PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
R'Ruug is emblematic of his species, the aggressive Whiphid, at least in appearance. His youthful (for his species) face has a long snout ending in two ivory tusks, molten gold eyes behind squinting eyelids, speckled grey dots on his pale forehead, and a mane of golden, wheat-field hair. Tall and muscular, R'Ruug is built like a warrior, with long arms, clawed hands, and a broad chest.
Though the first hint you may get that he isn't a warrior Whiphid is his clothes. When performing physical labor, R'Ruug often wears a jerba-leather jerkin, stained work pants, and a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun from his eyes. All of that, combined with the crooked staff he keeps in one hand at all times, and you've got yourself a shepherd.
Once he became a Jedi, he fully adopted the drab brown robes traditional of the Order, though it is rare to see him walking the halls of a Jedi Temple without a trail of multicolored butterflies flitting behind him, nor without the scent of tilled earth and farm animals on the air.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
Whiphid: This farmhand's impressive strength, size, and blaster resilience are thanks to his genetics.
Quiet: R'Ruug is not a gifted speaker, so he has learned to listen instead.
Force Specialization- Zoo: R'Ruug quickly picks up on Force techniques that involve connecting with non-sentient or semi-sentient life. Whether this is an inherent ability, or he just likes learning about animals, is unclear.
Big Customer: As a Whiphid, R'Ruug is larger than most beings, making it difficult to hide, or dodge attacks
Impulsive: Strategy is often lost on this farmboy. The best solution to a problem, he's found, is a straight-forward one.
Bit of a Dummy: R'Ruug gets lost in explanation easily, and sometimes has difficulty sharing his thoughts.

HISTORY
R'Ruug doesn't know much about his life before the Ranch. He remembers his childhood being spent on a frozen tundra. Toola, assumedly. He remembers his name, spoken at him by loving faces. Learning to walk alongside a sled. Falling in the snow. A cage. And finally, Mr. Olivant.
Purchased from poachers and "given his freedom" by a shady Jerba Breeder on Taanab at the ripe young age of seven, R'Ruug grew up around beasts of burden. Olivant, an aging rancher, put the burly youth to work, making the lad perform hard labor while his three sons, all older than the Whiphid, sat back and watched. While Mr. Olivant's family feasted on steak at the dining room table, he ate feed at the trough with the Jerbas. But he didn't complain. The flock was his family, more than Olivant ever was. Until the day that everything changed, and R'Ruug's life was forever altered.
A Zulirian Swordmaster arrived at Olivant's door one night, threatening the man for his shady business practice and exploitation of the Taanabian market. R'Ruug was able to scare her off, but she promised to return in force. Olivant called upon a certain Jedi Master to protect the farm, which led to the Whiphid speaking with her, and learning about the Order. That night, the Swordmaster and her lackeys returned, and despite the best efforts of both R'Ruug and the Jedi Master, much of the ranch was destroyed, and the animals killed. Olivant's careless response to his dead livestock opened R'Ruug's eyes to the reality of how he'd been treated, and he departed the farm, on the road to become a Jedi Knight.
