OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a single-person escape pod for smaller ships and valuable personnel.
  • Canon Link: Escape Pod
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Basic Droid Brain
  • Basic Scanners
  • Emergency Transponder
  • Ion Thrusters
  • Parachute (w/ Backup)
  • Carbonite Contingency
  • Inertial Compensator
  • Life Support
  • Stray Energy Collector
Strengths:
  • Enduring: Built with a thick hull made of a particularly durable alloy, the Satlijaga is extremely resistant, being able to shrug off everything from limited laser fire to heavy radiation.
  • Gift of Time: Its defining trait is above all else its "carbonite contingency", which allows it to keep its passenger alive nigh indefinitely. That being said, prolongedhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Suspended_animation suspension has been known to carry with it a number of side effects.
  • Everlasting: Capable of running in a low-power mode where it sustains itself through the absorption of stray particles and radiation, the Satlijaga is able to keep its passenger alive nigh-indefinitely, though areas with low concentrations of applicable particles and radiation, such as outside solar systems, would greatly reduce the range of the emergency transponder.
  • [Satlijaga Elite]: The Satlijaga Elite is outfitted with a more potent fuel mixture, a more effective power converter, a more sophisticated transponder, and a small retractable solar sail allowing it to eventually make its own way to safety, even over large distances.
Weaknesses:
  • Limited: Due to the small size and the need to keep the price at a reasonable level, the Satlijaga has a considerably shorter range than normal escape pods and possesses no repulsors, forcing it to rely on its ion thrusters or a compact parachute for planetary landings.
  • Eternal Coffin: While being alive is nice enough, should the transponder fail you'll likely float around in suspended animation forever. Base models have only two things that will initiate a thawing: An external activation, or the detection of a habitable atmosphere.
  • [Satlijaga Elite]: While better in every way, the Satlijaga Elite costs around 40% more than the base model, which itself is somewhat more expensive per capita than conventional escape pods.
DESCRIPTION
Having come to know the struggle of fitting conventional escape pods on many of their smaller vessels, Vandiir Consolidated Holdings commissioned a smaller single-personnel escape pod from its industrial subsidiary. Given the name Satlijaga after the Sith word for "Tenacity", the Satlijaga was outfitted with a carbonite-based suspended animation system in order to make up for its lack of storage space, which allows it to keep its passenger alive much longer than most other escape pods, at least under optimal circumstances. In true Akiratis fashion, the original Satlijaga prototypes were considerably more expensive per capita than more conventional escape pods, although lengthy pressuring from VCH's finance division eventually caused the Akiratis engineers to acquiesce, renaming the prototypes "Satlijaga Elite" and creating a more affordable standard model.

Regardless of model, all Satlijaga-pattern Escape Pods are outfitted with a compact droid brain tasked with keeping the pods operating at peak efficiency, though they lack the capacity to do anything more than following basic instructions, whether from the pods' passengers or from pre-programmed emergency protocols.

As a final note, the small size of these escape pods makes them unsuitable for larger or non-humanoid beings unless custom ordered; this usually leads to a slight increase in price, with the exact amount being based on the rarity of the variant and the extent of the modification needed. For the same reason, the fuel capacity is highly limited, even compared to regular escape pods, though the Elite model is outfitted with a solar sail to supplement its engines as well as a more potent fuel mixture.
