Season of the Witch {Witches of Dathomir} [Completed]

One meeting had been a bust. The clans, so seemingly willing to understand the need to truly unify, simply had too much baggage behind them to really give into what they should have known by now to be right. One leader to represent them, whether light or dark, was not possible for the Witches and Nightsisters. And yet, they had to stand together. They had to unite and be a unified front no matter their differences.

So, the Council of Clan Mothers discussed and discussed. At first, it seemed there was no possible candidate of either alignment that would be acceptable to both. Until finally, they realized there was only one way they could possibly do it. One from the light and another from darkness. There seemed to be no other way around it. A face was necessary. As the Republic had its Chancellor and the Empire its Emperor, representatives needed to exist for Dathomir as well.

And when the decision had been made, the Elders summoned their clan members to an open field that belonged to no one. One by one, the Witches came, some traveling far considering their natural habitats. But each Clan Mother understood the importance of it and explained it to their members. They would all gather on this day.

The trip had ben one of interest compared to the rest, Lavania didn't know if there would be other nightsisters coming but sitting on her rancor as it walked making the trip she reached out with her senses for the field. A nice neutral place she could ease off and relax a little looking to see who comes if any. She knew some of the clans would be busy or barely around but hoped [member="Elayne Hawk"] would show up, they had something akin to friendship... maybe or perhaps they just didn't want to strangle each other. Either way she was more then happy to see the woman as the rancor stopped and she jumped down tapping the staff on the ground and walking forward.

Twisting her long raven locks behind her, Sno absent mindedly tied them against the cap of her skull. With a nice bun in place, she moved to the nearby full length mirror and slowly drew her hands up the sides of her body as she examined herself - sleak and tight in just the right ways, she showed the perfect figure to entice. Moving the door aside which held the mirror, Sno leaned into her closet and drew forth a semi revealing sheer dress made of fine silks, followed closely by a pair of high - yet supporting - heels.

Dressing quickly, the woman reached to add one last item to the list, a jacket made of glistaweb she had purchased so long ago. Finally ready to leave, Sno headed through the doors of her apartment towards the ground below where she would find her awaiting ride that would take her to the Clan Mothers.

Milk white eyes would bear witness to the first strings of witches that would come before all in this gathering.

The single staff made of Nighthunter bone would jingle it’s decorative feathers and beads as she brought it down upon the ground with a loud thump. Grimey long bony fingers would curl around the thick shaft, the weight of her body seemingly leaning against the staff for strength.

Ahh, but Kytarra Hawk was not one of a weak body. No. The Winged Goddess has used the Shaman of Singing Mountain Clan for over a century, and in this while she rode the line of insanity, it did not waver her foothold in strength and clarity.

The bones would always tell true. It was their way.

In this gathering, it would be no different.

When the meeting had been called to neutral territory, Lauda summoned the Elders of the Morte Clan and a few of the elder Nightsisters, informing them of this meeting and wanted them to tell their Witches that the meeting was to be attended. Initiates had the choice but Spellweavers and Elders were required to attend. While the Elders didn't still know Lauda all too well, she was Petra's daughter so they probably figured they were giving her a bone by agreeing to her wishes. But none of them really knew Lauda, what she was capable of and what she was chosen to be by her own Ma'dri. She wouldn't tell them though, at least until the time was right.

Once she had passed along the messages, Lauda traveled to meeting on one of the rancors she had befriended. He wasn't hers but he would do, she told herself.

There, the clans had already began to gather. Quietly, she whispered to the sentient animal and he lowered himself, allowing her to get off. Moving over to his large head, she planted a kiss on his cheek and left him there, entering the clearing. Some of the younger Nightsisters had waved her over and she joined them, taking in her surroundings in the meantime.

Up in front of the masses, the clan mothers had already gathered and were seated in their chairs which had been brought for this occasion. They let the crowds gather and then, they looked among themselves. One of the elders nodded to Satara who rose to her feet.

"Witches! Nightsisters!" She summoned them loudly, causing the small talk to cease and their attention mostly turn to her. "Thank you all for meeting us on this day," Satara said, her one blue and one green eye moving over the crowd. She recognized members of her clan and some of the neighboring ones, even some Nightsisters she had crossed paths with. "We have all been witness to the event not long ago when Petra Cavataio proposed herself as the leader to represent us all. While the clan mothers were willing to give it a chance, some of you were not so willing." She let that sink in for a moment. Those that had been present in the Morte clan auditorium would have known exactly what had happened, others would have perhaps heard. But nothing more needed to be said about the subject right now.

