NEW ALLIANCE

It was a day of celebration, but Jaius knew the gathering that preceded the first official meeting of a restored Advisory Council would also serve as a lasting memorial to what they had lost, and would never recover.

Despite continued objections from his physicians, the newly reordained Chief of State had insisted on seeing the starbird raised once more over Elrood's capitol building in person. The people would have to adjust to the sight of him confined to this miserable hoverchair sooner or later. It was not common knowledge, the true extent of his condition, and he intended to keep it that way for as long as possible.

A massive crowd had gathered to see the dawning of this New Alliance, paltry shadow though it may be of the galactic government that had once spanned many sectors. But Elrood was just the beginning, it would serve as a temporary capital world until Sullust had fully recovered its wounds. For the first time since Coruscant, Sovv could feel a faint glimmer of hope among those in attendance. Many were waving starbird flags, a small minority were protesting the 'unlawful overthrow of Imperial officials', but so far their demonstrations remained peaceful.

Shots rang out, but they were expected. An honor guard of Alliance shock troopers let off a twenty one blaster salute for the fallen, and now the flag was being raised to thunderous applause. Soon, Chief Sovv would be expected to give a speech. For now though, he would let the citizens he once again served have their moment.

"It has been a long road through shadow," Jaius said, loud enough for [member="Coren Starchaser"] to hear over all the clamor, "Could it be we've finally reached the light?"

Objectives
  1. Gather to witness the rebirth of the Alliance, maintain the peace or join in deliberations on new governmental mandates.
  2. Oversee deployment of strategic defense installations in orbit and ongoing repair operations of damaged shipyards.

Pilot. Marshal. Jedi. General.

All of these were titles that the self appointed Sword of the Jedi had been bestowed in his time among the Galactic Alliance. Having worked heavily with Nemo Ven to organize the military, and Omai Rhen to focus the group known as the New Jedi Order, Coren Starchaser had found himself in a strange place the past few years.

An Exile.

On the run, living between larger governments, those that had come in their hour of need. The Confederacy, the Silver Jedi, the Coalition, all had assembled, as it were, to the side of the Alliance against the Imperial and Sith forces. Stepping out with the Chief of State onto Elrood, there was a lump in the Corellian’s throat. The largest subset of the Alliance had found itself in the Coalition’s care, around D’Qar for the better part of the past few years.

Today, with the Chief, and himself, he was watching the Starbird rise. The Alliance would never be its former self, he knew that, but the galaxy was changing, their friends were changing, and that meant, yes, even the Patriot himself was affecting a different focus.

“We will be there, we’ll show the galaxy we can stand firm. It’s the spark of hope we will need.” The man said, wearing the uniform of an Alliance General, aside from wearing the black cape behind it, his personal sign of being of the Jedi Covenant.

“We have a few things to discuss, I feel, when we’re ready.”

"What a mess.." Loske murmured, tapping her lip at the display of the orbital shipyards far above the crowd. She had a pack slung over her shoulder, filled with random odds and ends that could help her tighten a few screws and support the crews going skyward to assist with the atmosphere repairs.

Her gaze registered the scrawl of holographic instructions, a slow-motion build of what the shipyards currently looked like, and the ultimate vision. It seemed it wasn't just governments that would be rebuilt today. A handful of useful folks, clad in coveralls and other indicators of status, started to gather around the projection while they awaited the shuttle that would lift them upwards.

"I'm going to be an Alliance Pilot!" A small person, presumably a child, boasted as they waved a flag with the Alliance's logo printed on it. His friend seemed to agree as they pushed through the group on the landing pad. "Once that hunk o' metal is finished, I'm gonna go up there and take off!"

"Me too!" The second kid extended their arms horizontally from his torso, and dipped downward in a swooping motion. His friend joined him, circling the landing pad with their starbird paraphernalia. The landing pad's lights were still red, suggesting no shuttle was incoming just yet, so the attendants didn't seem to mind the kid's activities.

One of the kids, in lieu of a concussion missile, hurled his starbird flag at his friend. He missed, and the heavier part of the flag skittered across the floor to the group, stopping at Loske's boot. She stooped to pick it up, temporarily distracted by the memoire in her hand before the offspring appeared before her, hand out to retrieve his swag.

"You want to be a pilot?" Loske questioned. The kid nodded eagerly. "You gotta work on hitting moving targets." She simpered, handing the flag back to the outstretch palm.

The tides of war had finally changed in their fortunes. She felt a small shimmer of hope, and the beginnings of tear form in the corner of her eyes as the starbird went up. With the full collapse of the Republic, and the Imperial Confederation taking the core, they needed the Alliance more than ever.

"I would be partial to a discussion on strategy. If we want to secure our foothold, we have much to discuss."

She was speaking on the basis of economic overhaul and development. Every good empire needed a war chest. She had ideas on how to fill theirs...

3RD ALLIED FLEET; EXPEDITIONARY DETACHMENT

OVERSEEING DEFENSE INSTALLATION

As the fleet reorged above the skies of Elrood she was sweating in the gym once more. Everyday was the same. A four mile run down the corridors of Resolute Vengeance II, and then a lifting session. A quick shower and few moments of reading time was next. Then she made her way to the bridge, dressed in a rough looking, but pressed uniform.

The 3rd had been running exercises, skirmishing with Pirates and popping up here and there to fend off the odd Sharukan Sortie. Aside from that their last few years had been grim darkness, and deep space.

She was happy to be home.

"XO report?"

"Yes Ma'am."

They never snapped to attention to render a salute anymore. She'd put a stop to that. Her fleet were no longer just her subordinates. They were intimate family, deeper than even blood could be.

"We have the tugs en-route with the last of the Jast Defense Platforms. Two already installed in geosynchronous orbit. Last one today."

She nodded.

They were impressive little platforms. She'd met Hala Jast, the Shipwright, deep in the Outback. Since then she'd spent a considerable amount of time befriending the woman and running the odd errand for her when duty was not an issue. That had lead to a lucrative shorthand between the two. The platforms and her ships that she ran in the 3rd were mostly all deep discount.

It paid to rub elbows.

"When can we expect delivery of the Shipyards?"

"Within the next two days. We'll get two and tuck em in tight. Should be able to refit our fleet here. We have another headed for Sullust."

She was snatching up as many of Hala's Space Stations as the woman could provide. A strong economy would be central over the next few months. To get a fleet rebuilt cost mega credits. To expand the fleet as she was want to, cost even more.

"Send a Sitrep up to Admiral [member="Mazik Stazi"] and [member="Cathul Thuku"]. Arrange a holo call within the next 24."

"Will do."

"You have the con. I'm going to do some reading," She replied, striking a lighter and pulling a cigarette from her pocket.

"Let me know if anything else comes up."
