Location:
Bescane - surface, Industrial park A

Bescane's Industrial Park A was the first of the extensive industrial megalocations that were being developped on the industrial world within Diarchy Territory and in essence run and operated wholly by the N&Z Umbrella Corporation. it was there that the chairman of the N&Z; Tertius C Nargath would be waiting at the transport hub for a man whom he had personally invited in order to discuss a potential cooperation venture which could be in the interest of both parties.

Tertius was aware of Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell and the Dashiell Incorporated conglomorate thanks to the former and the latter's connections to the CIG, not to mention the few interactions the two have had across the corporate landscape. the fact Tertius also knew several of the Scrap King's associates such as Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau and Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell also added some validity to their acknowledgement to eachother, whether it be onesided or not. However, it was because of these connections and associations that the Marquis of Valkan knew with certainty that Judah Dashiell was THE man needed by the N&Z in its pursuit of turning Bescane into an extremely efficient, well-oiled and smoothly running operation. The reason for this was clear, the N&Z had need for the Dashiell's expansive expertise on scrapping and salvaging goods and materials. After all, a world based on production and manufacturing would always create lots of surplus goods and materials, which wouldn't all be possible to seel through known channels and wouldn't be smart to just store unconditionally and without a term limit. Thus scrapping and salvaging these surplus goods and materials was thought to be the most sensible and useful option.

As such, Tertius had sent an invitation through the proper channels in order to provide Judah Dashiell a business opportunity, knowing the fact that the Dashiells had yet to properly penetrate the Diarchy's market, the Marquis doubted Judah would deny himself this opportunity to expand the Dashiell holdings. After all, despite initial struggles, so far the N&Z has shown to be quite willing to work with Dashiell incorporated, especially now, when it found itself increasingly isolated by the politics within the diarchy which favored state-funded and state-sanctioned companies and corporate entities over the more galaxy-wide neutral corporate entities such as the N&Z itself. Now luckily, the N&Z had managed to create an undeniable foothold within the Diarchy, allowing it to still function as the most senior company to the diarchy and the undisputable leader in terms of influence. Setting up Judah Dashiell as a counter to these state-sanctioned companies would simply be another bonus for the N&Z...for it meant having a reliable trading partner and a solid company with a good name to cooperate with within the region.

All Tertius had to do now, was wait...await an answer to the invitation and perhaps prepare for a tour and a proper conversation with the Scrap King to gain the possibility of a deal which would make the both of them happy...

To : Mister Tertius C. Nargath Tertius C. Nargath

Mister Nargath, I appreciate the invitation to Bescane despite its....unusual matter. We typically do not run in the same circles nor do we share many of the same business contacts. I am aware of our time in the Corporate Interest Guild together but it seems many corporations are unwilling to influence commerce on a large scale beyond their own comfortable borders.

I am writing to confirm if this invitation was meant for myself or my son, Makai Dashiell? Please clarify intended business on Bescane and the proper Dashiell recipient.

Thank you,

-J.Dashiell

A response to the inquiry made by Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell would find itself in his correspondence on the holonet, a short, but quite succinct answer to the question he had posed, alongside with a bit of information in advance to further make it clear exactly who it was that was the intended recipient of the invitation.

Dear Sir Judah Dashiell,

Your inquiry has made me aware that we have indeed made the unfortunate omission of specifying which of your honored family's members we had intended to contact in the matters concerning our project at Bescane. As such, in order to clarify who the missive and thus the invitation had been intended for.

As the Bescane Project, a planet-wide reformation on a never-before seen scale within the region is essentially an industrial project, with the goal of setting up a much larger scope of manufacturing capacity beyond those it already has, we are aware that the expansion of our industrial patrimonium on Bescane would also see the need for partners who may have specialties which are beyond our own capacities and whose efficiency would be a boon to the very nature and progress of the Bescane Project. In this case, we are talking about the fact that with the aforementioned upscaling of the planet and most likely the entire sector's future capacity for industrial manufacturing and engineering. We foresee that such an expansion would bring with itself a whole host of efficiency and ecology problems such as waste management, scrapping and recycling in order to avoid any backlog of overproduction and loss of potential reusable materials.

We have come to the conclusion that you, Sir @Judah Dashiell are to be trusted as the foremost expert when it comes to the recycling, scrapping and redistributing of materials. It is in this capacity that the N&Z Umbrella Corporation wishes to contact you in order to provide you with a provisory consultant position alongside with a potentially lucrative contract in regards to scrapping and recycling materials on Bescane, but most likely also in many other sectors in which the N&Z operates and holds a distinctive production capacity.

With kind regards,

Tertius C. Nargath
Marquis of Valkan,
Chairman of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation board of Directors.

BESCANE

Bescane. An industrial planet.

Judah stood on a platform, watching the recycling of metals in front of him. Molten metal was being taken up in automatic bucket on a conveyer, moving into other parts of the massive complex. It wasn't an unusual sight, Salacia Consolidated had done this for years. An extremely common practice - he didn't merely just collect the salvage but also refined it.

Sweltering heat assaulted him as he waited. Again, he was used to wearing business suits in these areas. Always an amusing image but it had to be done. Image and reputation.

Waiting for whoever was supposed to meet him, hands slipped into his pockets as he observed the process.

Footsteps could be heard behind Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell , when two people calmly walked through one of the exits towards the platform. Tertius was present ofcourse, and the woman who had seemingly been this ever-present shadow in his wake: Amalia Visconti, the so-called personal assistant.

