The Sith Academy
Korriban

The plan had come to fruition. So long had he spent in hiding, remaining in shadows as he watched his secret master work, pulling the strings and using her gift for manipulation. When she had helped him escape from Dromund Kaas years ago, she was too young and still just an apprentice, so she was unable to take him for herself as her own apprentice. And so, he was her not-so-little secret. She had broken his will only to build it up, stronger than ever. His life was hers to do as she wished. While some would hold a grudge against someone who had inflicted such pain upon them, he did not; he owed her everything, and considered her what others would call "a friend". Today, he would take his rightful place by her side, officially, and none would find him wanting. The droid his master had come into possession of, named Skydd, was a formidable sight, towering above even himself. Clad in black robes, few would be able to discern whether it was man or machine. The Ashborn had taken quite the liking to the metallic guardian, as the two had much in common, aside from their sworn duty to protect their master. He respected him greatly - he was not one he would care to face on the battlefield. They had sparred on numerous occasions, with neither able to declare themself the clear victor.

Previous to this day, he had been given a simple containment suit purely to hide his charred looks and hinder him from setting himself aflame. Today, a new suit lay upon the table in the room he was in; black, with a headpiece equipped with binocular vision as well as night-vision, it seemed. The wristpieces were each equipped with a lightsaber hilt to match his training in using dual blades. As he put it on, he found that the fit was perfect, as if made specifically for him, which of course it was. Once fully armoured up, he stepped out of the room and into a large, empty throne room. On the far side of the room stood @[member="Kära Vi'dreya"], in the long shadow of her protector, Skydd. Taking steps towards her, he stopped in the middle of the room, before the empty throne, and assumed a kneeling position. "I AM YOURS, MY QUEEN, FINALLY."

Within the encasing tomb on Korriban the young woman stood, mere feet from the risen dais upon which the crumbling throne resided. She would not be so prudish as to sit upon it, besides it hardly looked like something of comfort with runic shards scattered about the seat from centuries of weathering. Here it was that she waited, silence stretching on about her body, darkness all around her save for the sickly orange glow of her lightsaber blade which remained lit enough to cast shadows dancing across the immediate area surrounding her. Flanking the Umbaran was her protector, Skydd, draped in long Sith robes which hid his real figure - that of a bodyguard droid. The lightsaber remained angled down away from both of them, as though she were about to perform a Makashi Riposte in preparation for a great duel... Sadly the latter was not the case; instead she had something far more pressing to see to.

And finally he emerged, from the gloom of the shadows which Kara had made her home, in his new atmosphere suit which protected him - and more importantly the world - from his inferno. Immediately he took to a knee before her form, head bowed as he spoke. For a moment there was nothing save the echo of his booming voice, and when that died down silence stretched out before and between them. Finally the silence was broken, by a few whispered words which barely broke the air. "Rise, Apprentice, and take your place at my side for the Galaxy to see. No more must you hide - let them know your wrath." And with that she gestured him to stand with a flick of her lightsaber blade, her expression remaining indifferent yet inside she felt a little pride at seeing her plans, her work, coming together finally. The Galaxy would know the name of Ashborn, and the very mention of him would bring chaos and fear...

Slowly rising to his feet, the Ashborn shadowed the young woman of considerably lesser height. Now she was his master, through and through, for all to see wherever the two of them would go. She was his Queen, his mistress-of-shadows, and his reason to live; should she come to harm, or be killed, his flame would become extinguished for all time, leaving his charred corpse to rot in eternity. But his actions were not only based on her being his superior; he cared deeply for the girl, who at only age 9 had promised to free him - a promise she saw through to the letter. Whether or not she herself realised it, the thought of her was what had kept him alive through all the torturous events leading up to his release by her hand. This innocent-looking small child had clearly been so much already, and she created such an aura of amazing power wherever she went. The Ashborn wished nothing more than to guard her through her journeys, to escort her through any hinderance, large or small. He was hers, body and mind alike.

"MY QUEEN... WHAT IS OUR NEXT STEP?"

The fourteen year old stared at her Apprentice as he rose upon her urging, already doing her bidding long before their arrangement became official in the eyes of onlookers. While this would not be proclaimed from the rooftops nor would it be hidden; the Ashborn was her Apprentice, and those in the Sith who were required to know now would. There was one issue, and that came in the form of Circe Savan, the woman who had encaptured Thurian in the first place. Not that Kara worried about her - she wasn't even with the Empire anymore, and even if she did find out then what? She would learn the bitter taste of betrayal first hand. It was nothing new to the Sith Order, and besides the young Knight had already made better use of him than she had, after all Circe had locked him in a room and left him there, a room too small for a man of his stature none the less. Besides, I know this man's secret. I know who he is, who his brother is... It hadn't taken her too long to realise the truth; in fact it had hit her the first time they had met.

