OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Samhain's Monster
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Unknown, likely engineered by an Ancient Empire, discovered in modern times by Darkwire Shadowrunners aboard Samhain's Derelict
  • Average Lifespan: Indeterminant, variable, 10 year life cycle
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique (An extremely small number, first or last of their kind)
  • Description: Horrifying
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Prefers an atmosphere of any kind, but not required to survive if a food source is available
  • Average Height of Adults: Variable
  • Average Length of Adults: Variable
  • Skin color: Variable
  • Hair color: Variable
  • Distinctions: Horrifying
  • Races: N/a
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive (no members of the species are FS)
Strengths:
  • Resilient - It has existed for hundreds of years in total isolation aboard a Derelict ship trapped in the upper atmosphere of gas giant presumably with no other living things to feed on, yet were capable of not only reproducing, but reproducing for multiple generations into the modern era.
  • Hibernation - When environmental conditions aren't favorable, Samhain's Monster can go into an extended state of suspended animation, a hibernation, until favorable conditions (like walking meat puppets walk into your ship) arise.
  • Adaptive - The conditions that Samhain's Monster consider to be favorable enough to reproduce and continue living is rather broad, compared to most species. This is due to their adaptive nature, allowing them to feast hungrily on flesh when it is available, or slowly corrode and consume otherwise inorganic materials, supplementing what their diets can't satisfy with what they can scavenge in the air.
  • Parasitic/Infectious - The preferred method of reproduction for Samhain's Monster is to find a host body through which its spores can feast upon the meat, and utilize the pre-existing structure as a blueprint through which to form the rest of its body around. This can give some members an eerily humanoid appearance in some cases. Whatever Samhain's Monster doesn't end up eating, ends up becoming Samhain's Monster.
Weaknesses:
  • Flammable - Extreme heat and fire are effective treatment measures should an infestation should take hold of an area.
  • Unsophisticated - Individual bodies of the monster lack intelligence or most measures of self-preservation, relying on swarm tactics to overwhelm.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore, can also subsist on mineral compounds for extended periods of time without additional sustenance
  • Communication: Hive-mind Telepathy, gurgles, screeches, etc.
  • Technology level: N/a
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/a
  • General behavior: Samhain's Monster is an aberration to most forms of life, in the sense that its only goal seems to feed on all other forms of life, and then lie in wait in an extended death-like state to repeat the process until nothing else is left. When no life is around, Samhain's Monster appears to most life-scanners to be dead. As soon as they are disturbed by a living influence, it is as if they re-animate into a full creature again, all at once, like striking a single nerve lighting up an entire brain.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description of the species history here. If your species is genetically engineered or Sithspawn please describe the process through which they were created, by who, and why. Explain the various challenges encountered during their creation. Most galactic species will be quite old - include major events relevant to the species in how they evolved and developed into what they are today where appropriate. Including Chaos canon events, where they impacted the history of this species, is a plus. ]
