Rise of the Jedispawn

Location: Aboard a space station over Dac (Mon Calamari)

The Jedi Master Phylis Alince’s skills with Alkahest or Light Alchemy had grown greatly in the last few years. However, she now had two objectives.

First she wanted to instruct more Jedi and Light adepts in its use so that the newfound knowledge would not die out.
Second, and more curiously, she wanted to expand into an area which had until now been a preserve of the Dark – Spawn.

Phylis’ reasoning was quite logical; everything else with the Force was a mirror between Dark and Light. Everything had a counter, so why not Sithspawn?

It was for that reason that she invited a group of Jedi and allies to come to Dac, to a custom designed area set out with forging and other alchemical equipment. Together with her allies she would find a way to strengthen the Light and the Jedi as well.

Having arrived hours before, Coci had settled her children into appointed quarters on the space station. Master Phylis Alince, formerly of the Jedi Order had sent an invitation to her regarding a force ability that is rarely taught or used by many Jedi, in fact Coci only knew of one. She remembered Phylis from her days when a member of the Jedi Order, only a Padawan then, but Phylis had been a member of the Jedi Council alongside the likes of Master E'ron before the split. She had never met Phylis but her reputation had proceeded her.

After a discussion with her husband and grand master of the Silver Sanctum, the couple had agreed to allow their children to come and learn from this great master, so with Coci is Théo and [member="Nina Heavenshield"].

"Are you two ready?", she asked fussing over their clothes regardless of their response, before straightening her own robes. "Lets go or we will be late". Once the children are prepared, family Heavenshield will depart to the meet with their teacher.
[member="Phylis Alince"]

Nina had grown much in terms of her understanding of the Force and its countless uses. She'd begun classes in telekinesis and sensing other beings through the Force, as well as other more basic skills. She enjoyed pouring over texts and doing anything to hone her mind, all while her brother Théo far more enjoyed the physical aspects of becoming a Jedi. Her inability to speak didn't matter when all you had to do was read and study, so she didn't mind spending long hours on her own and simply enjoy the silence. It was comforting reading books, knowing you were not the only one unable to speak, yet able to communicate through other means. Books used words on a page, and she used telepathy.

Today was different from her regular schedule, however, as she joined her mother and brother to see an old associate of Coci's about something she'd only read about in her texts: Alchemy. She'd learned that this was a technique primarily used by the Sith to enhance their abilities or forge items of power, weapons and otherwise. It would be insteresting to see what could be done in the service of the Light, rather than Dark. Nina looked to her brother and took him the hand for comfort and gave him a reassuring smile. "We're ready," she told her mother as she checked on their robes. She was feeling genuinely excited to be here and learn from her elders.

While mother was not looking, Théo readjusted his belt to off center. He likes things off center, just that little bit out of kilter. Although he wears Jedi robes, it is not his preferred attire, much more comfortable is he in Valkyri leathers. But today, he is to meet other lightsiders outside of the Sanctum and he is a little nervous as well as excited. From the age of three, he began training at the Academy on Voss.

His abilities growing stronger by the day as well as his physical strength, a positive development due to his ancestry. He looked to Nina as she took his hand and smiled, much older more mature because of the beginnings of life experience, he had grown up. He stands taller than most his age and now catching up to Nina who is only a head taller.

Alchemy, what magic is this? Mother had told him, he was here to learn the theory of it maybe even begin the basics, as it takes power and strength within the force to learn it with aptitude.

Once the family was ready, they left their quarters and mother greeted their escort who would take them all to meet the master.

Having arrived to the station with the most recent public transport Mantics armored boots made heavy steps toward the meeting room.
Over his Guardian armor he wore the traditional jedi robe oozing with memories of war and turmoil.
It was patched and mended by his own nimble hands and beside his lightsaber the needle and thread were the tools his hands recognized most easily.
His face was likewise scarred and burnt. It made him appear slightly wild. Yet, for anyone looking his eyes radiated nothing but calm, for the occation mixed with slight curiosity and concern

Sith Alchemy was a well known and highly dangerous craft. Jedi outside of the order claiming to dabble in something similair caused the traditional jedi to be alarmed. Hence he had accepted the invitation for double reasons, to learn but also put his unease at the topic to rest.
If the first failed all that would be lost was some time. The second objective was however far more costly should it prove that these methods were balancing on darker aspects of the force.

