Greetings to all Artists and Designers on Chaos!
I am seeking to open sort of a contest to push the boundaries and talents of all of our beloved artists here at Chaos. I seek a 500 by 500 image minimum to 1920 by 1080 maximum sized image of a creation of Nymara's lightsabers. They are extremely custom and I would love to see what you are all capable of.
I'm afraid I can't give any prizes, except that the top 3 designers will have their artwork featured on Nymara's bio and deeply appreciated and loved by her player hehe.
Direct quote from her bio: "She carries two, single-bladed, crossguarded, dual-phase, self-made lightsabers. They are made of standard durasteel and have a universal translator and ship calling feature on them. They are Force Activated and DNA Secured against intrusion and misuse. They are colored a deep, ocean blue and a bright, bronze-like orange on the regular and guard blade."
Now, the way I view these lightsabers is not like how the norm is in lightsaber hilt construction nor are the blades. Personally, I hate the design of most hilts in Star Wars. They are so bland and boring. I understand that the lightsaber is meant to be utilitarian, a last minute resort for Jedi, but for Sith and other Force Users, it is much more of a symbol of their talent and power. An embracing of the physical upon their individuality.
I see both blades being constructed as if each hilt is a single entire piece and the grips themselves designed for a woman with quite small hands. The grips should be quite subtle and not detract from the overall hilt design. I see them being smooth, curvy, yet simplistic and almost sensual in their elegance. I don't foresee them being shiny or chrome-like, more like brushed aluminum.
The blades themselves, boy, I know that the idea of anything other than what we've seen so far as something of a travesty for purists, but if we are to believe the reality of how a lightsaber functions, it should be possible to create even the blade to appear different than just a tube, regardless of width or length.
The regular blade is deep blue, like the tone of the Pacific Ocean at least 20 miles away from any shoreline. I imagine it appearing to be light and airy, similar to a rapier like Ralph McQuarrie's original intent for the lightsaber. I almost want a cloud like effect that surrounds mere millimeters off the blade. Similar to how steam functions near a small source of heat?
The guard blade is a bright, almost bronze-like orange tone and the blade itself should seem to shift or pulsate along the entire length of it. I imagine it to also be designed more like a Turkish scimitar: The Kilij. However, I except, as the guard blade, to be slightly shorter, say about 3.5 feet rather than the typical 5 feet of a standard lightsaber blade length.
Again, as stated in the above quote, they are dual-phase and cross-guarded lightsabers. Please keep that in mind.
Any questions, please feel free to ask them! I appreciate artist input and creativity. If you can come up with a better idea than what I have in mind, please share it! ^^
Thank you to all!