And now her Apprentice was asking their next move. Turning on her heels she surveyed the room at large. "Now we leave Korriban, my Apprentice; we leave it far behind." But beyond that she did not inform him of what they would be doing. Apprentice and fiercely loyal as he may have been, Kara had to keep plans to her own mind for the most part, until they were being carried out. It wasn't that she did not trust him, merely that she did not trust the others. "But immediately? It is time to fill your armoury." Walking to the very centre of the room the Knight crouched down and pulled a box from under the sandstone tile, one filled with various hilts and mechanisms, lens assemblies, emitter matrix's, everything required to make a lightsaber - in fact it wouldn't be enough for one, but two. She knew already of his plans for Jar'kai, it was time to make them possible. "Sit, we begin right away..."

[I want to do this properly, so don't begin the construction - I'll have her teach him step by step, so it can be done to a high standard.]

Thyrian followed closely behind his master, kneeling down before her as she crouched and pulled out the box of parts and equipment alike. He quickly deduced they were meant for building lightsabers, and upon examining his suit there were two areas where a lightsaber would fit, one on each wrist. Never had he heard of how to create a lightsaber before, so he did not touch anything unless told to. This was to occur in a ceremonial fashion, no doubt, and so allowed his master to continue his instructions.

Kara brought out the first hilt-casing from the box of parts, hovering the durasteel shell over towards his body through the Force and allowing it to remain suspended in the air before him. Her eyes shifted to fixate upon the pits that could be seen through his mask, the glowing embers which radiated when he became empassioned. Now it was time to teach him of the Force, how to use it, how to direct it, so that he could successfully align the crystal when the time came to it. One slip up and it would blow the lightsaber the moment he ignited it. "Focus on your passions, Apprentice; I know they are there, how easily you can draw upon them. Do so and find your heart in the Force, draw upon it and feel through it. Do as I am doing now. All it takes is for you to imagine yourself taking it from the air." And with that she prepared to give full control of the lightsaber hilt to Thyrian when he allowed himself to begin using the telekinetic abilities which should come almost naturally to him. If not then she would continue to educate him as they went along, but by the end she had no doubt in her mind that he would know how to - or else he would not be getting his lightsabers, only two explosions.

Closely listening to her instructions for him to follow, he assumed a meditative position upon the dark, polished floor. He gazed down into his own reflection, his two bright eyeslots burning with a fiery glow. A hundred thoughts at once circled within his mind; most of them naught but incoherent echoes spouted forth by his inner demon, and yet some of the thoughts managed to come through to him - these were his own, coherent thoughts and not the insane ramblings of his other self - that ensnared him at that very brief moment: What have I become? Is this what I am, what I always have been, and forevermore shall be? Who... am I? Without actually realising it the Ashborn had been wrapped up in a meditative trance, drawing upon the Force instinctively like his master said. It seemed she commanded far more than his free will - either that or he was more attuned to this "Force" than he himself believed. The reflection in the dark floor had blurred itself, shifting colour and shape. Time stood still, and no outward sounds could be heard by him.

And then he saw it. The reflection in the floor, it... had transformed from being his two glowing eyes staring back at him into those of another. A... boy? A young man, maybe? No... there were two boys, one much younger than the other. Were they brothers? Maybe---NO! From within him this caged demon spouted his poisonous words. NO MORE! YOU ARE MINE NOW, MINE FOREVER! WE ARE ONE, AND ALWAYS SHALL BE! Thyrian could feel his body crumble underneath him, causing him to having to resort to catch his weight with his hands upon the floor to avoid falling forwards. This brought him great pain inside of him, as well as great shame. A moment of weakness was thrust upon him, and he knew not how to cope with it. Looking back down onto the floor, there was no longer a reflection of a young man and his younger brother, but that of two glowing eyes staring back at him, a monster within a monster. Able to eventually compose himself, he resumed the meditative stance and was finally able to take the hilt from the "hands" of his master, levitating it in front of himself along with heavy breathing heard from behind his mask. The ordeal had put a significant strain on him, mentally as physically. He only wished his Queen would not find him a weakling in her eyes. Her approval was his everything.

She watched his internal conflict without a word, this was for the Ashborn to sort out, and so long as he did not limit his usefulness to her? Well she could permit a small moment such as this. Besides, the fact that he pushed on regardless showed it not to be a weakness, and in turn it would strengthen who he was. Eventually he was ready to resume, and surprisingly he managed to clutch at the hilt which was extended before her, to which she merely nodded once in acknowledgement to the achievement. "Get your mind and focus into the hilt, direct it into the inner mechanism which allows the hilt to come apart. You need it to expose its heart, which at the moment is empty, so that we can begin fitting in the components."

With that she tipped her head to one side and watched, waiting to see if he could figure out the more complex aspects of Telekinesis, after all what she was asking was for him to visualise the interior, the mechanism which locked it together and in turn would release it. For a first-timer it would prove a difficult feat, but one she expected him to fulfil all the same. Failure would not be tolerated.

