Private Same As It Ever Was

Amani eagerly took the respiratory Lilanna offered, tucking it away for future use. It was odd to think that there was a time where she could circumvent such problems with a sixth sense she no longer possessed. The Force had been such an omnipresent constant for her entire life, she still has never fully accustomed to the severance of its power. And it was smaller inconveniences like this that always served as the most heavy-handed reminder.

Lilanna’s voice returned Amani from her drifting reveries, and she confirmed her readiness with a firm nod. Once outside of the doorway to the cockpit, she took a few deep breaths, and burst through to the other side in sync with the warden. The sudden confusion led to an awkward moment of pause, and Amani caught the same sight as Lilanna. Although, her attention was more focused on the second hilt hanging from his belt. And as soon as the surprise passed, the whole room seemed to light up with a rampant volley of blaster fire. Amani herself only had a moment to get a few shots off, one slug ricocheting off the control panel with a sharp ping. The gunfight quickly devolved into a melee given the cramped space, and Amani lightened their workload by striking one of the men in the throat with a powerful jab, making him choke and fall to the floor incapacitated.

Her more immediate focus however, was to target the thief. She was quick on her feet, and ducked down to charge into his abdomen, sending them both to the floor and leaving Lilanna to deal with the other two. Seeing that precious keepsake in his grubby hands had sparked an unexpectedly intense reaction in the healer, and her precise, fluid movements regressed into wild swinging, the two of them trading blows while she straddled him against the ground for leverage.

The nice thing about not worrying over the Force?

She could be as angry as she wanted.

Things happened rather quickly, and if not for her quickened reflexes, Lilanna feared she might have been injured. Blaster bolts began to sail towards her, to which she side stepped out of the path, only to find Amani had flatted one of the thugs, and was throwing herself at the leader, fighting with a rather vicious rage. She took her eyes off Amani, turning towards the two blaster wielding thugs, and focused upon them.
Raising the blaster rifle, she wasn't used to the heft of it, which proved to be problematic when she began to use it. The rifle discharged, nearly knocking her off her feet as she hadn't braced herself properly. Stumbling, blaster fire still came towards her, and with what little she had to defend herself, she placed the blaster rifle into the incoming fire, and sacrificed the weapon for the sake of her own well being.
She'd have to do this the old fashioned way.
She rolled towards the closest of the two, her leg snapping outwards, kicking right at the knee cap, and popping the man's bone out of the other side of his leg. He screamed as he fell forward, only for Lilanna to catch him as he fell over her, shouldering him fireman carry style, as she turned and leveled herself towards the man's remaining partner. Lifting the man over her, she held him before her, as her force senses warned her about the incoming fire. The man with the shattered leg cried out, initially though his hideous pain, but now from terror as his comrade unintentionally opened fire upon him; thankfully Lil's meat shield had come in handy.
Still holding the man's body, she focused the force into her palms, and launched the body towards the man as a projectile, striking him hard and knocking him senseless to the floor.
It was then that she began to hear shouts coming from the corridors, as it seemed that their little escape routine had gotten noticed.
Well feth.
"Amani, kill him and be quick about it, we have company!" She called, her hand slamming down on the blast door release, as several inches of durasteel would lower down over the entrance to the door. It would buy them a few more minutes if they were lucky. Now, where in the world was the oxygen recycler?

The rest of the fighting faded into background noise as Amani began trading blows with the gang leader. It was only after Lilanna called out her name that she returned to a sense of clarity.

"Amani, kill him and be quick about it, we have company!"

Kill him. Amani paused, fist raised for another strike. What was she doing? She could be angry, yes, but this path of violence wasn’t one she wanted to repeat. “...Chit.” She had said it already, she was done killing. The gang leader, however, had no such qualms, and used that moment of hesitation for another strike, catching her wholly off guard and giving him the chance to flip the mirialan off of him. He began to rise so he could deliver the finishing blow. The suddenness of the event brought out another flash of anger, and instinctively, Amani propelled a kick into the man's face, whipping his head back into the metallic wall of the ship with enough force to knock him out.

