DEFENSIVE RATING: AVERAGESPECIAL FEATURESSTRENGTHS
  • Stealth: Designed with a primary purpose - the safe delivery of operatives - the Scimitar II-class comes standard with a number of covert features. Chief among these is its Stygium cloak, which effectively renders the vessel invisible when raised. This was synergized with the addition of a Gravitic Modulator and Thrust Trace Dampeners in order to combat the conventional countermeasures wielded against Stygium cloaks.
  • Breaking & Entering: In addition to its stealth systems, the Scimitar II-class is equipped with features designed for breaching enemy positions. Firstly, each contains a HIMS, thereby permitting the vessel to enter or escape enemy gravity wells. Next, each possesses a single Peregrine Field Disruptor, which allows the Scimitar to breach planetary or capital shielding.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly Armed: In order to accommodate its numerous systems, the Scimitar II only features a small assortment of combat munitions. Though more diverse than its predecessor, this arsenal is still light compared to other vessels of its size.
  • Slow & Steady: The Scimitar II is not a swift vessel and can scarcely keep up with ships of similar size. The average starfighter can and will catch up to it.
  • Peregrine Field Disruptor: “Due to the power required to pass through shields of this grade, the Peregrine will burn out any active stealth systems operational on the incursive vessel at the moment of contact, requiring extensive repair. Stygium crystals have been known to fracture as a result. To avoid this hazard, active stealth systems must be deactivated for at least five seconds before the moment of shield-to-shield contact, or damage to the stealth systems will result.

The Peregrine must replace normal ray and particle shield function for at least five seconds prior to contact, leaving the vessel vulnerable. If contact is made before the five second mark, a shield feedback event may damage the field disruptor or either ship's shields, and/or throw the ships apart with some risk of hull damage.
  • Passing through the shield is a visible and (if in atmosphere) audible event, reported as a loud crackle or thunderclap. Shield generator stations briefly detect an anomaly comparable to a turbolaser impact.” (Quoted)
DESCRIPTION

As time moves ever forward, so to does the advances of man. In the case of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a fresh take upon their iconic Scimitar-class Star Courier was undertaken in recent history. Though the core of the vessel remained intact, the design teams opted to take additional care in diversifying the on-board armaments. To this end, the resulting Scimitar II-class Star Courier was now able to address a variety of threats without relying upon external support. Its new features ranged from a minelayer dedicated to unleashing seekers, to a variable warhead launcher whose load out could change dependent upon sortie - all while maintaining the same breaching and infiltration capabilities of the original design.