Entering the room he took a deep bow at [member="Coci Heavenshield"] a woman he had met once before. A long time ago. Then he inclined his head to [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] and [member="Nina Heavenshield"] before turning to the hostess.

"I am Mantic Dorn, here to answer your invitation." he offered pressing an open palm toward his chest and lowering his head toward [member="Phylis Alince"]

If nothing else was said or requested by him he stayed still waiting for others to come and [member="Phylis Alince"] to start her session.

Before her departure from the Jedi Order, Shmi had spoken with [member="Phylis Alince"] about her studies into perfecting the art of Alkahest. She expressed her concern that she didn't want such knowledge to end with only her. A seminar held much longer ago was headed by the renown council member, but the Shmi was unable to attend due to being on assignment. The force was a mysterious thing with endless possibilities, and the sheer mysticism of it intrigued the Chalactan. Having received word of another session on the likes of Alkahest she jumped at the opportunity.

She boarded the space station and entered amongst a host of crowds. Her business here was her own just like many others, but she wondered just how many Jedi were beckoned, and came from their separate parts of the galaxy. She entered the room, and saw a few gathered. Some faces she knew, but didn't know them well from the distance.

She bowed her head as she walked in. She took up post, like the others and waited for the session to begin.

Tiland leaned against his staff, satchel ever-present at his side as others entered. This would be interesting, although he was unsure what he might bring to the table, other than perhaps the most significant knowledge of herbs and their uses of the assembled party, and some knowledge of healing. That and he made excellent tea with a variety of medicinal and recreational benefits. Every company needed an intern to get drinks, after all. Though he was unsure if that was to be his role or not. Most likely not, but it was certainly amusing. Or perhaps his more dedicated routine of meditation, so that he lived constantly now in a state of meditation, giving him an aura of serenity and stillness. That combined with tea was a rather potent combination.

Ah, there was Mantic Dorn. It had been quite a long time since he had last seen the knight on Sullust, with the first training session with Master Yael. She was off again, somewhere, following the will of the Force and had encouraged him to go off on his own, learning himself and from experience, so off he had gone, eventually meeting Master Alince on Dxun. Things happened and now he was here, willing to assist in what way he could.

Aitis had been with Phylis on and off on her journeys into research, since Dxun really. His visions still did not quite tell him why, but he was learning much of himself in a personal and intellecutal manners. For this meeting he had chosen his traditional hooded tunic and such in off-white, and sat in a corner awaiting as the guests came in. Given they were all Jedi, and should be used to his people and their faces, he sat with the hood back, eyeless gaze fixed upon the door. Each one that entered he nodded to quietly, and he pressed his Sight to the limit, straining to seek any ripples which could foretell of a danger to those present. [member="Mantic Dorn"], of course, carried all the ripples and instability that any warrior would, his actions echoing through the Force like a brass band... The others all played their part, in separate ways, to be sure, but in the end, there was a harmonious union to be here, and the Light that had filled his vision grew calmer, and shapes began to stir within it when his Sight turned inward.

Smiling, he nodded to Phyllis that all was well, and turned back into himself and the view of the door, waiting.

The Firrerreo had slipped into the room earlier than most of the others, and was content to watch [member="Phylis Alince"] keep herself busy setting things in order for her lesson. Myra was always curious about the arts of using the Force to enhance and manipulate mundane objects. But this seemed as though it would be even more than that. She knew of theory, but nothing of practice. And knowledge was power, and like hell would any self respecting Mandalorean pass up a free opportunity to gain greater power. She was content to observe as others filed in, from her reversed seat in the corner arms folded over one another across the back of the seat, chin resting on her arms.

None of the faces known to her. But, she had reason to believe that would not be so come the end of the lesson.