Through labored breaths Amani stood herself back up, unlatching the lightsaber hilts from his unconscious body. “I told you… this isn’t yours…” She tucked the first one away for safety, and tossed Lilanna’s blade back to her.

With the sound of more raiders on the other side of the door, they were short on time. The panicked healer hurriedly surveyed their surroundings, eventually finding the port for oxygen recycling, “Ok… ok… got it.” She pulled out one of the anesthetic canisters, releasing the valve and allowing the gas to leak into the ventilation. Having nearly forgotten, she then smushed the respirator onto her face, not wanting to risk an immediate contamination of her own. That would be rather inconvenient, and not to mention embarrassing. “Let’s hope this does the trick.”

Lil was a tad confused as to what Amani was doing, but to her relief, she managed to subdue the man she was attacking, and...did she take a lightsaber off him? Her eyebrows raised, her hand moving to catch the hilt that was tossed to her, though she didn't question the woman on what she was doing with that tool. She wasn't happy to see Amani had left the man she was attacking alive, but they had bigger problems now. Like, the band of angry raiders trying to punch through the door.
Lil ignited her weapon, aiming the blade towards the door, and standing firm. The green skinned woman seemed to notice something, though whatever it might have been, Lilanna didn't take notice. She was focusing on how she would deal with the bastards once they got through the door, mostly on how not to get overwhelmed as she had the last time. Turning to see what Amani was doing, Lil found her fiddling with a vent, taking the canister and applying the gas into the system. She relaxed a tad, unhooking the canister from her belt and rolling it in the woman's direction. "At time like this, I wish I had that Aerokinesesis thing I read about." She said calmly, knowing that even if the idiots managed to get in, the damage had been done. The gas began to spread through the ship, and over the course of a few minutes, their attackers would begin to slow, before falling out; leaving the two women with a ship full of passed out raiders, and no clear idea of what they were doing.
Feeling the hostile intent begin to fade away, the former Sith shut off her saber. There was no need for it at current, but she did have a few questions for Amani if they made it out of this alive. Turning to her medic companion, she inquired. "Honestly, for something I made up on the spot, it went quite well." She paused awkwardly. "Good job." She moved to the controls now, inspecting them, and not feeling that she had the best grip on how to operate the craft. "So, what do we do now?" The warden was at a loss. Honestly, she didn't think they'd get this far.
Before the pair, several of the pirate crafts laid out before them, their men having no idea that the main ship had been taken, and entirely vulnerable to an attack. This was the perfect time to cripple their fleet.

As the gas began to leak into the system, the onslaught of raiders slowed to a stop, as they each fell to the anesthetic that now permeated the ship. While their immediate troubles came to a close, Amani slid down against the wall and took the time to catch her breath.

“It was just crazy enough to work, I guess,” She laughed, “I’m impressed.” The compliment brought out a sheepish smile, before her focus shifted to the next task. Their work wasn’t over just yet, and the healer joined her partner at the viewport.

“Ooookay, This is admittedly a little more complex than anything I’ve flown,” Amani sat herself down in the pilot’s chair, a look of confusion already creeping across her face as she scanned the control panel, “I’ll uh, I’ll figure it out, though.” If only out of trial and error, and sheer stubbornness. It was their sole way out now.

A flicker of an idea crossed her mind and she turned to the warden once again, “It shows here there’s a gunner seat that sits on the bottom of the ship,” Amani prodded a screen displaying the layout, which sure enough showed a manned turret station not far from them. “You wanna head down there while I manage the cockpit?”

Either way, Amani would let begin to carefully examine the various switches and buttons across the panel, eventually settling on a lever near the center console, “This looks promising,” She pulled it back, which cause the ship to groan. Then, repulsors hummed to life as the ship rose to hover in the air, to the surprise of a number of raiders on the ground.

“Ope.”

The element of surprise was now on the clock.
