Requisition of the Past
Objective 1
THE PIRATE BASE
In orbit above Ilum, an ancient Black Sun base has been retrofitted and brought back
online by a band of pirates; deal with them and secure the system for ground forces.
Objective 2
THE JEDI TEMPLE
An ancient building filled with knowledge and secrets of the Jedi, and while looted by
eager pirates for items to sell, may still hold artifacts to study and catalogue; secure the temple,
investigate structure, and seize any interesting objects for Viziter study.
Objective 3
THE CRYSTAL CAVES
Beneath the old Jedi Temple are a catacomb of crystal caves, but over decades of
abandonment and disuse, dangerous creatures have populated the vast network; find the source
of the infestation, either remove or destroy it, and secure the caves for future mineral operations.

Ilum.

For countless centuries it had been a place of solitude, seclusion and resource for the Jedi Order. For many Force Users it provided means of procuring rare lightsaber crystals, which were harvested from the system of caves beneath the icy planets surface. A proud Jedi Temple, built above the catacombs and cave networks, allowed the Jedi to train, meditate, study and in later years hide from danger. The history of the site has been turbulent, with various forces claiming it as their own for various reasons, while also having been lost to memory for a time before that. There once was Imperial and Republic bases, used as staging facilities in the region, as well as criminal elements that built a base in orbit to claim the valuable mining rights to the crystals below.

Now, the temple has long since been abandoned, having fallen into a state of disrepair. The once hallowed halls of the building now cracked, filled with debris and rubble, water damage from melted ice visible on the ceilings and walls. The library, armory, and other locations it held have been ransacked, a lot of objects with worth taken by eager pirates and looters. Still, not every chamber has been touched, and not every treasure of the past has been removed, leaving opportunity for those willing to search for it. It even appears some form of maintenance and cleaning has been done by a secluded species dedicated to preserving important sites.

And, above the planets orbit, is a reconstituted Black Sun base that houses a band of the same pirates, serving as their semi-permanent headquarters. They have reactivated the defense systems, brought in their frigates and starfighters, have jury-rigged additional weaponry onto the base itself and have claimed the sector as their own. Still, despite their numbers, the task of securing the sector and removing the pirates falls to the CEDF, in order to provide safe passage for their ground forces. Tactical planning and execution are essential for removing a heavily fortified and determined enemy from what they consider a credit resource worth defending.

However, the planet Ilum holds far more than simply pirates, dangerous creatures and Jedi treasure. There are also remnants of past, such as the Imperial junkyard filled with abandoned vessels and technology, the small Gree colony that has tried to maintain the Jedi temple as much as they could to preserve the site, as well as numerous military bases no longer in use from various military groups throughout the ages...

And so, with a flash of light and a reversion to realspace, the armada of the Chiss Ascendancy and its allies arrives above Ilum. Their objectives clear, their naval and ground forces ready, and the determination to secure the sector under the new Ascendancy expansion doctrine evident...

Kee was with the some marines, they had job of clearing out caves. They still on the drop ship, and she was doing final checks on her gear. She so far had been useful, but she was still wet behind the ears. That had become apparent to her, in few mission she has been on. She sat in her seat wondering what Ilum might bring, it was meant to be cold, which she did like. Though she did wonder if they have chance to goof off and have a snowball fight, as she thinks she might be able to take knives this time. She did wonder what a crystal mine looked like, would sparkle, would it be dangerous just to go in there, after all if they are disused would the buttress give way. Though they would have to be carefull down there, she hoped they had some sappers with them, to make sure they where safe going down. As mine structural safety was beyond her expertise, but she was sure MoM would made sure people with her knew it was safe or not.

She did a final check on her blaster, and made sure safety was on. She was nervous, but not as nervous as she use to be.

Objective 1
Location: Black Sun Base Orbiting Illum
Goal: Sabotage Pirates
Humming to himself, Kvelduf prowled through the station with a spark of self-satisfaction flickering beneath a mask of uncaring stoicism. Dressed in the skin of a tall, dark-skinned, fair-haired human male, Kvelduf looked nothing like his true form nor did he look anything like the humanoid form he assumed the most - the face with the name Kvelduf Ioscyn tied to it. Instead, the pirates that he had been slowly infiltrating, whose favour he had earned, were met with the face of one of their own, a man named Yel who had been, from the perspective of the pirates, the sole survivor of a failed raid. Of course, the truth of the matter was not so fortunate for poor Yel as Kvelduf, taking exception with him choosing to try and take what was Kvelduf's, had chosen to end Yel's life early and utilise his appearance to further the goals of the outlaw and the organisation he was currently under contract with; the Chiss Ascendancy.

Smuggler and often on the wrong side of the law though he may be, Kvelduf made the majority of his ill-gained income through contract work, and few contracts were as lucrative as the one he had with the Chiss Ascendency, their Intelligence Division to be precise.

