DESCRIPTION
There was little to be said about the mythical Gorgon, as it took on many shapes and names throughout history. All that could be said, however, was that the Gorgon was a monster of unparalleled destruction; for all that stood in its wake was left petrified, or destroyed. It was this mythical creature that the architects of Republic Engineering sought to name their newest tool of destruction after. Much like the creature it was named after, the REC-MA/01 Mobile Artillery Platform; Gorgon Pattern would leave a trail of utter devastation in its gargantuan and trundling wake. Thanks in part to it’s bulk and size, the Mobile Artillery Platform was too heavy to outfit with a Repulsorlift suite - especially with the intended array of modular weapons. If the design team had sought to equip the Gorgon with repulsorfield generators, it was likely that the lethality of their weapons wouldn’t match the desired output due to much needed power being drawn elsewhere.

When it came to their weapons, the most notable thing about the Gorgon was it’s versatile turret mounting; which allowed for multiple armament options to be installed to fit multiple mission profiles. Naturally, the Gorgon could only fit one of these variants in the turreted slot at a time, but each of those options would prove to be the best weapons available. From Super-heavy Mass-drivers to advanced energy weapon variants, the Gorgon was outfitted with a selection of weapons that would be capable of laying siege to Prefabricated Fortresses, or even Low-hanging Capital Ships with relative measures of success. With such power in the hands of so few, the Gorgon - just by its armament alone - would make an invaluable addition to the armouries of countless Militaries of Interstellar Nations looking for Super-heavy Vehicles that can pack quite the punch.

It’s defences were no laughing matter either, as the Gorgon was outfitted with heavy armour plating and deflector shielding. While it wasn’t an impregnable bastion, it was a moving Fortress that was capable of utterly obliterating it’s opposition. To their prospective buyers, this alone would be enough to convince them to make the purchase. However, Republic Engineering sought to sweeten the deal with even more features that’d make their Clientele clamour of bulk orders. The Gorgon was outfitted with an integrated Siege mode functionality, which allowed the Vehicle to super-charge it’s defences, and enhance the lethality of it’s primary weapon. But, this functionality came at a cost, however. When the Siege-mode was activated, the maneuverability and mobility of the Gorgon was significantly reduced to a stand-still, making it quite the dual-edged sword.

From there, the Gorgon was capable of acting as a Super-heavy Troop Transport, and Vehicle Carrier. It’s upper levels were dedicated to supporting an entire Platoon of Troopers with automated armouries, a retractable barracks, and a small vehicle bay that was capable of carrying two Massiff-Pattern ATSV’s within it’s armoured hold. From there, the Upper Deck had several hermetically-sealed exits that bled out onto an armoured concourse, where two anti-personnel turrets would be located on the other side of the Roving Fortress. These weapons would add their firepower to the overall armament, making the Super-heavy Vehicle a danger to any and all that would dare assault it’s armoured hide.
