Prophet of Bogan
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Ship-grade and dedicated emplacement weaponry were actually among the first experimental designs crafted by engineers and developers of the Sanguine Defense Works in terms of particle weaponry although they wouldn't be the first put into full production. Rather once they had managed to successfully craft these weapons and were satisfied with their initial prototype cannons, these would instead be distributed to their own facilities and outposts exclusively. Only once they had fully outfitted their assets with these weapons did they begin producing them for their wider markets and selling them.
True to their initial purpose as asset protection implements, the PC1 emplacements can be fielded as deployable weapons platforms and as part of weapon arrays in defensive fortifications or even in more independent positions. However, having the foresight to consider their own future projects as well as tapping into more markets, the designers also ensured that these emplacements could just as easily be installed into starships without having to modify their frames or bases to any significant degree. Whether they're put to use raining particle fire from below or above, these cannons are assuredly the single most powerful weapons ever put to market by the SDW.
- Intent: To make the first ship/defensive emplacement weaponry for my company and flesh out future submissions with a cool particle weapon because their existing page is vague.

- Variable Construction: While the cannon is of course rather heavy and unwieldy to move rapidly, the PC1 can be easily transitioned from an independent weapon emplacement to being part of a larger weapons array such as on a starship or as part of a defensive fortification. This adjustable emplacement has eased production and deployment greatly as there is technically no difference between a PC1 meant to be installed on a starship or to be deployed as part of a planetside array.
- Dual Firing Modes: The PC1 features two rates of fire which can be switched between rather seamlessly, that being an "automatic" mode which is akin to any standard laser cannon in that it shoots one projectile after another, or a "beam" mode which fires a sustained particle beam that is essentially meant to carve through heavily armored targets with a persistent stream of fire. The beam mode is naturally more ammunition intensive and easier to outmaneuver or dodge by any moving craft and as such is best used either in close quarters or on stationary or slow moving targets with the automatic mode being more general purpose.
- Anti-Material: When impacting any solid object the sheer destructive power and potential of the PC1 is quite difficult to match when compared to most standard laser cannons or even lighter turbolasers. Dense materials and multi-layered armoring are the only true methods of counteracting the particle cannon's deadly barrages and even those are countered themselves when one makes use of the beam mode of the cannons.
- Saturation without Penetration: While the cannon is ruinous to armor and structures, it is not all effective against shielding of any kind. It does still impact and have an effect on shields of course but it would take quite the barrage from the cannon to breach a shield whereas even a standard laser cannon has a far more pronounced and clear effect. To this end these cannons are best used against unshielded targets or those with very light shields.
