DESCRIPTION
The Maalraas are dangerous creatures. Nearly extinct in the age of the Clone Wars, with the Gulag Plague and knowledge of the galaxy at large disappearing or otherwise being destroyed, the Maalraas all across the galaxy were able to grow in numbers again. In the realm of the First Order, Maalraas were used for training specialized operatives against hard to kill creatures. Allowing the Nighthunters to live in the wild, there came a time when a few were captured and tests were performed, thus spawning the skin grafts.

Whereas Maalraas hides were heavily resistant to blasters and lightsabers, normal synth flesh was not. Intertwining and weaving them together lessened their potency for protection. Designed to be only a few layers of skin, the synth flesh was the upper layer, allowing the colouring of its pigmentation to be easier, while the Maalraas hide was woven into the underside which was connected to experimental user’s bodies after replacing some of their typically human flesh with synthetic Maalraas tissue.

Strengths:

 • Lightsaber Resistance

 • Blaster Resistance
Weaknesses:

 • Kinetic Damage: Skin splits and can be cut.

 • Ion/EMP: If a user had cybernetics, electromagnetic pulses would be unaffected by the grafts.

 • Heavy Fire: High protection against blasters doesn’t mean it makes user’s impervious to them. A bolt here or there will be inconsequential, but usually you don’t want to get shot at regardless. Heavy, concentrated fire, or higher level armaments are still effective.

 • Consistent Exposure: When it comes to both heat and lightsabers together, there is nothing in the galaxy that lightsabers cannot eventually cut through. Extended exposure to a plasma blade will cut through skin and flesh as it is meant to (just stab b).