The exact manner in how he could have come to the attention of the more shadowy arm of the Chiss government, recently re-establishing itself as the dominant political force of Csilla, was something that Kvelduf could only guess at, but, whatever act it was that he had done to draw their crimson gaze was one that he was thankful for. Though the contracts he worked under with the CEID were complicated and fully binding - if only due to the threat to his life that the Ascendancy's agents posed, alongside his own honour system - they were, most of all, lucrative work and work that he had no qualms undertaking. The fact that his innate abilities as a Gurlanin made him a valuable asset, one likely to be hired often, made Kvelduf more than happy to exploit the wants of the CEID.

Currently, his duties with the CEID was simple: infiltrate the pirate forces inhabiting the Black Sum base orbiting Illum and ensure that the defences of the station were suitably nullified before the main force of the Ascendency arrived. Further orders were to, if possible, find some way to neutralise the starfighters and frigates patrolling the space above Illum as well as guarding the station, however, doing so was beyond Kvelduf's scope. As such, he was focused on his primary orders, conscious of the metaphorical timer slowly ticking down in the back of his mind under his deadline was met and the Chiss' fleet would drop from hyperspace.

What the Chiss wanted on Illum and the system beyond extending their territory, Kvelduf did not know, but, whatever it was they were after was important enough to claim by martial force and the outlaw had no doubts that should said dominion fail due to the station's weapons not being neutralised, he would certainly feel the brunt of the CEID's wrath. As such, he was loathed to fail, even if complications meant that his deadline was counting down through the final minutes.

Stepping into the generator room of the station, Kvelduf's form rippled and shifted, fur spreading across his form and his bone structure reshaping itself as his specially made clothing stretched and shifted to accommodate him. In seconds, the form of a large-lupine creature stood within the entranceway. Snuffling and scenting the air, Kvelduf chuffed in satisfaction as, delicately, he reached into a pouch now hanging from his side and brought out a simple EMP device, listening to the whine of it charging up with satisfaction.

Most of the major generators might be safeguarded against such measures, but, the ones that had been hastily installed to power to jury-rigged weaponry were not and they would be his first targets before he would seek to enact further sabotage.

Objective 1: The Pirate Base
[member="Flitha'urian'alan"]
The familiar flash of hyperspace reversion flickered through a section of space at distance from the planet Ilum. A moderate Chiss fleet appeared in realspace, composed of a flagship, battlecruiser, several frigates and some support vessels. They were already position in formation, spaced evenly in a triangular facing trajectory, with the direction being the planet ahead. Across the fleet commands were issued, orders carried out, naval personnel preparing for the battle to come. It was organized chaos, each soldier trained and drilled to act almost subconsciously, knowing where to go and where to be and what time they had to arrive. The Chiss Expansionary Defense Force prided itself on precision and effectiveness, so it came as no surprise that their preparation time and responsiveness were quick.

On the bridge of a Mohn-Class Battlecruiser named the Sovereign, otherwise known as the Csahn'arcsi in Cheunh, stood the unmoving form of Vice Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod. The Chiss commander looked out of the viewport, red eyes in thought as he considered the distant planet Ilum before him. It was barely a small dot from this range, the reported pirate base in its orbit all but invisible due to distance, however the advantage being that the CEDF fleet was out of sensor range. The ships of the assault force were all going through preparation phases, readying their compliments of officers, marines, pilots and transports. Without needing to check on his own people, Mitth'orn'eruod knew his crew were doing exactly as they had been trained to do - there was simply no point in repeating orders, as the Chiss did not require such nagging.

"Communications, open a tight-beam frequency to the Vanguard," Mitth'orn'eruod said with a glance over his shoulder to the Chiss at the appropriate panels. "Also confirm all fleet vessels have reverted to realspace following our Ozyly-esehembo guide effort."

Despite the capabilities of the Force Sensitive group known as the Ozyly-esehembo, who served as highly skilled fleet navigators through hyperspace, the Vice Admiral still didn't quite trust the Force. If he had his way, the CEDF would simply rely fully on navigation systems, though even Mitth'orn'eruod couldn't deny the advantage of split-second hyperspace travel. Perhaps the power to view the future in such a manner unnerved Mitth'orn'eruod, or perhaps he simply didn't trust every Ozyly-esehembo to be wholly accurate... yet thankfully they had been so far, even after a decade of service. Accidents caused by Force navigation were very rare.

"Communications ready, Vice Admiral," The crewman said as he flipped several switches and pressed a sequence of buttons. "Also I can confirm all vessels are accounted for."

"Vanguard, this is Vice Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod of the Sovereign," The Chiss said in a low tone, his voice carrying across the simple transmission. There would be no holographic display, to avoid broadcasting to any nearby enemy forces. "Reporting successful reversion of fleet from Ozyly-esehembo hyperspace traversal and request communication with Admiral Flitha'urian'alan for pre-engagement orders. Sovereign standing by."

And now Mitth'orn'eruod would wait, his gloved hands clasped at the small of his back. He still watched outside the viewport, eyeing down the distant Ilum with glowing red eyes...

The Chiss Ascendancy were not the only ones to have great interest in the Ilum system. Several days prior, the newly crowned Emperor of the Pentastar Alignment, Lannis Morcus, had split off from his main fleet with a sizeable task force to secure the planet and it's incredibly valuable resource of kyber crystals for his fledgling Empire. While a prefabricated base had been deployed to the planetary surface already, the space above Ilum still remained contested. Three Imperial II-class Star Destroyers from the task force established a rudimentary blockade around the asteroid, engaging it and the flotilla defending it while their TIE squadrons engaged the Black Sun's defending StarViper squadrons.

