General behavior: The Salyr Galaar travel in giant herds that number upwards of thirty individuals. Because of their stupidity they lack a single leader and will start simply start moving. Luckily, or unluckily depending on the season, these birds will roam onto the homesteads and farms of the Concord Dawn settlers, often ruining their crop or just straight eating it, leaving their harvest in shambles. Because of this they are often hunted in large numbers and sold throughout the galaxy without need of a company to produce them. In fact, there are several companies on Concord Dawn that purchase local farmers and mercenaries to hunt hundreds of these birds so that they can dry, smoke, can, and package the meat of the bird and ship it around the galaxy.
History: It is unknown where they came from or why they are on Concord Dawn, but sometime before the Gulag Plague a shipment containing several dozen of the birds landed on Concord Dawn, probably with hopes of breeding and capitalizing on their plentiful meat. However, the Gulag Plague set in allowing the population to explode unchecked. Since then they have been seen as a pest animal by the Mandalorians that call the planet their home and have been hunted with enthusiasm...Though even two hundred years of excessive hunting hasn't seemed to cull their numbers.
In one attempt to cull their numbers they were dropped into the harsh deserts of Mandalore, hoping that the predators of the White Deserts and the heat would kill them off. Instead however they survived, placing a large population on Mandalore as well, though most of them seem to prefer the desert environments to the plains of Mandalore to homesteaders' relief. They often cause sandstorms as herds of them move from place to place.