There was another decision of the Council that needed to be brought to their attention now. "We have called you here, not to dwell on that but instead to move forward. The Council has thought long and hard on how we will be able to overcome these issues that have spurred, how to make sure that a representative would be accepted by both sides and be able to do their duties." From the some faces in the first raw, Satara noticed she had their attention a little more now. But once that had been said, Satara chose not the beat around the bush anymore. Instead, she revealed the Council's plan. "The Council proposes that instead of one, we have two leaders. One that will represent the light clans and another to represent the dark clans. To the outside world, they will be a unit." The Ma'tra fell silent then, letting that sink in. Murmurs suddenly rose among the crowd. Different little groups seemed to have much to discuss now. Satara let it go on for a while.

But then, another clan mother rose and came to her side. 'Witches! Nightsisters! You know this to be right and just. Witches will not willingly accept a Nightsister for a representative and the Nightsisters will not be too keen on a Witch to represent them either. This is the only alternative this.' Satara glanced at the female and smiled just a tiny bit. The crowds fell silent again. Once that had been done, the other Ma'tra moved back to her seat and let Satara speak. She looked at the crowd again and slowly began to walk over the empty spot. "How will we do it? Simple. Everything will be done today. It's going to be a long day," she warned them, moving her gaze over the crowd as she moved. "For the first part, I require you all to make your nominations. Just shout out your options. Remember to make it clear whom you wish by name and clan." After that, she stopped and waited.

Lavania stood there and listened using her staff as a support and the news of Petra sent a small ping of sadness. The woman for the brief time had been strong and led her back home from the jedi at least partially. She had found few moments of kinship among her sisters and had never met the one who had come with more nightsisters. She couldn't support someone she had never met and spoke. "I nominate [member="Elayne Hawk"] of the Singing Mountain Clan." She didn't wait to see what came of it, just allowed herself to slink back to leaning on the staff and being relaxed.

"A'h nominate Lauda Cavataio of Morte Clan," came Kytarra 'a raspy voice. Those milky white eyes would peer deeply into those gathered, her thoughts of the Winged Goddess and Fanged God thrumming a vision of power. She used the Nightsister staff to focus on power, on the visions that came from the spirits beyond. Drinking deep she gave a nod.

Yes, much would be done today.

She remained quiet, waiting. The next step was clear enough and there was nothing else she could do. Then the first voice spoke through, nominating her daughter Elayne. Satara looked through the crowd but she wasn't sure where the nomination had come from. A small smile spread across her face, but only for a second before it disappeared and she continued waiting.

Then another came through, this voice she recognized instantly. Her daughter Kytarra nominated a Cavataio.

After those nomination, they had one from the light and one from the dark. But before she had spoken, another voice came from the crowd: 'I nominated Kytarra Hawk of the Singining Mountain Clan.' Satara glanced through the crowd. She was sure the nomination had come from one of their own but she wasn't sure who it was, with such a big crowd.

"That's three. Elayne and Kytarra Hawk for the lightside leader and Lauda Cavataio for the darkside leader. Is there another?" Satara spoke up, waiting a bit longer. But after a while, no other nomination came. It was just the three.

Satara looked through the crowd again. No one spoke up again. "Very well. If that is all...," she glanced back at another Clan Mother there who suddenly rose. The other female nodded at her and the two chanted quietly, her lips moving as they summon their magic to them. From behind the Clan mother, thousands of small pieces of parchment rose from the ground and spread over their heads, flying through the crowd, falling towards the Witches. Some of them caught them immediately as they were in reach, others let them fall to the ground before picking them up. Once all had been dispersed, they stopped chanting.

"Now, we will vote. Each and every one of you votes for one light and one dark representative. Since there is a single Nightsister, you're welcome to mark your paper with a single X if you do not wish to vote for her. When you are done, hold it out for us and we will collect them." With that, she turned on her heal and returned to her seat. Each of the clan mothers picked up a piece of parchment as well and began scribbling in their votes.

Lauda remained quiet as the nominations came. She noted a Hawk being nominated and then a raspy female voice calling out her name suddenly. That surprised the Witch, as she glanced to the side, trying to find the source but with so many there, she could not find it. So she didn't nothing, glancing back to the clan mothers from where her mother was absent. One more nomination came, for another Hawk. Beside her, several of the younger Morte Witches congratulated her quietly and received a warm smile from the brunette before the clan mothers spoke again, sending out parchments into the crowd. Lauda reached her hand up as one of them came over to her and took it, producing a small quill and ink of which the latter she quickly returned back into her small bag. She thought of it for a moment and then decided quickly, writing down Kytarra's name and a small x where her name could have been. One of the Witches at her side, gently poked her and Lauda realized quickly it was the quill she wanted, giving it to her a moment later.