A fourth vessel, the Emperor's personal Conqueror-class Star Destroyer, watched the engagement from a safe distance. Morcus gazed out of the front viewport of the bridge at the battle before him, hands gently clasped behind his back, beneath his long black cloak. His fleet admiral approached him, bowing politely before he addressed his monarch. "My liege, our sensors have picked up the arrival of an armada at the edge of the system. The Chiss and their allies, it seems.", he said with a hint of concern. Emperor Morcus turned to face him, smirking slightly. "I expected their arrival eventually. Extend to them my greetings, and that of the Pentastar Alignment. I suspect we have business to discuss, once these bothersome pirates have been dealt with."

Objective: BYOO - investigate the construct around Amily, the third moon of Mayferria
Location: In orbit of Mayferria
Tags: [member="Dezoti"], anyone else interested in exploring a strange new place

The Chiss Ascendancy had reclaimed their home. Once more, they were a power in the galaxy. More known than ever, but as an entity they were to be respected nonetheless. Rebuilding Csilla and countless other Chiss worlds effected by civil unrest and foreign invaders was well underway. While there was a great deal of focus on the infrastructure at home, there were plenty of other issues pressing the newly independent government. Neighbors, colonies, and worlds once under the dominion of the Ascendancy which had been cast aside as a result of the recent turmoil were once more calling upon their former overlords for protection, aid, and a renewal of order.

A Chiss Destroyer orbited one such place. The planet of Mayferria, though never fully integrated within the Ascendancy, had a significant Chiss colony settled on its southern continent. Over ten million Chiss settlers called the world home. And while the other inhabitants of the planet did not consider themselves to be members of the Ascendancy, neither did they deny the Chiss population their desire for a return to their sovereignty. With the newly minted Ascendancy charter in place, the stability offered by the Chiss in exchange for nothing but loyalty was hard for less civilized worlds to spurn. Such was the case for so many planets within the Unknown Regions for so many centuries.

But Sentiri had not come to the world to open a dialogue with the locals. Since her exile was commuted, the woman had been assigned to the Division as a Master Agent within the analytics department of the Intelligence Division. Considering her experience with House Sabosen’s former Security Division and her extensive repertoire with the First Order Security Bureau, the appointment made sense. Sentiri was not surprised by the posting. While her exile might have been mitigated, placing her back into the Sabosen family’s Phalanx would cause more than one raised eyebrow. The agent’s position was still in flux, but the concept was that she would serve as an Intelligence liaison to various field squads as well as occasionally serving in the field where an active analytics perspective was required.

The CEID officer stood by a prepped freighter in a docking bay awaiting the others in her team. Datapad in her hands, she continued to review her objective. Amily, Mayferria’s third moon, had gone completely silent. The artificial intelligence “Technis” which created the construct was a constant presence in the system. Lately, however, that voice had disappeared.

The MOHN-class Chiss Star Battlecruiser was one of the new capital ships the Chiss Ascendancy Defense Fleet had rolled out since the Civil War took place. For all its might and glory, the hangar space left a bit to be desired, well at least from one starfighter pilot's point of view. But overall, the ship was well designed.

The Wing Commander's pilots entered their Clawcraft in a purposeful and orderly fashion when the "Sovereign" was two minutes out from reversion. The 201st, 203rd, and the 205th Fighter Squadrons along with the 207th Bomber Squadron made up the Rinsi or more so "Saber Wing". Commander Hess'iva'nuruodo would be leading the 201st personally, designation SS 201-1 or by callsign Bluejay, though that was seldom used on fleet missions. It was mostly utilized when secrecy was needed on spec ops sortes.

As soon as the top hatch on the spherical-shaped cockpit of her Nssis-class Clawcraft was secured by the tech atop the rack platform, "Sivan" began the preflight checklist. When that was done, she called for squadron leaders to check-in. All thirty-two Chiss craft were green to go including her eight.

Ilum Space - The Pirate Base

The system of Ilum was tough to reach, even with modern charts and hyperdrives. The Pentastar Alignment, a burgeoning Imperial faction comprised of several disparate Imperial remnant groups, had come to assist in the pacification of the system, as part of the greater Chiss Ascendancy.

Without warning, Auriana's fleet emerged from hyperspace and began targeting the pirates, and their base. First to emerge was the Pentastar Destroyer Imperial Fist, but right behind it came the monstrous Vanguard; Auriana's new command ship. Imperial Fist's guns opened up, as the larger vessel moved into position, activating its gravity well projectors to prevent enemy escape.

First she opened a comm to the Chiss forces.
::All Ascendancy forces prepare to accept enemy surrender, if that is not forthcoming, destroy all resistance without mercy.::

tumblr_on6tusVj7C1smw5dno1_1280.gif
The Pentastar-Class Star Destroyer smashed all before it. Its massive kyber-focused Megamasers made short work of the closest pirate defensive emplacements and small ships that moved against it.

