Initially, the REC/SP01 Firehawk Starfighter-Interceptor was designed to inevitably replace the entirety of the Thyrsian Hierarchy’s fast attack craft, leaving them with some of the most technologically advanced Strike Craft in the Galaxy. However, the Supreme Sun Guardian wished to see how these starships operated in battle first, before seeing his entire Starfighter Corps replaced with these technological terrors. Thus, when the Firehawk was pushed into production, it was made in small enough numbers to suit the nascent ranks of the newly forged Lightsworn. The Starfighter would serve as the personal craft of his Emissaries as they scoured the stars, either discharging their ordained tasks with merciless impunity or bringing news of satrapies brought into the fold.
When it came to the fundamental design of the Starfighter-Interceptor itself, the exterior plating was mostly coated by laser-reflective panels. Though this “mirror-reflective” surface was capable of redirecting the lethality of energy weapons, it was incapable of withstanding the unbridled ferocity of heavy laser cannons, and disruptor-based weaponry. The reasoning there was that the plating could only absorb and redirect so much energy before the plating itself was compromised. With disruptors, however, nothing could truly protect themselves from a weapon that superheated and exciting matter on a molecular scale, effectively rendering the affected object back into its component parts - dust. Yet, despite this lack of protection against the heavier variant of energy weapons, the Firehawk found itself highly resistant to standard laser cannons and almost entirely immune to energy-based small arms.
The panels, which were blended into the armoured hull plating, also disrupted communications when coating a vessel in their entirety. It was with such a drawback in mind that a majority of the Strike Craft was bathed in the Laser-reflective panels, leaving the Communications module free from such protective boons.
In addition to the “mirror-esque” panels, the defensive capabilities of the Firehawk received an indescribable boon after their standard shield generator was replaced by a Xythan Force Shield, with accompanying Particle and Concussion barriers. With this new projected bulwark, the Starfighter-Interceptor was given the ability to strike back at its quarry, no matter the angle of approach they took until the capacitors collapsed. However, such a capability wasn’t done through maneuvering weapons. Instead, such technological capabilities bequeathed the ability to return the lethality of an energy weapon back from whence it came, effectively utilizing the arms of their would-be killers against them. Naturally, such a barrier didn’t work against projectile weaponry such as kinetic kill-rods, or concussion missiles.
Rounding out the newest additions to the sweeping, and aesthetically pleasing design of the Firehawk, was the SLAM system that was integrated into the craft’s spaceframe. Through the inclusion of this module, the Firehawk was capable of pushing it’s sublight engines past their safe governed limits, effectively catapulting their vessel across the stars. Despite the accelerating boon that was granted by the integrated module, it was effectively a double-edged sword, for the Starfighter’s weapon systems would be rendered inoperable. While that wasn’t ideal in the grand scheme of things, the momentary burst of speed was perfect for adrenaline-addicted pilots, seeking to soar across the stars at neck-breaking speeds.
With the additions as mentioned above and an innumerable list of others, the Firehawk laid claim to being one of the most technologically advanced Starfighters in the Galaxy. All that was left was for the Starfighter-Interceptor to prove that it was the best, rather than make wordless claims.
