Retro Rebel Alliance
Are you tired of the constant doom and gloom that is Chaos? Want to get back to that 80s science fiction gold that was the original trilogy? Well look no further than joining the Rebel Alliance, a faction that has decided to shift from the more futuristic gritty and dark role play that has a heavy hand in chaos to a more humorous and fun style of roleplay that can be compared to Guardians of the Galaxy meets the original trilogy. A more lighthearted, comedic, fun, and engaging style of role play while maintaining a serious plot and undertone to the story that is being told. Our plan is to create a very artistic and fun environment so everyone can join and have fun with. We are striving to create a retro experience that got most of us into Star Wars in the first place, and coupling that with the culture, art, and music of the late 60s through 80s. Art
From retro to pulp and futuristic art we want to make sure we bring forward the immense beauty and iconic artwork that was produced during this time period. We want to make sure that we shift away from the modern cyberpunk art and into what was happening back in the day. This doesn't mean that members can't post whatever images they please, it just means that our opening posts and general theme is of this style in time. We want everyone to have fun and experience that style that a lot of us hold dear to our hearts even what some of us grew up with by using work from artists like Peter Elson, Chris Foss, and Peter Andrew Jones who have created amazing works of science fiction and pulp art for years.
Music
As writers we all know music is a huge inspiration for all of us. Love for David Bowie, Peter Holmes, Beastie Boys, Pink Flyod and Phil Collins has been fueling the minds and imaginations for decades and decades, and as writers who are in love with that time period of music we want to pay it forward and give respect to these artist as we use their work to score our threads and continue to inspire us in this amazing science fiction universe that is Star Wars. We encourage all our members to post music, to score their posts, and talk and share any and all artists past or present that inspire them and their work. What we as a faction are going to do with this is have these songs and artists make our writings that much better as we revive and give life back into what this music has done for us and inspired for us in our own lives.
Fitting in
Joining a new group of people and writing with unfamiliar people can be challenging, it can even be downright unsettling at times. But at the Rebel Alliance we encourage everyone to join no matter how much experience one has, writing styles, whether they have never written a good guy or a rebel. The Rebel Alliance is a safe place and will accept anyone no matter what their beliefs, sexuality, or religious preferences are. We want to stay firm and put forward that we are a faction that will do our best to make sure you are comfortable and having fun writing with us. Write a Jedi, star fighter pilot, admiral, general, trooper, anything you want to play we will make accommodations for you and make sure you're fun and enjoyment come above all.
Faction goals
Having fun! The goal of the faction is to just have fun and tell a story that we can all be happy and proud of. Just respect and be nice to your fellow writers, have fun. We are one of the oldest and longest running minor factions on the site having our first birthday back in July. We've been a major faction, and we are still highly active. We've had lots of successful and active skirmishes along with plenty of great private threads to boot. Our stance on the major factions map game is that we are allied to the Republic and we enjoy working with them to tell great stories. There are currently no plans to return to being a major faction so if you are looking for a relaxed place to roleplay and have fun without stress of speed posting then this is the place for you.
