very Large
- Weight: Very Heavy
- Ammunition Type (Standard Loadout, Five Round Types):
- Concussion — Kinetic baseline; anti-hull, anti-armor. The workhorse round.
- Ion — Anti-shield, anti-systems. Saturates shield bands and disables sensor / power systems on light-to-medium hulls.
- Plasma — Sustained-energy anti-shield; designed to bleed regenerative shielding rather than overpower it in a single impact.
- Cluster — Submunition dispersal on timed fuse; area denial against starfighter swarms, corvettes, and approaching escort hulls.
- Gravity — Localized gravitic distortion; fouls maneuvering thrusters and degrades hyperspace transition windows, pinning targets within the firing ship's engagement envelope.
- Ammunition Capacity: Average
- Effective Range: Long Range
- Rate of Fire: High
- Damage Output: High
- Recoil: Average
- Coil-based long-range firing mechanism, powered by the Amun Core through Arbalest Capacitor System discharge.
- Crystal-Integrated Harmonic Regulator maintains coil resonance during sustained fire.
- Internal Amduat-derived thermal regulation network, scaled down to weapon-mount scope; manages barrel heat soak during high rate-of-fire operations.
- Faraday-cage shielding with capacitive buffers and discharge drains across all power-handling subsystems.
- Internal tracking and targeting sensors.
- Automated reloading assistance and lock-on firing component (assists; does not replace lead-targeting solutions).
- Real-time temperature and coil-integrity monitoring for crew oversight.
- Mixed-magazine fire control: gunnery teams may sequence round types without manual magazine swaps.
- Internal, inertial dampeners, and recoil compensation buffer zones protecting the weapon and host vessel.
- Commonwealth Stack Integration — Powered, regulated, and thermally managed by the Commonwealth's established Amun Core / Arbalest / Crystal-Integrated Harmonic Regulator / Amduat architecture, ensuring parts commonality, repairability, and predictable behavior across the fleet.
- Ion-Hardened — Faraday-cage shielding with capacitive buffers and discharge drains eliminates the ion and EMP vulnerability that plagued earlier coil-driven Commonwealth ordnance, including the legacy Georgiou-type.
- Hard Impact at Range — Coil acceleration coupled with Amun Core / Arbalest discharge produces terminal velocities that translate, on impact, into devastating kinetic and energetic effects against targets lacking dedicated kinetic defenses.
- Sustained Fire Tolerance — Amduat-derived thermal regulation permits extended high-rate engagement sequences without the coil degradation or heat-soak shutdowns characteristic of earlier designs.
- Heavy Recoil — The same coil discharge that gives the Sekhmet its terminal velocity produces correspondingly severe kickback. Gunnery crews must pace sustained fire to avoid stressing the mounting cradle and adjacent hull bracing; rapid-fire bursts are tactically permitted but structurally taxing.
- Mortar, Not Sniper — The Sekhmet is an arcing-ordnance weapon. It excels against formations, approach vectors, and slow-maneuvering capital hulls, but is poorly suited to precision engagement of small, fast, or evasive targets. Lead-targeting remains the gunner's responsibility; the lock-on assist does not solve the geometry problem.
- Magazine Dependency — The eight-round ready magazine permits mixed loadouts but is finite. Sustained engagement against a determined opponent will require reload cycles that, while automated, briefly reduce the weapon to fractional fire capacity.
- Sensor and Fleet-Coordination Reliance — The Sekhmet has no organic long-range targeting suite beyond its internal sensors; effective use at long range depends on fleet-level SIGINT and sensor sharing from formation partners. A Sekhmet operating without a properly networked fleet is a Sekhmet firing into a fog.
A heavy coil-driven arcing-ordnance launcher developed by Primo Victorian for the Imperial Commonwealth's defensive fleet doctrine, the Sekhmet is the modernization and Commonwealth-exclusive successor to the older Georgiou-type space mortar rebuilt from the magazine outward to integrate with the Commonwealth's contemporary power, thermal, and harmonic stack, and stripped of the legacy Sianium architecture that once made the Georgiou a liability to its own crew.
The Sekhmet draws from the Amun Core through the Arbalest Capacitor System, with the Crystal-Integrated Harmonic Regulator maintaining coil resonance during sustained-fire engagements. Heat soak, the original Georgiou's most persistent operational complaint, is now managed by a weapon-scaled implementation of the Amduat Thermal Regulation Network, which keeps barrel and coil assemblies within tolerance even across extended bombardment sequences. The result is a weapon that fires harder, longer, and with markedly fewer crew-survival caveats than its predecessor.
Doctrinally, the Sekhmet exists to serve the Tempest IV's anchor role. Where the Tempest extends its shield envelope over allied formation partners and dares attackers to approach, the Sekhmet is the weapon that punishes anything that takes the dare. Its five-round loadout is tuned for maximum efficiency within each tactical role rather than breadth of coverage: concussion for kinetic punch against approaching hulls, ion for shield and systems saturation, plasma for sustained pressure against regenerative shielding, cluster for screen-clearing area denial against fighter and corvette pressure, and gravity for pinning capital targets within the engagement envelope long enough for the rest of the formation to finish the work. No two rounds compete for the same tactical slot.
The Sekhmet does not pretend to be a precision weapon. It is a heavy mortar — it throws ordnance in arcs, it punishes formations rather than singular targets, and it asks its gunnery crews to lead their shots and pace their fire.
