Round 1: Treading Water (Vengeance vs Shuduc Macar)

Gratos was one of those places that recently had landed on the One Sith radar. It bordered to their territories in the west, and a campaign for its conquest had been launched by [member=Darth Timoris]. It didn't take long before the planet was used as the Sith saw fit. Far away from any major cities, or sites of conflict, a duel in the One Sith tournament would take place. Acolyte against Acolyte, round one.

The terrain of the planet was mainly covered in a thick jungle swamp land that was much more green than that of most worlds of the same terrain type. The jungles ran from the swamp lands and up beautiful mountain sides that host waterfalls. While most consider the planet a personification of dread, those lucky enough to travel to the planet and survive its harsh diseases have said that the Sorrowful mountain range is one of the most wondrous sights in the galaxy. Some of the jungles on the planet are so thick that the sun is blotted out.

The arena of the two Sith hopeful was a large body of water, surrounded by a thick jungle. At the very centre of the water, there was a wide rock. From it, there were twelve thin paths, the back of shaped rock rising from the water, that led all the way to the beach. The water was fairly deep, enough for a diver to escape out of sight. Water gave way to a sandy beach, but beyond that, there was only forest.

Before the fight began, each of the Acolytes would be standing on top of a pillar in the water. The fighters found themselves on opposite sides to one another. They had an equal distance to the beach, as to the rock at the centre. Similarly, they were in-between two of the long and thin rocky paths. Both combatants had been given a rebreather.

Suddenly, a sound similar to that of a horn blown was heard. Game on.

Vengeance stood on the platform looking around him. He kind of reminded him of Glee Anslem. Not that he was complaining that particularly slice of endless water held a special place for him. Realizing he was in for a swim Vengeance dropped the hooded outer robe leaving just his normal Acolyte robe with his saber clipped to his belt, and a combat knife in a sheath also on his belt.

When the horn blew Vengeance popped the provided rebreather into his mouth and jumped into the water towards the rock platform in the center. Vengeance had no clue who his opponent was but he wanted high ground. More importantly he wanted it before his opponent got to it.

She stood awaiting the start of the event her eyes adjusting to the lush world is it teamed with life it thus was bursting with the force. Once the sound indicated things had begun a simple force jump brought her onto the path below where she moved to the center hoping to reach it before her challenger could ambush her on the more narrow pathway. She was unsure who her foe was but she had to assume they were already on the move and this meant her senses had to stay sharp. One bonus of seeing the force was force users stuck out like sore thumbs the stronger they were with it. Granted this assumed they could not hide their presence as some sith learned to do. But she doubted anybody near equal to her was specializing in hiding force presence, no likely they sought to wield the force in other ways. But this was still dangerous and she'd have to be mindful. For now her focus was on getting to her destination then letting the enemy come to her.

Vengeance swim his heart out towards the center platform. Even has he drew closer he pushed harder and harder. Reaching the beach he climbed the shore taking a quick minute to shake the water off of him. He looked around trying to judge if his opponent was anywhere around.

Eyeing the platform he used the force jumping quickly to the top of it looking around.

"Come on out who ever you are." "Let's do this right." "One Sith to another I will make your defeat as quick and painless as I can."

Vengeance chuckled.

"Wouldn't want your Master to hunt me down for killing you."

Equipment: Black Robes and face mask, two red paired multiphase light sabers. Rebreather [round specific]

As she moved she saw a ample spike in the force somebody just exited the water but they had not seen her yet, dropping into the water placing her own rebreather on she sunk in and swam. Before long she was getting close she’d only have one chance at surprised and it’d be brief as no doubt she moment she used the force to do this he’d sense it unless he was an idiot. However she usually assumed her foes were not until they proved otherwise. Taking up one of her sabers and tucked her rebreather away holding her breath. She then got up to the edge of the platform and focusing on a force jump she leap from the waters! Igniting the saber she made a fast swing for the man but it was a bit telegraphed in terms of accuracy and thus she had to bank on his reflexes being of some to have a shot. She then used this to try to off balance him while she landed and took up a defensive stance.

Vengeance circled slightly waiting, watching, and listening. He had some light feelers out in the force to pick up anything that would spike. He turned towards his opponent during the leap. With a one hand grip Vengeance parried the fast swing bring his saber up in a two handed grip when his opponent took the defensive stance.

"There you are." "Not a bad entrance if a do say so myself."

Vengeance did a quick Makashi salute.

"I am Vengeance."

Taking a deep breath he looked for an opening to exploit. The platform was not big enough for anything fancy not that he was the fancy type anyway.