Standing on the bridge of the Vanguard, overseeing the assault, Auriana switched to an open frequency, blanketing the Ilum system.

::This is the Chiss Ascendancy. Power down your weapons systems, lower your shields, and broadcast your unconditional surrender. Failure to comply will be met with deadly force. You have ten seconds.::

Auriana counted the ten off theatrically on her fingers. No response was forthcoming from the pirates via the comm, but Turbolaser fire back at the Chiss ships was enough reply. She turned to her weapons officer and XO.

Very well, they've had their chance. All batteries, commence fire.

Imperial Fist herself possessed impressive firepower, but even she was dwarfed by the Vanguard's colossal size, and array of heavy megamasers. These now added their considerable fire to the Fist's guns, blasting away at the pirate forces.

Pressing the advantage, Imperial Fist moved forward, engaging opposition. Both ships launched squadron after squadron of the brand-new Clawcraft-x fighters. Vanguards arrays of heavy megamasers engaged the Pirate station, scoring several direct hits. Auriana switched to the Chiss secure comms.

Her voice remained calm, clear, and unfailingly precise.

::Squadrons Aurek through Herf, escort patrol. Everyone else, break and attack.::

That order left eight squadrons to escort the capital ships, while the remaining twenty would engage enemy targets at will.

Ilum would be brought to peace today, and under the strict but fair and reasonable control of the Chiss Ascendancy. Auriana only had to pave the way.

While not exactly in uniform with the Chiss Military, the Chiss Hybrid was able to reach an accord with the leaders of Chiss society to act as a loyal mercenary for then. He would be given no rank and no authority from his employers which was fine with Alezan. He didn't come for any of that nor put up a hard bargain. What he did care for was to act on his own and only answer to high ranking officers in the military, not to some sergeant or anything of the such. Be granted complete freedom in his operations so long as he completed them and acted on special instructions.

That was all fine with Alezan.

Coming "home" to his roots, Chiss society was more complicated than what his mother told him when living on Thule. Everything was about rank and military service. Combat and warfare was something Alezan understood, but being in line with extremely disciplined soldiers? Not something he was fond of. He had enough with working with Mandalorians, Thyrsians, and other warriors from their own respective cultures.

What his employers had commanded him to do was work alongside with the Chiss soldiers to secure the catacombs of a Jedi Temple that stood above it. Light up any hostiles that would be a future threat for mining in those caves. That he could do.

The Chiss mercenary, geared in the necessary armor and weapons for this chilly task, would land about in his own personal corvette. He wouldn't act alone in his squad. He had his own team of mercenaries he hired. Some were familiar, others were not. And they were all non-Chiss. No doubt his own people would frown at them and make some...xenophobic comments about them. Some slander would probably thrown at his way too. But again he operated freely, so long he completed the mission and was obedient to his employers.

"You guys know the drill and what to expect. Try to tolerate whatever remarks are thrown at you so we avoid internal strife. The faster we finish, faster you get your other half of the pay."

All of his mercenaries answering in agreement.

Now to see how bad the other Chiss would take Alezan and his ragtag team.

Joint operations were always a tricky thing to pull off. There were different rules and regulations with the various organizations under the Chiss Ascendancy, especially when it came to the CEID. Intelligence was as shady as anything could get, and Dezoti wasn't very trusting. But, there was a need to work with them from time to time. And if there was ever a time to get over the mistrust she had, it was while the Ascendancy was at it's strongest.

The Commando stepped onto the bridge in full armor with her heavy pistol on her hip, heading right for her contact. Sentiri, with her helm in her hand. "Master Agent Sabosen'tir'inrokini, reporting in. What's the mission specs?"

The Solace decanted from hyperspace towards the back of the Chiss Fleet that had arrived at Ilum. There were escort ships on either side of the medical frigate in case she came under attack. A pirate base was said to be present and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force was here to root them out along with ceasing the planet and any valuable assets for the Chiss Ascendancy.

Brask'ari'sabosen stood on the bridge hands clasped behind the small of her back near the captain of the vessel. The Senior Medical Officer watched with awe and pride as the Flagship of the Fleet ahead and its companion capital ships accompanied by their fighters began to open up their mighty barrage at the measly ones the pirates had. It would have been much wiser to surrender.

As soon as the space lanes were clear enough, ground forces would start to deploy to the surface of the icy snow world. Ilum was much like Csilla so the Chiss troops touching down were ready for the weather extremes they would face.

The Battle Surgeon herself would be going to ground as soon as the rear area of conflict was secure with one of the Chiss Mobile Surgical Units -CMSU or "Cimsoo" for short. Hopefully there would be minimal casualties on their side, but just in case the Chiss Medical Corps was ready to handle all needs of those wounded in battle.

Objective 2
Extract Information

A small team of scientists, accompanied by several armed guards of Csillian Laboratories, ventured into the Jedi Temple. At the head of this group was Csillian Labs Head Doctor Marina. The young doctor had taken on this mission, on behalf of the Ascendancy, to extract as much valuable knowledge from the temple as she could and bring it back to Csilla for research and storage purposes. She had her own ambitions, but the needs of the Ascendency came before her own.