Remaining in place, he had trouble understanding his task at first. Was he to dismantle the hilt entirely, or just part of it? Without really knowing what route to take, Thyrian began his drawing upon the Force in order to command each individual portion of the lightsaber hilt, beginning his deconstruction of it, all while keeping the tiny pieces hovering in place. He found it easy to dismantle it, but he dreaded knowing he had to reassemble it later on. One would require an instruction book to figure out the place and functionof every little piece. Even so, he carried on with his task, as his master commanded. Suddenly a stray image flashed before his shut eyes, interrupting his focus only for a brief moment, but long enough to make the pieces of the hilt fall to the dark floor. The tiny echoes of the pieces hitting the floor filled the room, as it was the only sound heard. Opening his eyes, the Ashborn tilted his head and looked down on the scattered parts, then back up at his master. He then hung his head in shame. "FORGIVE ME, MASTER. I WAS..." He paused. "IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN."

Kara did not say anything as he brought the hilt casing apart into its various pieces, before having a brief black out moment. She could sense his strain moments before he lost all concentration and dropped the pieces clattering to the ground. All she did, in truth, to respond to him was gesture to the hilts and urge him to continue. This was a difficult process she was putting him through, one which had taken her many hours to manage under the strict guidance of Vilox Pazela. Her curved hilt had been an aiding factor to such a difficulty - which in Thyrian's case would reflect in his lack of telekinetic application. But he had to learn somewhere, and it would be here. If he could not manage this then he would not get his lightsabers - the crystal had to be aligned perfectly, something achievable only through the Force itself. No, he would learn or he would fall. This was the first step of a great many, and it would only get more finicky as they went along. With the armour covering his body the Ashborn was not at all dexterous, which meant he would need to use the Force in order to slot everything into place - his hands were not up to the job.

At first he wished to bend over and pick up the pieces by hand, admittedly panicking a little. Having composed himself, however, he resumed his focus and made the little pieces levitate before him, re-gathering them and bringing them together once more. The crystal hovered in the centre, a crimson glow eminating from within it. With great strain on his mind he managed to guide it into place and then reassemble the hilt around it, piece by piece. The process was slow, painstakingly so; not only did Thyrian struggle with his focus, he had to suppress his raging behemoth within at the same time, so that he would not spring to life in the middle of it all. This demanded patience. Once complete, he brought the hilt over to his master to see and examine his work. Slowly he raised his head to look at her as she did so.

Shaking her head softly the Knight redirected the Lightsaber back across to her student and gestured for him to ignite it. "You need to check that it works, then adjust the length and intensity to your liking" she said, settling her hands to wait and watch to see what he did; he had never handled a lightsaber prior to now, she wanted to know how he would handle it. Kara remembered the first time she had held a lightsaber, shortly after first forging it with Vilox, the hilt curved, much to Vazela's amusement, an odd choice for a first-timer, yet it solidified in both of their minds what it was she would learn to fight by; the form of Makashi. "And then you must repeat the process anew" she added, gesturing to the secondary hilt and components which lay to one side. Thyrian, after all, had been prepped for dual lightsabers, not one.

@[member="Thyrian Ashborn"]

"YES, MY MASTER."

Levitating the hilt back to him he grasped the hilt crafted to fit his large hands perfectly, despite them not even meant for him to use hand-held. Upon igniting it a crimson blade formed, burning red and clear, lighting up the dark room. Standing up to judge the length required of it, he took a few swings with it in hand. So very light, much too light for anyone without the Force on their side to wield. Being much taller than the average human male, he chose to increase the length of it so that his reach would improve, and also so that his swings would encompass his entire being when swung in an arc. With another blade in hand, he would become completely encapsuled should he swing them both at the same time; a great means to protect himself, and more importantly others, within his flurry of saberwork. Kära was small-of-stature enough that she could easily take cover behind his shield of blades. Once pleased with the length, he returned to his master, kneeling down before her. Thyrian then grabbed hold of the other hilt lay upon the floor at Kära's side and began dismantling it. No un-invited visions made themselves known this time, making the process much quicker and put less of a strain on him. He completed the construction of his second lightsaber, increased the length of it to match the former, and presented them both to his master, placing them back onto the dark floor between them.

Kara did not make an input where his creation and chosen length were concerned, instead she merely watched and waited for him to decide that he was finished. They were his blades, she could not dictate to him how they should be lest she destroy the core concept behind owning them. Onward the time passed, until not one but two hilts had been made, the crystals aligned perfectly and the blades adjusted accordingly. Softly Kara rose from the ground and presented herself before his body, inclining her head softly in his direction. "Then arise, my Apprentice, and let your blades forge a path through this Galaxy." Taking out her own blade she ignited it down to her side and let it settle above his right shoulder. She did not Knight him, he had a long way to go before such a time, but by settling it there she gave him some of her trust. Finally she lifted it, so that he might well rise once more.