As she blocked her strike with a quick movement she had been forced to back off, she returned the Makashi salute. "Shuduc Macar" She replied back, as she watched his movements. She'd be hard pressed to use any of her more dynamic styles here even if technically the center was large enough it was wet and thus any flips or fast charges risked losing ones footing. And against anybody competent in Makashi it was never wise to let your footing go. As she then moved in for two quick strikes one a left moving cross strike followed up by a thrust forward she kept her feet planted in a slightly wider form to avoid slipping using the more rough parts of it to give her friction and keep her balance as she moved. Her black mask keeping her face hidden behind the empty slate before the man.

As they battled she was also mindful of his movement within the force, he obviously was sensing her out and was trying to watch for her to use it she imagined. But obviously he did not seem stupid enough to lash out too fast. This was going to be hard she thought to herself. Atop of this her paired sabers while useful were not going to be great for using as saber staff on this platform due to how it was formed. The staff required too much body movements to work right and against Makashi she'd just be embarrassing herself.

Vengeance nodded at the name he posture ever ready. The first strike was parried guess that this one had enough sense to follow it up. Rotating his wrist Vengeance deflected the thrust attempting to force it out to the side. Vengeance would then return in kind. His first attack a flick of the wrist aimed at his opponent's left shoulder. One attack not being enough a flick of the wrist would produce a slash towards his opponents right shoulder.

His demeanor was clam and calculating the second slash followed by a thrust of his own towards his opponents stomach to be followed up with a full rotation of the wrist his free hand joining the one on his saber to bring it to bare straight down towards his opponent's head.

The counters he made were parried easily enough until the thrust came given her position on the platform it forced her to side step. Since he'd proven good at dealing with her movements and when he went for her head she knew she was being placed on the defensive. A simple block stopped it before she pushed the blade away. She had hoped to avoid it but if she continued this way he'd win before much longer. She then using the simple enhanced jumping abilities the force offered leapt upward and flipped igniting her second saber and came down in a slash now switching to an ataru form of combat. This was less easy on the platform but possible still. What few realized is she'd learned her duel wielding skills off ataru not Niman.

She hoped this would help as most would assume the more typical jar ki duel blade fencing style not ataru's full body emphasis. Assuming the opening strike failed she'd take the offensive again and bring both blades one after the other aiming for his torso followed by a simple kick aimed at his chest.

Vengeance smirked at the acrobatics stepping forward bring his saber up to deflect the incoming strike. Following the fellow Acolytes movements Vengeance turned. Using the slipperiness of the platform Vengeance slid on his knees towards Shuduc his saber coming up to ensure the twin strikes towards where his torso used to be. At the last second he would extend one of his legs aiming for Shuduc's knee his head tilting to the side to avoid the kick. It was a risky move but Vengeance gambled if he could take out his opponents footing then the acrobatics would be pointless reducing the duel to who had the better sword.

Through the whole movement Vengeance kept his saber tucked and at the ready to bring it to bear as needed.

He evaded or blocked her blows and damn if he did something she was not ready for, being knocked off balance by his blow she fell back and landing roughly. Grunting she moved swiftly to roll aside and get distance. As she stood she hurled a force push at him to try to get him off guard and buy her time to recover as she tried to asses what to do next. Not much to be done in that period yet as she could not afford to be hasty with him or she'd lose all the same.

Vengeance started to roll to his feet as Shuduc fell and rolled intending to take advantage of the sucessful tactic. Only to be sent flying towards the edge of the platform. He jammed the blade of his saber into the platform to keep him from going off the edge. He paused for a minute before pulling himself to his feet with a chuckle.

"Nice move."

He pull his saber out holding it cross ways he tapped into the force to make himself fast he shot forward towards Shuduc. As the last second he flicked his wrist producing a left to right diagonal slash before bringing it around and over in a downwards slash aimed at Shuduc's right shoulder.

She had only enough time to block with her twin sabers as she stood his blows coming fast and hard. In a desperate move she strikes back with two more strikes and a final thrust with her left blade to try and finish this, however she knew the position was not good and she could only at best hope to nick him. If that failed it'd be hard to counter further attacks with similar speed.

Vengeance smiled feeling the desperation radiate off of Shuduc. Desperation made one get careless. A quick step back saw both of the first two strikes parried. The third however Vengeance spun outwards letting the blade pass by him completely. Doing a quick full rotation Vengeance kicked out to sweep Shuduc's legs following up with a rotation of his wrist to bring the hilt of his saber in towards Shuduc's face. If successful the hilt would smash her in the face as she fell.

As she made his move she fell, but he made a mistake? her mask absorbed the blow as it cracked she thrust with her saber it'd stop just next to his chest if this worked while the second moved to try and stop just before his neck. He'd tried to attack a normal weak spot but her mask was one of those odd ball things. Oh she was hurt but not as bad as she'd have been without it. Blood trickled down her face a little as she made her move both blades moving to try and put him into a position he could not win,