(I will post once a day here. If you don't get a chance to post in that time don't worry, just catch up and I'll answer you the next day.)

As the first of her guests arrived Phylis beamed encouragingly. As each Jedi or ally entered she greeted them with a nod or a friendly word.

Her astromech, ERP-69, was reluctantly wheeling around with a tray to offer drinks to the guests.

“Welcome, welcome, come take a seat and we’ll get started. You’ll all get a datapad with a summary of my comments, so anyone arriving late won’t feel disadvantaged.”

“Now, hmm, I’ve definitely met some of you before, others not though I know you by sight or name. What we’re here to discuss today is Alkahest, the Light-Side variant of Alchemy. That is, using the Force to imbue an item or creature and change it in some means. My research has been progressing well, but I would like to share my knowledge and help to create something truly remarkable today.”

From a lead-lined chest she produced a sword, a magnificent blade. She’d borrowed it from [member="Corvus Raaf"], promising to have it back to the Grand Master in a couple of days. Hopefully it wouldn’t be needed in the meantime!

“This so far has been the pinnacle of my work, a blade which can dispel the Dark, a blade as mighty as any Sith weapon. However, I hope to create something even more wondrous today.”

To all those in the room the blade fairly glowed with Light energy as she sheathed it. It was an example of what could be done by those with the Force as their ally.

“Are there any questions before we begin?”

The room filled up and the lesson began, rather impressively. "I do have one question at this point". Coci spoke up curious about the sword and it's purpose. "I sense the power of the sword, that it is embedded with the lightside of the force, but what purpose does it hold? I understand that it is possibly able to withstand a strike from a lightsaber, but can't another lightsaber do that? or is it simply that it's owner prefers the long blade", she is curious to know if there is more to this sword than meets the 'eye'. Coci is a practical person, and although beautiful the sword might be, it has a weakness which would be obvious.

Using the lightside of the force to strengthen objects only to have them remain inferior to weapons of it's kind made no sense to her, but that is Coci and her logic. If, however, the sword could do something, 'Other', it would be valuable.

However, there was one in the room who's emotion betrayed him and Coci cast a quickly glance to her son, who's eyes are firmly fixed on the sheath of the blade. And he would be even more in awe had they been told it's name.

Théo stood a ball of fidgets. A little nervous with all the people in the room he had never met and the teacher looked .. stern. But looks can be deceiving and when she produced a sword so shiny and glowy, Théo changed his mind immediately. His eyes fell wide as they traveled over the long blade and in each passing moment he felt the energy from the sword. Unguarded children, open to receive and absorb can sense more than adults whom are restricted by social constraints, life experiences and force barriers. It was overwhelming the lightside that illuminated the room, emitted from the sword and all he knew now was that he wanted one!

His mind went to a sword back on Midvinter, he had seen it hanging on the wooden wall of the Smith workshop and he vowed that one day he would forge his own sword in the style of the Valkyri, but to add the lightside to it? as well as encrust the pommel with a focusing crystal? Oh boy, he could not wait to grow up.

"Did you see that?", the words fell from his mouth softly and without permission from his mind. He was speaking to no one but himself, as if wanting affirmation that his eyes had not deceived him.

Alkahest. The Jedi version of Sith Alchemy. This was very much not one of Audren's few Force-based skills. It could be though. For the new low price of A Jedi Master renowned for her feats at alkahest had put forth an invitation for other Light Side users to come learn from her, and in so doing possibly assist her with her next project. The Padawan didn't have the slightest clue what went into alchemy of any kind, or if there were certain prerequisites that needed to be met before even attempting to learn it. But he was willing to try. After all, stories abounded of the famous Sith Swords and other alchemical creations, many of them able to resist the bite of a lightsaber blade and more. What more could the light-side equivalent potentially do?

The meet was being held on Dac, also known as Mon Calamari, on the edges of Sanctum space. That made getting there much simpler as he didn't have to bum a ride from Master Heavenshield or the other Sanctum Jedi going, or figure out how to navigate his own ship - stolen from a Sith-backed bureaucrat on Coruscant - from here to there. There was plenty of transit between the two locations, and plenty of people willing to transport a Jedi in trade for a few hours of labor.