"Doctor, where shall we proceed?" asked one of the scientists.

"The Archives are this way. Hopefully, there will be enough power running for us to access a decent amount of information." Marina replied.

"Yes, doctor. Captain, have your men move forward and please keep them out of the way. Doctor Marina doesn't need you in the way of our research." the scientist stated.

"Yes, ma'am." replied the guard captain.

The small team continued to move forward. Some took notes of the architecture and mapped out the temple for future endeavors should the need arise while others readied their surveying and extraction equipment.

9TH MARINE PLATOON TRANSPORT
Objective 3: Secure the Crystal Caves
Location: Entering Ilum Orbit
[member="Alezan"]

The assault had begun. As the main CEDF fleet moved to engage the pirates, the CEMC transports appeared from hyperspace from a different system angle. The idea was to avoid the space conflict, to leave that to the flyboys, and to approach Ilum from low orbit and land on the objective. So far things were going well, even as Chaf'arcar'usorn looked at his men, crimson eyes narrowed. They were silent, preparing, gear and weapons ready. It was time to spread the good news...

"Listen up, Niners," Chaf'arcar'usorn said loudly, as he walked to the front of the transport, hand grasping an overhead rail as atmospheric pressure began to affect the ship. "Our mission today is to traverse, clear and secure the caves beneath the Jedi Temple. We have basic intelligence from scouts, which indicate some caverns are small and narrow, while others are very large and open. This means we need to be prepared for sudden spatial changes, and varying sizes of possible threats."

"What's so important about the caves, Cap?" A Private called out as he strapped his helmet into place.

"Glad you asked, Private," Chaf'arcar'usorn said with a smirk. "The caves contain natural formations of lightsaber crystals, which the Jedi used to make their weapons in the past. Nowadays, the Defense Hierarchy wants that resource, and plans to distribute what our Viziters don't use to the Sith... so, before we can mine them, we need to secure them, and kill or remove whatever wants to stop us."

An orange light appeared within the passenger area, indicating rapid descent to the objective zone.

"Boots on the ground in two minutes, be ready!"

The marines shouted, to which Chaf'arcar'usorn nodded and steadied himself for the arrival on the surface...

* * *
"Move, Niners, move, move," Chaf'arcar'usorn called out, standing at the top of the rampway from the transport. He watched as the platoon of forty Chiss marines under his command began rushing onto the cold icy surface of Ilum. "Look how warm it is, boys. This is like a tropical getaway compared to Csilla!"

The marines let out a cheer, which brought a smirk to Chaf'arcar'usorn's face. When the last dozen soldiers exited the transport, the Captain ran down after them. The platoon was geared up in standard marine armor, armed with a variety of charric weapon variants, and were prepared for securing the cave system. Support craft would provide depth scans, four squads would spread out and double ground covered, and Chaf'arcar'usorn would be working with a new mercenary with some Chiss heritage.

Seemed simple enough.

Chaf'arcar'usorn turned to his communications specialist, narrowing his eyes.

"Do we have comms with the mercs? As soon as they land, have them move over to Niner-One and I'll share the good word."

"Yessir," The comm specialist said, as he crouched and began operating his intricate backpack systems.

"This is it, boys, divide into your squads, watch your brother's back, and do not forget to update your mapping equipment. We need viable and clear cave system layouts for our techs to use for mining. Move out."

The marines acknowledged and began separating in groups of ten into smaller squads, with Sergeants in place to lead those smaller units. Chaf'arcar'usorn waited, assault rifle over one shoulder, as he watched the skies above, looking for the merc leader's ship...

Objective 1
Black Sun Base; Orbit Above Ilum
[member="Karisa"] | [member="Flitha'urian'alan"] | [member="Sivan"] | [member="Lannis"] Morcus | [member="Thorne"]
A purr of satisfaction rumbled from within Kvelduf's throat, sounding out alongside the noise of his snuffling as he prowled deeper into the generator room whilst ensuring that no one else was present. A skilled hunter from birth, such actions were instinctive for the Gurlanin, allowing his thoughts to wander as his large, lupine-like form prowled deeper into the room, passing the inactive generators that had been powering the defence systems of the seized Black Sun base.

As far as he was aware, at the present moment as the mental timer he was keeping in his head ticked down to zero, the Chiss Fleet would be arriving any moment. However, that called into question the fleet that he had heard the pirates muttering about as they ran to ready their defences. According to his briefings, as well as according to his knowledge of Chiss operations from his previous experience working under the CEID, the CEDF would arrive as a single unit, punctual to the extreme. For there to already be a fleet advancing towards and blockading the base was cause for concern. However, that said, the only concern that Kvelduf held was whether or not this unexpected force would interfere with his payment, his duties with the Chiss always serving to line his pockets nicely and ensure that he could continue to operate and live in the same manner of lifestyle as he had become accustomed to.

