DESCRIPTION
The Rur Crystal was originally used as the computer core for the Citadel of Rur. Also called the Fortress of Garn, the space station was the headquarters and a fortress of the Ordu Aspectu, a splinter group of Jedi. The leader of this group, the eponymous Rur himself, copied his memories onto the computer. In doing so he created the AI that eventually called itself the Eternal Rur. This AI ended up killing all members of the Ordu before losing power, including its namesake.

Over a thousand years later, the AI's consciousness was reawoken by Chelli Aphra. After learning how much time had passed and the corresponding inability to fulfill the goals once set for itself, the constructed intelligence tried to take out the resulting anger on Aphra. That attempt was stopped by the destruction of its primary console and looting of the crystal core. A later attempt to sell the crystal and AI it contained resulted in a duel between Darth Vader and the AI. The construct lost the fight and the crystal was ultimately remanded to Emperor Palpatine.

The Emperor, for his own reasons, did not store the crystal in his primary facility on Wayland. It was rather stored in a separate facility. This facility, like Wayland, was kept a secret and housed in a mountain on an unknown planet in the Ghost Nebula. Hidden from sight, uninhabited, and erased from the records, the planet all but disappeared with the Emperor's death. At some point the Void Wings discovered the planet and set up base there, utilizing the pre-made facilities. Their base was discovered when Audren hit one of their ships with a tracker instead of destroying it outright. A subsequent raid on the facility removed the lingering pirate threat.

During the course of the raid, Audren's attention had been caught by what appeared to be a dead end. Returning after the raid completed, the Jedi Master spent several days recognizing that the dead end was actually an illusion, sizing up said illusion, then systemically taking it down. It took another day for a slicer to hack the lock for the armored door; what would have been nigh impenatrable in the Emperor's time was simply difficult due to techological improvements.

Beyond the door, they were confronted with a hall thirty meters deep by five meters across. Down the middle and along either wall were displays...trophy cases. Power was not live beyond the door, so the lights weren't on, but as the team walked the length of the hall with hand lights they glimpsed the menagerie of items. The hall was another dead end, another odd feeling to Audren. He realized that given the size of the mountain there could be hundreds of such doors and he didn't have the time to open them all, so the decision was made to return another time. On the way out he caught a glimpse of the crystal shards and read the description; it was obvious that at some point something had happened to shatter the crystal. Later, tests would indicate that there was no personality or knowledge remaining on the pieces, though it was unknown whether that originated from the breaking or some other phenomenon.

THIS IS A CANON ITEM
