Artificial Intelligence
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Research Facility of Artificial Intelligence Generation and Testing
  • Classification: Research Facility/ Laboratory
  • Location: Coruscant (Floor 4120)
  • Affiliation: An Independent Research Organisation, Funded by the Galactic Alliance
  • Accessibility: This location is located at the heart of a fairly defended section of the floor, using its somewhat close location to the the planet's central power distribution grid on Floor 5000. There is only 1 primary way in and out to remove unwanted security risks.
  • Description: This location, looks like a highly official building, with a large gate made of durable steel, with a handful of guards standing watch, allowing only authorised people in, unless told otherwise by the chief of security for the facility. The main building is made of twelve floors above ground, with a handful hidden from sight below it, acting as a basement style of design. The walls are Gray, with windows of a blue-ish tint.
POINTS OF INTEREST

The Main Gate:
The main gates of the facility are always patrolled by at least 5 guards, each armed with a main blaster rifle and a slug thrower sidearm. Each are donned in medium armour, and the Galactic Alliance emblem on their shoulders. A large gate, separated into two lanes for vehicles or people walking in or out. Each lane has a metal gate for it, along with a Ray Shield that is active in front of the metal surface.

Main Reception: The main reception of the building is the first location anyone walks into. Its a fairly large area, with a long desk covering a majority of the first section from the doors. A set of detector frames line each side of the desk, for people wandering in and out. These scan every inch of a being as they walk through, with a security team watching over the area at all times. If the alarm is sounded, the person is scanned with a more accurate hand held version, whilst they are moved to the side as an act of "Detainment". The reception has six personnel behind it at all times, rotating with an evening shift for ease of work. Beyond these detectors and long desk, it the main area of the first floor. Lifts line the walls near the back, with a collection of small canteens and data panels that visitors can interact with to learn information on the Galactic Alliance and the Facility's early years.

Project Archive: Acting as the primary storage for all the projects that were classified as Failures, On-Going or Successful, this area is located two floors down from the Main Reception area, and like the rest of the underground floors and many of the upper floors, is only accessible by a member of the team responsible for the more High End Projects the facility is responsible for.

Primary Testing Laboratory: Whenever an AI Project needs to be tested on its relevant abilities for what its final result should be, this is the area it takes place. Armed with multiple databases containing battle simulations, information on starship travel and even some information on almost every race that has ever been discovered by the Galactic Alliance, with some going back into the time of the Galactic Empire era. Each AI is placed within the system and the corresponding simulation or test is activated. For Combat simulations, they are often selected at escalating difficulties, ranging from skirmishes all the way to battles for the sake of a planet's controlling faction or organisation.

Demonstration Hall: The Demonstration Hall is the primary location for Investors and Galactic Alliance representatives to gather and presented with different AIs that have been developed. This can range from tactical information being given on highly specific situations, tested in as many languages as can be, even some requests from the VIP guests to test their skills. The Hall's layout is fairly open, with the guests on one side of a large analytical wall of glass, statistics being shown across it, whilst most of the personnel are on the other, tinkering and maintaining the AI's test. A myriad of projectors allowing Hologrammatic Projections from the AI are fitted on each side of the roofs so interactions between Guest and Staff is possible. Some specially designed droid shells built for AIs to inhabit them are placed beside the Analytical glass wall to aid in some physical interactions.

SECURITY
Security Rating: HIGH
Exterior defences: Ray Shield barriers along main gates, Gates are 12 Inches (30CM) thick Durasteel with a reinforced cover to prevent heat based damage to force access, Surveillance Cameras along every building wall and along the gate. Typically ten different security personnel are placed outside the complex, guarding the gate, each armed with Blaster Carbines and a Slugthrower Pistol Sidearm. The main complex has a Lockdown defence system, securely locking all doors and exits across all floors in case anyone tries to steal any tech or cause any mayhem. This can be triggered by any security staff member of Second or First Ranks (Lieutenants or the Chief of security). It can also be triggered by the head of the AI team. Within the complex, security personnel are armed with stronger, versatile or lethal weaponry. Examples of such weaponry are: 8-gauge "AA8" Scattergun, LS-150 heavy Accelerated Charged Particle Repeater Gun, and TL-50 Heavy Repeaters. Personnel inside the complex are also equipped with heavier classed armour, increased plating and stunning grenades.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During the time when the Galactic Alliance was first reinstated, multiple departments and research facilities were set up with alternate goals in mind. One such location, was the "Research Facility of Artificial Intelligence Generation and Testing". This facility's goal was to develop experimental weaponry and Artificial Intelligences for multiple uses on the battlefield, at space stations and many various other purposes. However, developing the more advanced AIs necessary was proving more difficult. The many projects have only yielded Three AIs worthy of high interest purposes for the Galactic Alliances. The Alpha Project was to develop an AI that could aid in the departure of Fleets of starships for battle or supply shipments. The Beta Project was to create an AI that could speed up and maintain efficiency of Weaponry and Armour Factories. The Gamma Project was deemed a failure in their attempts to create an AI with the ability to hack any enemy servers to gain classified data. The Omega project, to design a Battle AI that could handle extreme tactical situations, is their current and most successful project to date. The AI, classified as "Omega-Alpha" as since evolved and developed into the unique AI, Nexus-1. Tests still continue to this day, but the promise of this AI's success has halted them from creating backups.