The Sephi arrived near the end of a stream of other Force users. Like most of the others, he wore simple robes and carried just a lightsaber. There were a few types of humanoids present: stock humans of course, a woman with golden skin and silvery scars, and a man with no eyes. Wait, he knew the name of that species...mirror lucky? Something like that. The Heavenshields - mother and children - were already present, maybe he should have bummed a ride from them. The Padawan was just in time to hear the Master issue her welcome and start.

The blade she displayed was impressive, as was the presence it had in the Force. Tendrils of power emanated from it, ones that felt distinctly feminine feel for some reason. Even as Coci put forth her question, her son Theo's presence filled with wonder and an odd sense of determination. The Sephi glanced at the boy, but didn't respond to either of the emotions, instead returning his gaze to Master Phylis.

Aitis wasn't terribly sure what to make of the blade, to be honest. When it was first revealed, it burned in his Sight like a beacon lit in the night. Even when put to the side and such, it still seemed to draw his attention like a lodestone. Something was different about it, somehow. Even moreso, it represented the Light he had been seeing when he cast his visions forwards on the tides of time. Somehow, this thing was tied into it in some way he couldn't yet tell. Maybe it was this Alkahest thing that Master Phylis was talking about.

Taking the time, he centered himself and nodded, listening again as he tried to smile faintly at the lads fascination with it. It was certainly intriguing, but surely not for the same reasons to him as the others. Still puzzling over the nature of the revelation he had felt, he cast his gaze inward, with half a mind devoted to the conversation still, just in case. Whatever the answers were, they would be within, as per usual in cases like this.

To say that she was apprehensive in coming here was truth. [member="Micah Talith"] knew her concerns when it came to the matter of alchemy, and a ring she wore on her right hand that he'd made for her was meant to aid in assuaging her concerns, but she was still wary. That she made use of Sith Alchemy since a very young age did not mean she was Sith herself; she would never be. No, it was perceptions she worried about, especially given the company she kept in being attached to the Galactic Alliance and its New Jedi Order, what with their stance on the darkside and those that would use it.

From Micah she had learned there was another way, but the movements of the Alliance made aligning schedules a difficult prospect at times, and her mind had been turning on other matters - her dog, Adas, was almost fifteen years old, which was old for any dog; his time was limited, and she knew it. It was only now, when she learned via the J.A.N. that there was an offering to learn a form of lightside alchemy, that she got around to tackling the subject of finding another or additional way of doing things. That the primary subject of this gathering was what the instructor termed as 'Jedispawn' made her attendance something that was set in stone. She had a cursory understanding of what her Barkspawn companion was, and what was being proposed seemed similar.

But she'd left the dog with [member="Liam Quez"], one of very few other people that Adas wasn't bound to give a hard time. As for the blade, it wasn't the first force-imbued anything she had seen, but the glow it put off was the impressive bit, and it made her think of applications this 'lightside alchemy' could be used for. As her mind turned, she absently fingered the small cube that hung around her neck, while questions were asked.

Phylis blinked at Coci, then smiled.
“Hmm, yes, well, that was always my question about Sith Swords. Why use one when a lightsabre is effectively weightless, has superior cutting power and can be deactivated down to a hilt? Only recently have I understood that the answer is two-fold. First, and perhaps most vainly, it is a symbol. The Dawnbringer is a symbol for the Jedi Order, a ceremonial weapon used by the Grandmaster, and a display of what we as an Order can do.
Secondly and far more importantly though, the blade can be imbued with abilities impossible with a lightsabre. This blade is imbued with the Light to the point that no lightsabre can destroy it, indeed nothing less than a stellar catastrophe can shatter it, or perhaps if a dozen Sith Lords turned all their powers upon it. But, it can also do…this.”