Shaking his head to dispel his thoughts, Kvelduf drew to a halt as he reached the platform stationed dead centre of the room. Looking up, he caught sight of a couple of confused pirates running to-and-fro as they tried to figure out why their defence systems had failed and numerous generators that weren't proving essential power had gone offline. A truly wolfish smirk pulled at his snout, the pride in his abilities to slide out of the notice of prey and predators as he had been taught in his youth by his parents shining visibly in his eyes, as his muscles coiled and tensed in preparation for the leap he was about to make.

Waiting until one of the pirates had drawn close to the edge of the platform above him, Kvelduf bounded forwards once before leaping through the air towards the unsuspecting target, his claws slicing through the air with deadly accuracy, tearing through the man's throat and sending him crashing to the ground, crimson blood spraying from the pirate's neck and soaking Kvelduf's fur. The sudden appearance of a 60k, 4' tall wolf looking creature on top of their friend - or, at the least, their ally - stunned the remaining pirates long enough that Kvelduf was able to make note of the fear blossoming on their features as his claws once more lunged forwards, tearing through the flesh of the second of the five pirates.

Ignoring the wet thud and gurgling of the female Twi'lek, her hands desperately clutching at her throat in a futile attempt to save her life, Kvelduf threw back his head and howled, driving the sense of fear deeper into the hearts of his prey, before leaping forwards to lock his jaws around the neck of the Rodian of the group. Spinning around while shaking his head, Kvelduf waited until he heard a snap ring out and feet the reverberations within his teeth as the Rodian's neck snapped and they nought more than a limp body hanging from his jaws before tossing the lifeless corpse through the air and into one of the two remaining pirates, sending him off of the platform and down onto the floor of the generator floor.

Yelping in pain, a searing flash of heat ran along Kvelduf's left flank, the blaster bolt burning through the coat that hung from his shoulders and tearing along his side. Turning around to face the source of the shot, Kvelduf leered at the shaken Human female, taking pleasure in the scent of pure terror surrounding the prey that had decided to fight back. Seeing her visible steel herself to make another shot, the barrel of her blaster coming to bear on him once more, Kvelduf snorted before his claws lashed out and once more the sound of blood splattering across metal was heard - along with the final gasps of someone's life.

Shaking his head to try and remove some of the blood clinging to his fur, Kvelduf's form shrunk and twisted until his normal human form was present - tattoo like markings and all. Running a hand through his black and green hair, wincing as the blaster wound on his side protested the movement, the outlaw casually meandered over to the side of the platform and peered down at the last remaining pirate. Trapped beneath the body of his fellow Rodian, he was groaning in pain, visibly dased from the fall he had just taken - and from landing on his head if the slowly growing pool of crimson blood was to be believed. As Kvelduf unholstered his slugthrower from his hip, the last sight the Rodian saw as his vision cleared slightly was the visage of a bloodstained youth with cold, grey, predatory eyes before a slug was fired between his eyes and the last of his life left him.

Huffing in annoyance, mainly at how long it had taken him to clear up, Kvelduf ignored the metallic smell of blood filling the air as well as the blood covering him as he reached into a pouch on his belt and withdrew a commlink; one connected to his contact within the CEDF's forces. "Stage one completed - Redundant and defence generators disabled. All defence systems barring the rudimentary are neutralised. Proceeding to the second stage. Any orders regarding unknown blockade?"

Her dropship had landed, she got out and saw a groups mercs, well they will be the undisciplined scum, cannon fodder. Then she saw the marines, they where the backbone of the chiss ascendancy. Sure not as well trained as her or as well equipped, but they where the mass ranks that carried the fight forward. They held the ground, and the numbers to do so. She did not care for mercs, though it was better they died than a fellow chiss. She moved out her job was to help the marine captain, and that is what she would do. She moved over to him, and away from the mercs, so they would not hear her opening words.

She waited for him to stop talking to his men, and then she went over to the captain. Lieutenant Kee reporting for duty, she said and him gave a quick salute. Then continued talking, but low enough so no merc could hear her, I see we have cannon fodder for this task. She was more than happy to let any non chiss die, as it was better them than one of there own. So what is the objective sir? She stood at ease, and waited to hear his plan, and what he wanted her to do.

"Sir, yes, Sir!" the Chiss Marines of the 9th Platoon shouted out in a chorus aboard their transport as the two minute warning to infil was given by the commanding officer, Chaf'arcar'usorn.

Last minute weapon and gear checks were quickly finished up before the drop ship landed and offloaded the "Niners" near Ilum's infamous Crystal Caves. When the status lights on the floor decking flicked from red to green, the marines exited down the lowered boarding ramp in an efficient manner and out into snowy, ice covered environment. Lucky for them their thermal body gloves and cold weather accessaries kept them warm under their armor. Chiss were prepared for this.

Fraz'suz'safis bristled when the Captain kept referring to his soldiers as boys and brothers. She knew what he meant, but the Marines present weren't all of the male persuasion. There were ladies and sisters there as well. The female Chiss though didn't bring that point up for discussion as now was not the time, and it would be a losing battle with him anyway.

With orders given, Fraz'suz'safis turned to her squad. "You heard Captain Chaf'arcar'usorn... Theta Squad, move out. Six take point," the Sergeant called out over their inner squad comms, then brought her rifle up to ready as the group spread out in formation; taking much note of the Commando, a lieutenant it seemed, that had joined the assembled Marines as the outbound squad passed by.

