• Production: Mass Produced

 • Material: Scored Metal, Microsensor, Detonite Charge
SPECIAL FEATURES

 • Microsensor

 • Mini Detonite Charge

 • Comes in a wide variety of calibers
Strengths:

 • Organic Tissue Damage: A microsensor in the tip of the round is programmed to react upon contact with organic tissue, sending an immediate signal to the small detonite charge inside the round itself. While the charge itself would be enough to cause serious trauma, its primary purpose is to split the metal of the slug along its cut lines, sending shards of metal all around inside of the target, causing severe trauma and damage to internal structures while preventing extreme overpenetration, which limits damage to objects behind the target.

 • Kinetic Force Projection: Due to the construction of the rounds they can’t penetrate heavy armor as well as solid rounds, however they still transfer the full force of their mass travelling at speed onto the target, causing severe blunt force trauma even when armor penetration isn’t achieved.

 • Anti-Force User: Electrothermal rounds fly extremely fast, making them a significant challenge for even force users to avoid, in addition to their extreme damage to unarmored or lightly armored targets.
Weaknesses:

 • Heavy Armor: Due to the split nature of the metal that makes up each round, the slugs lack the sturdiness and stability to punch through heavy armor like a typical electrothermal round might, instead breaking on contact with dense materials if penetration cannot be achieved.

 • EMP: The rounds are far too small to protect from an EMP or similar attacks, so while they can still be utilized after one is triggered, the sensor in the tip will be deactivated. Once knocked out by an EMP the detonite charge will not be triggered upon the sensor’s contact with organic tissue, resulting in the round passing through the target rather than splitting.

 • Recoil: Like all kinetic rounds the S.E.A.R. produces a massive amount of recoil when fired, something that can be a major issue depending on the weight of the weapon it’s utilized in.
DESCRIPTION

With the rising numbers of electrothermal weaponry included in EODD’s lineup, the design team decided that certain types of ammunition would be necessary to maintain high performance and prevent overpenetration, a major concern with such high-powered weaponry. Thus the S.E.A.R. was designed. Taking cues from the EGM-7, the S.E.A.R. is equipped with a microsensor in the tip programmed to trigger a very small detonite charge deeper in the round. While this would normally do little to dense metal, the rounds are scored, meaning that cuts are placed strategically into the metal to weaken them just enough that a small explosion such as that produced by the detonite will cause the round to split upon the force, sending shrapnel all around upon detonation. While the primary reasoning is to prevent the round from passing through the target, thus endangering objects behind it such as ship systems, civilians, or hostages, this carries the added bonus of maximizing damage to the target, as the shrapnel can cause severe internal tearing to organs and tissue. The S.E.A.R. comes in a variety of calibers, including EODD standards 10x45mm and 30x45mm, and custom caliber orders can be requested by the buyer.