Unlike his usual purple suits with that traditional veneer of faux-military style mixed with aristocratic grandeur, this time the head of House Nargath seemed to be wearing a much more elegant and more restrained style of suit, with colors Judah might have never seen him wear either in any prior meeting, confrontation or negotatiation.

"Sir Judah, welcome," At first it looked like the marquis wanted to try and shake the industrialist's hand, but quietly and quite quickly seemed to refrain from presenting his hand in full, considering perhaps their relation was not exactly on good enough terms to allow for such a friendly greeting between the two. "I am glad you have decided to come pay us a visit, though before we cover ourselves with our monotonous and serious corporate masks, I do wish to ask you how you are doing and if the family is fairing well."

Letting out a sigh, the Chairman of the N&Z looked over the sprawling industrial network overlaid accross Bescane, his eyes peering into the heavens, where the masterpiece of the N&Z's shipbuilding was located; a massive ring around the entire planet with enough capacity to build thousand if not tens of thousands of ships at the same time.

"I am quite curious...what are your thoughts currently in regards to my request?"

BESCANE

Judah reached out to shake the Marquis' hand but it was withdrew quickly, as if he changed his mind all too quickly. A disappointment as Judah preferred a solid greeting when meeting someone, but he had to remind himself of cultural differences as well. Instead, the salvager placed his hand back into his pocket.

"You can just call me Judah, Marquis. The sir is quite unnecessary. The family is fine, thank you for asking. How is everyone in your inner circle? Faring well during this shake up in the Core?"

A fair question to ask, since it was the largest news story in the 'verse at the moment.

"The request of coming to Bescane? I am confused. I am well aware of how the refining process works - I have countless refineries of my own. This process looks standard, unless I am missing something? A minor technique that could save thousands?"

"My core... let's just say that with the changes wrought by this darn planetshift, I have people I never wanted to see breathing at my doorstep and people I never wanted to miss living across the whole of the galaxy," A sour joke, but it perfectly illustrated the mindset of Tertius in this new galactic reality, where billions were displaced, found themselves in new regions with new perspective, new dreams, new hopes, new fears and new problems. "Politically and economically though, the engine keeps turning, the credits keep transferring, our path remains."

Nodding when Judah mentioned owning countless refineries, Tertius pointed at the clearly visible massive ring within the sky, visible both at night and casting its indellible shadow upon the surface in the brightest of days. "It is that expertise of yours that we need right here, Judah."

With Amalia walking up towards Judah, she tapped upon a see§through screen held within a delicate frame and handed it over to the Dashiell, the screen displaying a whole heap of numbers and names, minerals and alloys, each listed with certain percentages and even cost calculations...

Ersteel 145 78% reclaim grade, 22% loss, increased impurities 2-6%
Ersteel 1333 67% reclaim grade, 33% loss, increased impurities 3-5%
Ersteel SLCA 87% reclaim grade, 13% loss, increased impurities 2-3%

The list continued, with mainly the known alloys of the N&Z's massive industries listed as being somewhat troublesome to either reclaim in their normal state from the recycling and scrapping process, or through recreating the alloys through resmelting reclaimed base minerals into the alloys after processing of the materials. While the initial numbers shouldn't have looked all that bad to anyone who didn't know much about recycling, to a company as the N&Z, the losses which had been noted in terms of tonnage and resource cost were in truth rather disastrous, especially with the size of the industrial complex on Bescane and the operational costs tied to the recycling and scrapping programs.

"As you may be able to see...we're making too many losees in terms of material after the recycling processes," The Marquis let out a sigh, because he had to swallow his pride in this case. Sure, through some nifty engineering and skillful use of wastematerials the N&Z had managed to come up with the insanely practical power plants and fuel refinery combinations, but those only happened to be a small drop on a large hot plate, for infinium which was used in the F.A.R. reactors was relatively small change compared to the insane quantities of ersteel which left the company's many foundries and stood for nearly 75% of all the material needs of the conglomeration. "Your expertise is what we wish to attract, rely upon if you will. I'd rather hope to convince you to invest with your companies into the future of Bescane, by setting up shop here and effectively running the entirety of the recycling plants and scrapping yards. We've already considered setting up new facilities on nearby planets for your use if expansion is needed."

Tilting his head a bit, the Marquis showed a thin, faint smile on his face. "I know you and I have not been...on best terms when it comes to our personal ideologies and modus operandi, but surely, as a businessman... you'd be capable of seeing the profit, if not the progress your decision in this matter might entail not only for Bescane, but the worlds far beyond even the braxant run."

Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell

Looking over the readouts, he nodded slowly. Judah already pinpointed the problem, the problem he would happily share with Tertius C. Nargath Tertius C. Nargath as it wasn't a secret. Or maybe part of the problem, he hadn't surveyed the entire facility yet, just what he had been allowed to see on initial arrival. A small nod as he listened though, taking in the information and rotating it around in his mind.

"First, it sounds as if you aren't sorting the salvaged or metals ready for recycling correctly. Or its the wrong type for the formula you're trying to achieve. I would recommend a retraining of staff."

If the Marquis even had actual staff. Then it would be a recalibration of optical sensors and various scanners on the conveyor line. He personally employed a mixture of both.

"Secondly, this is a consulting contract? Or am I buying the facility out from underneath you?"