....And Suz thought she had attitude. lol

“Reversion in three, two, one-”
The streaming kaleidoscopic energy patterns of the hyperspace tunnel disappeared in a sudden burst of white light as the countdown concluded, replaced for an instant by the light of a thousand distant stars that seemed to stretch on into infinity before the vista resolved to reveal the canvas of real space.
“Reversion complete. All ships of the fleet accounted for.”
Vhirr’bel'laminis surveyed the silent tapestry of stars revealed before her, a soft gasp as she noted the ominous form of the Vanguard hanging in the void, accompanied by the Imperial Fist - a giant in its own right that was simply dwarfed in the shadow of the hulking command ship.
The second formation under the command of the Vice Admiral was arrayed in laudable order, though none of those vessels was comparable in size to the giant in their midst.
A swarm of fighter escorts flooded the lesser tactical maps with callsigns and relayed data reports, however, Bella's attention was turned to the deportment of the strike-force under her own command.
With only the comparatively modest rank of Captain to her name Bella's formation had little expectation of much in the way of glory in this endeavour; Instead, she concerned herself with achieving her assigned task in this theatre whilst maintaining the exacting precision her fleet had come to exemplify.
Her own vessel, the highly decorated destroyer Sentinel (or Fehr’osna ) was one amongst the smaller predators present, but she too was attended by her own shoal of escorts and support vessels. To her starboard a trio of veteran cruisers formed a tight echelon; To the rear trailed the twin carriers, whose flanks were patrolled by the pair of Corvettes, designated Hound I and II.
On Bella's signal, the carriers and cruisers disgorged their own flights of escorting elegant Nssis-Class Clawcraft.
“Captain, the enemy stronghold appears to be under assault already, three Imperial-II class Star Destroyers are attempting to blockade the target.”
Bella's smouldering red eyes turned to the tactical station, gaze narrowing as she considered the development. Who else was interested in Ilum. She had never been comfortable with surprises.
“Signal our arrival to the fleet, My orders are to picket. Let the bigger ships carry the brunt of the fight, should it arise. We hunt the stragglers and intercept any incoming reinforcements.”
Vhirr’bel'laminis turned to send a short signal to the Admiral and Vice Admiral on the field, stating her arrival and the disposition of her forces, before dispatching a dozen squadrons of Nssis-Class Clawcraft to join with those already engaged, holding a full half of her fighters in reserve aboard their carriers.
“Take us to half speed, keep us out of the main fleet's manoeuvres,”
The course orders Bella had set had been carefully calculated to bring her strike-force to within optimal range of the most likely arrival point for incoming enemy vessels from hyperspace, the second fleet's third strike-force were hunters at heart, and for now, they would lie in wait.

Desmond had been lying in his bunk for sometime, albeit he didn't get much sleep. He was waiting... Simply waiting for the battle to begin. The thought terrified him. He had been in hundreds of space skirmishes, but he never got used to the waiting. He was anxious to get started, it built up like a pit in his stomach. Made him want to hurl, but he would not appear weak in front of his squadron. The collapse of the Empire had left him with a deep seated regret, something that he never quiet got over. He could still taste the booze on his breath. It was an unhealthy coping mechanism and during times of stress such as this, he medicated even more.

The klaxons began to roar and Desmond nearly jumped. He nodded for the rest of his squad to head towards the lockers. Once the last was out Desmond withdrew a flask from his bed and pulled heavily from it. He hid the flask once more and headed towards the locker room. His men were already dressed in jumpsuits and he quickly followed. They adorned their helmets and made way to the hangars. Red sirens flashed at every corner as people raced to their battle stations. It gave Desmond a headache. The helmet and rebreather was stuffy, but still Desmond felt at home in it.

They reached the hanger and Desmond looked for his claw craft. He entered it with the ease of a man who had handled a hundred different star fighters. He was at home behind the yoke of a ship. His drunken stupor seemed to turn into clarity as he flipped switches on the control panel. His squad did the same and Desmond noted all ships were ready.

"Infer-" Desmond caught himself as the word slipped from his mouth "Gale squadron ready,"

"You are clear for take off," A voice buzzed in his ear.

Desmond smiled "Alright lads let's give 'em hell,"

Pressing the yoke forward Desmond's ship was the first to leave the hangar...

Objective 1: The Pirate Base
[member=Flitha'urian'alan] | [member=Karisa] | [member=Sivan] | [member=Vhirr’bel'laminis] | [member="Kvelduf Ioscyn"] | [member="Lannis Morcus"]
The battle began in earnest, with Admiral Flitha'urian'alan not wasting time. She had a purpose, she saw the enemy, and it simply came down to defeating them quickly and effectively. Mitth'orn'eruod couldn't disagree, though he had wanted more of a plan going into the battle itself; yet, considering they were up against an inferior force with a mild military base in orbit, the chances of needing advanced strategy were minimal. This was simply an extermination mission. Another strikeforce arrived from hyperspace, the confirmation codes coming through from Captain Vhirr’bel'laminis on the fleet frequency. She was a promising commander, one Mitth'orn'eruod was keeping an eye on.

