History
Often, one's destiny is not what they expect. The winds of fate will blow people off their course to paths not crossed. This was the case of the man who calls himself Saifaddin. He did not always go by this name, but rather it is the mantle he took when fate's tempest tossed his destiny to new shores.
Saifaddin first started off as a young boy named Hattusa Ozdemir. He was born on the distant world of Manas, and raised in one of the more advanced cities on the planet. His parents were Tsolvali, descendants of tribal peoples who once walked the deserts of their world. His father was a humble man, a small-time freight captain. His mother was the ship's co-pilot. Their life was modest, but it was one filled with love and happiness.
When Hattusa was around age 5, he began exhibiting a connection to the Force. In the Nasvalo culture, this meant a comfortable position among Yaria priests. To the Nasvali, this connection was seen as a blessing by their view of the Force known as the Salkhi, or winds. With this news, it would be expected that Hattusa began his training the following cycle, to give time for the family to have things settled before then. But, that destiny is not the one Hattusa would lead.
About a month before he would join the Yaria, Hattusa joined his parents on a last freight trip and vacation as a family. Tragedy would unfortunately befall them. Upon reaching the dropoff, the family was ambushed by Bpfasshi Dark Jedi, who were marauding the area for supplies. His parents died in the attack, and he almost did as well. Yet, it was the timely arrival of a Jedi team that saved his life and sent the Bpfasshi in retreat. Sensing the boy's predicament, these Jedi took him in as a Padawan.
For years he was trained as a Jedi, constructing his own lightsaber, and completing his Trials. He served for many years as a dutiful Jedi, yet he could not unsee the horrors of the dark side. He had been a victim of Bpfasshi, and had witnessed numerous lives destroyed by the machinations of the Sith. He slowly became more militant in his beliefs on anti-Dark Jediism. When he heard of the plight of Esson and her people, he heeded their call for attack. He now serves under the Ashlan Crusade, seeking out the annihilation of the dark side so none would have to share in the tragedy he felt so long ago. He chose a new name to revered as: Saifaddin, the Sword of the Faith, in order to strike fear into the cowardly dark siders he now hunts.

Strengths and WeaknessesSchooled in the Force: After the tragedy that orphaned him, Saifaddin was raised by the Jedi that saved him. From this life, he has attained a level of mastery and swordsmanship comparable to a Jedi Knight. He has also returned to Manas and learned some of the wind shaping techniques from the Yaria.
Tsolvalo Eyes: Being of Nasvalo heritage, Saifaddin was born with a nictitating membrane that covers his eyes. Initially meant to see in sandstorms and dust, these membranes make it easy for him to see through smoke and other sight-obscuring gases / particulates.
Tsolvalo Health: Unfortunately, being a Tsolvalo has its downsides as well. His species are prone to cardiac conditions that typically become worse over age 40. Additionally, their bodies have a condition where they are more easily hooked on addictive substances like caffeine or alcohol
Militant: For good reason, Saifaddin holds a deep grudge against dark siders. He believes that should be purged from existence. With this radical ideology, Saifaddin is often put at odds with more moderate peers.
