Joining with the CIS and becoming a minister for science, Rex heard about the Rakghoul droids. Deciding to modify one himself, he gave it a shield and a blaster tail. In doing so however he took away the Rakghoul plague syringes, not wanting to infect himself when the droid is working with him, however it is still a droid and thus is able to be taken down by ion and electromagnetic assaults. In attempts to improve upon the design he also added a shield to it. He also programmed the droid to only take his voice commands in an attempt to make sure no one else can steal his droid. After thinking more on how useful the droid was he made another 7 rakghoul droids like this for anyone else he wanted to give it to and thus changed the programming for the voice commands to follow only the person that Rex gave it to.
