DESCRIPTION
The RMSD-M13 Tobaerion is Roble Manufacturing’s first-ever rad cannon, designed to unleash a deadly beam of harmful radiation to directly kill the crews of ships while leaving the structural integrity of the ships themselves solid. It is one of the most experimental and morally ambiguous weapons produced by Roble yet, but it is also designed to be perhaps one of the most effective as well.

The Tobaerion utilizes nuclear fission and a particularly powerful electromagnetic containment field generator to create a concentrated burst of gamma radiation that is shot out from the cannon as a byproduct of nuclear fission. When maintained properly, the Tobaerion can maintain a steady beam of rads, held together by the containment field, that can then be sent out towards opposing ships. The electromagnetic containment field is projected in a cylindrical shape, maintaining the density and concentration of rads while it travels towards its target.

Upon impact, the Tobaerion is able to deliver radiation on a density level of thousands of rads per square meter, enough to have the capability to be extremely fatal to any organic beings present. The diameter of this sphere of radiation is initially very small, on the scale of only several hundred meters, but will grow so long as the beam of radiation from the Tobaerion is concentrated without interruption on the targeted ship.

The Tobaerion’s harmful radiation is enough to have the capacity to inflict severe acute radiation syndrome, a radiation poisoning that is harmful enough to kill within minutes, if not seconds. An advantage of the Tobaerion lies in the fact that standard ship defensive systems and shield systems do little to account for radiation, although the opposite is true; defensive systems designed to counter the Tobaerion have the potential to render the weapon useless. However, due to the extreme density and amount of rads per square meter produced by the Tobaerion, it would take an extremely powerful anti-rad system to completely nullify the effects of the Tobaerion. Similarly, anti-rad systems designed to protect from passive, natural radiation found in space are not sufficient to counteract the Tobaerion.

The main weakness of the rad cannon is that while it is designed to be extremely lethal to organic matter, non-organic matter -- ships, systems, droids, etc. -- are completely unaffected by the rads other than being contaminated with the harmful substances. This means that its effectiveness is extremely reduced if a ship is crewed by droids or is otherwise autonomous from any organics.

Ultimately, the Tobaerion is an extremely powerful and dangerous weapon whose infamy is sure to rise in the years to come.