The Jedi Master drew the blade and directed a glowing stream of Force energy into the blade so it glowed with almost blinding light physically and spiritually. She then turned the blade to a blank wall and unleashed a beam of radiant Force energy so intense it slightly melted the durasteel wall.

The effect had been a bit more even than Phylis had expected, because she coughed, flushing a little. Hopefully the owners of this place wouldn’t get too upset about the melted wall.

“Aha…hmm…yes, well, questions? No? Let’s get started then.”

Well, there had been one question she had been meaning to ask, and it'd slipped her mind until the instructor proposed moving on with instruction. There was, of course, hesitance. It was the concern over perception again, and she thumbed her ring, blowing out a long breath. They could feel her out, fill their boots with it, in fact, but according to Micah when explaining what the ring did, they wouldn't be able to pick up the source of her concerns. So she piped up.

"I... sorry," she said with a vaguely sheepish look colouring her features, "but I actually do have a question."

Eyes turned and landed on her. She ignored them, keeping her attention on [member="Phylis Alince"].

"From my understanding, alchemy... Sith Alchemy... when used on a live subject is painful for that subject. Do you believe this to be so for the proposed application? Barring the Sith/Jedi difference of how the alchemization is achieved, you are still fundamentally shaping live flesh... um, I ask from an understanding of theory and case studies, not one of practical experience, for the record."

She bit her lower lip.

Myra'di

Myra'di couldn't refrain from smirking at the boy's eager response to the sword. Yes, the weapon was beautiful, perfect really. And the aura it gave off, waved in almost tangible satin sheets of power. This, in particular, was the kind of alchemy Myra was truly interested. Jedispawn sounded nifty and all, and perhaps an advanced understanding of the creation of spawn would aid in combating Sithspawn, but alchemical weapons were a keen point of interest for the padawan. Her riduur longed for a lance modified in such a fashion, and she was determined to learn how to make it happen.

But then, [member="Phylis Alince"] upped the tempo, as she proceeded to cause the state of matter that the wall was in to begin degrading. In layman's? She fething melted the wall. And it was awesome. A long, low whistle was given, along with an approving nod. "Very nice..." The firrerreo mused, before returning her gaze back to the front of the room. More Q&A, starting from [member="Ibaris Varanin-Jacobs"], a woman never met before. Myra liked learning second hand, never really being much of a diplomatic person, social speaking was not her strong-suit. Let others do the talking and question asking. Observation is cool.

While she didn't question the brilliance and efficiency of [member="Phylis Alince"] she did however wonder about how far she had come in her development of Alkahest, she had only heard of Dawnbringer, more of less assuming it was a mere symbol given to the Grandmaster as a milestone into a new phase of creation but she truly didn't know the extent of what the weapon was capable. She was glad [member="Coci Heavenshield"] spoke up, because she was probably asking a question they all were thinking about.

Although I think that display of purely harness lightside energy was enough to satisfy everyone curiosity. Enough to make Shmi stand to her feet and move a bit closer. This work was something, unlike she had ever thought and she was intrigued by the milestone here.

She turned her head towards [member="Ibaris Varanin-Jacobs"] who posed a question, in truth they were mirroring a much darker art, and so would the process be similar, just with a different effect in the end? Or would they truly be bringing out the full capacity of whichever creature they decided to use.

History has proven that attempting to create beings to become pure symbols of the lightside turned out with the opposite effect in play. Though the minds gathered...there was hope. Perhaps she would bring this up later...

The inward quest, the calm spiral into the center of his being to seek what had changed with what little of the future he could see, was suddenly shaken as Phylis demonstrated just what precisely the blade could do. Having a sort of vision different than the other, Aitis perhaps saw even more clearly how it did this, what the object invoked. It was, to be sure, a stunning and alarming effect, that it could melt a wall with such devastating power as it displayed. But it lacked, distinctly so, the devastating effect of the Dark Side and the relics he had seen infused with it. That insidious feeling of rot and imbalance was just simply not present. Though, to be honest, such destruction struck him as odd from a blade oriented solely around the Light, and he wondered internally at just what that would mean philosophically, but said nothing at the moment.