"Confirmed Second Strikegroup joining fleet formations."

Mitth'orn'eruod nodded, before he looked over his shoulder for a moment, getting his second's attention.

"Commodore, follow the Admiral's lead, have Talon Two maintain wedged formation on us, while Talon Three and Talon Four remain behind our approach," Mitth'orn'eruod said, watching from the viewport as the Admiral's battlegroup began to press forward, maser turrets firing in blistering display through space. "Launch all Clawcraft and Clawcraft-X squadrons, but have the bombers remain behind our line until the order is given. Clawcrafts may begin engaging pirate fighters and hindering support cruisers and frigates as able."

The orders were confirmed and relayed, and the various machinations of the command machine began churning. It was pleasing, knowing that from a single order, a finely honed and precise sequence of events would take place and result in complete perfection. The CEDF was a finely crafted weapon with which to strike against the enemies of the Chiss people. It was a glorious sight to behold, one that made Mitth'orn'eruod proud...

* * *
Meanwhile, in the flight command crew of the bridge, a Lieutenant quickly pressed several sequences of buttons on his panel. The commlink buzzed to life and his voice spoke clearly...

"Flight control here, copy that, Saber Lead. You are given permission to launch," The Chiss officer said, voice crisp. "Your orders are to advance on enemy fighter squadrons, engage and destroy. You are then ordered to begin diversionary tactics on pirate support vessels, while Talon One and Two engage the larger pirate fleet. When you are ready to engage the larger vessels, you have been given command of three bomber squad held in reserve, designation Lancer One, Lancer Two and Lancer Three. Good hunting, Saber."

On the control board, the squadron appeared. Numerous flashing lights began to show, indicating the pilots - and their assigned fighters - were pre-flight checked and prepared to launch on the leader's command. The flight commander wished all the fighters luck, as he continued through the permission sequence...

* * *
Back on the command bridge, Mitth'orn'eruod listened as his communications crew informed him of an incoming transmission from an operative under their employ.

"Admiral, we have been contacted by Operative Yel, he has confirmed stage one on the pirate base has been completed," The Ensign said, before waiting on a response.

"Excellent, inform Operative Yel that stage two is green," Mitth'orn'eruod said simply, nodding.

"Operative also requests orders concerning the blockade?"

"Any communication tampering will assist us, also raising false alarms and alerts could also assist in causing further confusion to the base."

"Yessir, relaying message."

Mitth'orn'eruod turned back to the viewport, noticing that another non-pirate battlegroup was engaging the pirates. It seemed there were others in the system that sought to persuade the vermin that had moved into the system to relocate. He wondered if the Admiral would make communication with the unknown vessels that were on the same mission, albeit from different factions. Nonetheless, the battle continued to rage, as the megamaser turrets fired powerful lancing blasts through space, impacting with the station and several of the cruisers that surrounded it.

"Open communications to Admiral Flitha'urian'alan," Mitth'orn'eruod said, before waiting a moment for the channel to open. "Admiral, sensors indicate an unknown battlegroup also engaging the base and pirate vessels. What are your orders concerning the visitors? They appear focused on our mutual enemy."

Blue and green continued to flash beyond the thick transparisteel. The Csahn'arcsi also took some impacts, the shields flashing brightly from distant impacts of turret fire...

Objective: BYOO - investigate moon-sized construct around Amily
Location: Mayferria, in orbit of and moving towards the planet's third moon
Allies: [member="Dezoti"]

"You must be Captain Prusde'zoti'lore," Sentiri stated presumptively at the armored woman. The combat suit was intimidating, to say the least. With the helmet off, gender was far easier to identify. Otherwise the Captain would just have been another faceless soldier. Sentiri appreciated being able to see her compatriot's face. The face made someone real. A mask of war might as well just make a soldier a droid. People were far more interesting than droids.

"The Mayferrians have requested aid from the Ascendancy. The third moon of this planet requires investigation." As Sentiri began going through the mission briefing, she motioned towards the CEDF sanctioned shuttle they'd be using for the operation. The CEID agent boarded the prepped vessel as she spoke. "Even upon basic visual examination of the moon, the technological construct is obvious. The moon has been completely surrounded by machinery. Known as a dyson sphere, these typically surround stars in order to harness energy. For one to be surrounding a moon is unusual."

Sitting in the pilot's seat, Sentiri gave the shuttle the command codes to seal the hatch and sent a signal to the bay's flight control operator for lift off clearance, which was received in short order. "According to the local population, the construct was built by some sort of artificial intelligence calling itself Technis. The AI was quite a vocal presence in the system for generations. Lately, though, the AI has been silent."

The shuttle rose from the deck in a smooth motion, carefully glided out of the bay and then rocketed off towards Amily. "Officially, we're supposed to determine why the construct isn't talking." The CEID agent cast a sideways glance at the Commando. "Unofficially, the Ascendancy wants us to determine the value of the construct and whether or not the moon has any technologies or weapons that can be either replicated or removed and brought back."
