STRENGTHS
- Swarmlord: The Regent Class makes use of an extensive internal hangar bay system dominating half the vessels superstructure. Four different hangar bay entrances are spread out around the central portion of the Regent Class, each one capable of holding a single squadron of fighters. A conveyor system brings up further craft from within the large internal storage, allowing for the rapid deployment of starfighters.
- Roundabout: The Regent Class makes use of heavy, fast acceleration engines to allow the ship to accelerate and pursue fleeing ships, or move to engage threats quickly once identified. This burst of speed comes at the expense of maneuvering thrusters, and the Regent Class is unable to rapidly alter its course, putting the ship at increased risk in rapidly changing environments.
Plan Vermillion was concocted by Field Marshal Gregory Navikov with the sole purpose of further the defensive capability of the Commonwealth's territory. With the growing risk of invaders near their frontier worlds, and the potential for piracy from other regions of the galaxy, a vessel capable of acting as a force multiplier while on isolated patrols was decided upon. Commonwealth engineers took to the theory that a single ship would be able to patrol a region of space, freeing up larger tasks forces for defensive deployment elsewhere. As a single ship though, this vessel would need to be able to hold its own and deal with a variety of threats, so it was decided it would be commissioned as a patrol carrier. The first batch of ships began construction in orbit near Dosuun itself, and after a series of successful anti-piracy missions, full scale production of the Regent Class was approved.