Lavania heard what to do and had her eyebrow under the headdress raised slightly. When the paper was placed in her hand she stopped for a moment and brought the staff around to get one of her clan. "For Elayne Hawk and I do not know Lauda so an x please." She remained there and silently searched in the force for what was needed and went back to leaning on the staff letting the breeze clink the metal rings.

Reine was there, more or less. Discussions of leadership bored her to tears. Who cared if it was one leader or two or a dozen? She didn't, truth be told. Let them squabble for leadership, let them nominate and shout and second each other. Democracy wasn't a form of government. It was a joke. A myth. A falsehood that the powerful told the powerless in order to keep the meek and weakminded appeased and happy. To keep them in place with irons and chains they could not see. The whole thing was a farce, in her opinion.

She was just here for the show.

Kytarra set in her vote for Lauda Cavataio for that of the Nightsisters. The other option, that of her youngest sister, brought her pause. She was still reckless. Young. In her sight she had seen the younger Allyan do a number of things that would cause for concern.

For that very reason, she wrote an 'x' in the area for that of the Allyans, as she would not vote for herself.

Anastasia stood awkwardly amongst the group of witches. She was still adjusting to her new surroundings and her freedom. Everything was so new to her and ever simple things such as eating with a spork baffled her at times. She was used to only eating with her hands if she ate at all. The food here was so good on occasion she would overstuff herself as she of course had to try everything. Food was just one of the many things that were foreign to the young girl. Having a bed to crawl into at night was also a novelty to her.

Even though she was a newer member and didn't have an opinion either way she knew it was important to be here. She could meet other witches and learn more in regards to the traditions and customs. It was good to see the two sides coming together dispute their differences. Differences that she was only aware of due to her studies. Anastasia was serious when it came to her studies and teachings. She had a lot of catch up to do on life and she was determined to be a survivor not a victim.

When it came to the vote, Anastasia had not a clue as to whom to chose. She was still learning names and believed that any of those here today would make a good representative for their side.

Once the Witch announced the names, silence sunk in among the Witch. In the quiet, the apartments spread among the gathered crowd and the Witches present took their pieces one by one, writing out their papers each as they saw fit. The Clan mothers all wrote their own answers let the answer travel into the improvised hat they prepared for the crowd.

One by one, the papers returned to their designed spot. Some Witches let them travel alone, others that still did not possess the paper rose their hands and waited until the Clan Mother chanted their own spells and transferred the filled container which held all the answers. The holder waited for the votes to come in before the miniature fireworks came through. Satara rose then, the fireworks set a s a signal for all the papers in. She walked over to the counter, the counter enchanted to make the count itself.

A single paper suddenly flew into into the air. The Singing Mountain Clan mother caught it a moment later. "Kytarra Hawk!" She announced the representative of the lightsighter to the Witches without so much as a earner. The counter lit up again and threw out another pergament. Satara caughter again and announced: "Lauda Cavataio!" Again, the representation of which side it was on was obvious.

And thus the clans had spoken. Milk white eyes would stare somberly at the collection of witches, the proclamation that Kytarra would be the one to over see the Allyans settling its weight upon those thin shoulders. But they only appeared to be weak; for they were riddled with a strength of a Shaman of Singing Mountain.

Allya would pave and guide the way. The Winged Goddess would bless them. Now was the season of the witch.

And Kytarra would bring a reckoning.

It would have come as a bit of a surprise when Satara Hawk read out her name if there had been another candidate. Lauda was all far more candidates as the Allyans had done but if such was the will of her fellow Witches, the female would not protest it. Instead, she would do what was expected from her and what she had been created for. She would protect her planet as she had always done and now be its voice alongside the other Hawk female.

Lauda glanced at the crowds that was now parting away. In her distance, she could see the clan mothers coming together to talk among themselves. It made her miss her mother for a brief moment before she glanced at the Nightsisters at her side and smiled at them, joining them as they too left the gathering.

Votes had been cast, names had been given. Satara glanced at the crowd and and took in a deep breath. "Thank you, all, for your presence here. I'm sure both representatives will do their job well. For now, this meeting is over," she dismissed them but waited for a brief moment while some of the Witches began to leave, some alone and others in their crowds. Then she returned to her fellow Clan Mothers. They would discuss this change and then each would head out to document the event for future generations to know. For what had happened today was a unique momentous. History spoke of united Witches in time of Allya. Since then, Satara suspected the Witches could have gathered at least once or twice even if the historical data was scarce but two representatives? That had most likely never happened before.

"It is done," she told the women as she joined them and glanced back again at the crowd. She could find both of her daughters there as she looked and smiled softy before returning back to the Council.

~ The End.
