Question roleplaying tips?

so i've been here almost 2 weeks, this is my first time really roleplaying. i've been LOVING it (i'll at times sit there like "meed more public threads" lol) but i've noticed something, i feel like im not adding enough detail. in one tread i did rewrite something i said and made it better. but overall i feel like i should be adding more but dont really know how. i see everyone else puts lots of detail and what not into their posts. i know part of it is im new and i'll get better/learn with time but im just wondering. also any other general rp tips would be nice k thx :>

One of the fastest ways to reach burnout is to try and force something. sometimes you will be able to write several paragraphs and sometimes you onbly need one. I can only recommend what I do.

Reaction to your partner in the RP

Action to create momentum in movement or conversation

Hook to give something for the others to react to.

If that can be done with 1-2 paraagraphs or if that can be done with 10 it is up to you. Just haave fun

Everyone gets better with time. In my time I can maybe count a handful of people who wrote with such detail it painted a clear image of what the writer wanted you to see.

I personally cringe at the sight of my ancient writing. Over time you adapt and learn a style that works for you.

As Syn said not everything you write needs to be long or detailed even. You will eventually learn the areas where you can get away with more or less.

In general my style is depending on situation of course is I start with longer posts at the started of the thread and they get smaller through out.

My only advice take your time, figure out what works for you, and don't fret to much over people who seem farther allong in there writing ability. Also don't force yourself that will cause stress and take the fun out of it.

fair enough. i've been making sure to more or less always leave my posts with a open end or whatever so the others have something to go on

Hello friend. I have dyslexia. That means some times my eyes seem to play tricks with the letters on a page mostly.

I find it easier to read dialog thats colorized.

Lots of big posts are harder for me to read but if the post is designed or displayed well with clear legible lettering or in a way that is visually easier for me to flow with its easier to read.

If it advances the story its good. If its hard to follow or meandering or vague its not that good for me.

Blade Ice hit the nail on the head with his response, in my opinion.

Everyone starts out from scratch, and improvement comes with time, and looks different to every writer.

Some of my posts still come out in a jumbled mess as I try to convey my character's perspective to my writing partners, and I likely wind up confusing them because I get carried away or overthink my writing.

Try not to sweat the small stuff. Try to focus on enjoying yourself and jumping into threads you're enjoying. Don't focus so much on the size of your posts or the detail as on the enjoyment you're getting from them. Communicate with your writing partners if you want feedback and better coordination, but otherwise, my advice is to simply have fun at the start.

Your development as a writer will progress the more time you spend here, reading other people's responses and formulating ideas for threads, future plots and stories.
