"I will face my fear." The voice said, as Beltran had a vision of a Jedi Temple Guard sitting before a small fire. It had been long ago, Beltran knew somehow. Centuries ago, before the Gulag plague. It was during a time when the Sith had nearly annihilated the Jedi. When a small handful of survivors had fled their temples. This Jedi had found himself here, alone and cut off from the outside. Slowly, over the days and weeks, starvation brought him close to death and in the moment Beltran saw-he prepared for it.
"I will face my fear." He said again, his voice wavering a little and then getting stronger. "I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing."
"Only I will remain." Beltran finished with him.

Salian Rarr was a Jedi Temple Guard and ancestor of Beltran Rarr, who lived during the time of the Clone Wars. He survived Order 66 and fled the Core during the subsequent purge of the Jedi Order. He eventually found himself hiding on the ice world of Crispor. While exploring the expansive ice cave network, he became trapped and slowly began to die. As he neared death, he struggled to master his fears, reciting an ancient Litany Against Fear he had once learned from his Master. As he slowly slid deeper into meditation he was granted a vision of the distant future. From that vision, he would learn that his remains would be found by a descendant of his during a time of great upheaval. He would detail his vision, along with a message to his descendant in a small flimsiplast journal he kept before finally succumbing to death.
Centuries later, around the year 862, Antarian Ranger Lieutenant and Force Apprentice Beltran Rarr would travel with a group of Silver Jedi Padawans to Crispor in search of kyber crystals to build a lightsaber. While exploring the cave network, Beltran would be called by a distant echo in the Force and separate from the group. While sliding through an especially narrow passage, he would inadvertently trigger a cave-in which would trap him away from the others. Alone and cut off, he would follow the echo and find the remains of Salian Rarr. With the aid of his ancestor's presence, which still lingered in the cave, Beltran would learn the Litany Against Fear and eventually find a way back to the group. From Salian's body, Beltran would take the Guard's mask, which he would later learn could aid him in keeping his fears in check.
