Ravaged Spirit (Anja)

Evan Kenner

The Wrong Side of Heaven
Evan laid his head down on the dashboard in the cockpit of his Jed-Class Heavy Starfighter. Having just finished recording the message to send to Riuku warning him of the Republic's betrayal, Evan now had time to think about himself. Ouch...the pain... Evan did not refer to any of his physical injuries.

The heartbreak of betrayal...

He lifted his head and looked around at the...walls? It was hyperspace. Hard to describe. Evan set course to the first set of coordinates he saw on screen when escaping the unjust grasp of the Testament. He didn't even know what it was.

Finally, the ship shook and exited hyperspace.

The vastness of space stretched out before him. What? Where is this? Ugh, I must have mis-typed the coordinates... Evan looked down at the screen on the starboard side of the cockpit, inputting new coordinates. Maybe i'll go to Tattoine...I hear a lot of outlaws go there to hide.

Traversing the dark abyss, a lone star destroyer drifted along the unmapped hyperlanes in Primeval space.

Aboard the warship, Anja Aj'Rou was going along with [member="Jared Ovmar"] on a journey that lacked any explanation. Even if they were to explain it to an outsider it would be as confusing and crazy as any tale, that was the nature of The Primeval and the Wild Space in which they inhabited. What could be understood, however, is that you wouldn't want a four thousand meter vessel trailing your much, much smaller starfighter.

On the bridge officers were hard at work. It took several dozen to just navigate the vessel, many more to operate and maintain the other functions as well.

"We're detecting a small ship... It just jumped out of hyperspace." One of the sensory officers reported their findings to the starship's captain who in turn relayed the news to Anja.

Jared was somewhere else, as he always seemed to be, so command fell to her. "Do we know whose it is?"

"Looks like it's Republic, maybe Jedi?"

"Bring it in."

The Chrysalide had ten tractor beam generators, a fearsome amount which could hold light cruisers should they get caught. A starfighter, being much smaller, would have no hope of escaping its grasp should they be caught in its pull. The warship carried an assortment of fighters that was to say the least--beyond anything in anyone's arsenal. The battlecruiser was truly unique, and fearsome. How Jared was able to get his hands on such a vessel was a question Anja would ask on another day, for now she left him to his own devices and appreciated the value of such a warship under her temporary command.

More pressing matters were on her mind. Whoever was out there in that starfighter, she was curious to know why they were here.

Evan finished punching in new coordiniates to Tattoine when he looked up and saw the enormous vessel.

"...No nononononoNONONONONO!! Of ALL the places!"

Evan pulled back on the joystick to fly into an evasive maneuver, but the starfighter immedeatly ceased movement and started flying toward the Star Destroyer. Evan slammed his fist onto the side of the cockpit in frustration, "I karking swear, escape one and fly straight into the next..." Evan started to type in more orders

"A.I., hail this vessel..."

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

"We're being hailed," the comm officer was the second to chime in.

Anja's curiosity only grew, "put them through." She ordered. In only a moment communication between the two vessels was established, however no visual was offered of the Host Lord or any member of the ship's crew; it was a purely verbal network. On his end he'd only hear a faint static, no message or formal declarations were granted.

Back on the bridge, Anja awaited to hear from the unknown individual but the tractor beams did not cease pulling the ship towards one of its many hangars, the big guns were already locking on should they need to destroy the starfighter instead.

Evan was a bit surprised when the hail went through.

"...Er- U-Unidentified Star Destroyer...why are you tractoring me in? What is the purpose of this? I am not affiliated with the Galactic Republic, if that is why."

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

An oddly straight-forward response, to say the least.

"Are you going to respond, Your Worship?" The comm officer asked of the Host Lord what she wished to do.

Anja sat quietly, patiently thinking to herself on the subject. For the crew this was quite awkward, it was a single starfighter so they couldn't help but wonder why she was putting so much thought into the event. If she ordered them to they could destroy it, if she desired it they would force the pilot from their vessel.

Finally her pause came to an end, "End transmission. Bring their vessel aboard and have them sent to a cell." The officers followed their orders, a security team made its way to the hangar; prepared to apprehend the stranger and take them to a prison cell.

TRANSMISSION ENDED

"What?!" Evan yelled, watching as the Star Destroyer grew closer and closer. He could new clearly see the hangar he was about to be tractored into. Evan laid his head back down on the dashboard and closed his eyes, the hate, anger, and confusion coarsing through his veins. His fists clenched as the Dark Side surrounded him freely.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

Anja remained on the bridge, the security team arrived at the hangar as the ship nearly pulled the starfighter in.

The cell was prepared for the prisoner and the guards were cautious of any attempts to fight them, of course it wasn't easy to predict who someone was... If they were truly a Jedi there was no telling what might happen and the security forces weren't experts in fighting force users. Besides Anja and Jared, the flagship had no who used the force.

The ship's defenses were still online, in case the starfighter tried anything as it drifted towards the hangar.

Evan closed his eyes, reaching out and, metaphorically, touching the star destroyer with the Force, feeling for any powerful sources of the Force. He felt none, which could be a result of there being none on board or his lack of training in meditation.

May the Dark Side guide me through yet another certain-death situation...

His starfighter touched down. He looked out with his eyes outside the cockpit and saw a few guards around the hangar. He pulled his petty training lightsaber off of his belt and held it, waiting to see if the guards will make the first move.

What I lack in training, I make up for in faith in the Dark Side...i'm not afraid to use it against...what even are these aliens?

Evan didn't recognize the Umbarans.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

The security team awaited the new arrival, their guns were brandished outwards in an entirely hostile manner. Of the group one stepped forward, a uniformed man with no weapons save for the holstered pistol at his hip. Clearly the leader of the forces behind him, he stood tall and proud like many arrogant officers who sought favour and recognition for being in the service to great masters. Of them not all were Umbaran, save for the personal guards of Anja that came with.

As a former Fringe Confederation ship it still maintained a crew of various species that were compatible with the technology; almost all were near-human if not entirely. The figure looked to the fighter, before turning back and signalling for his men to surround the craft.

The Wrong Side of Heaven
Evan remained in the cockpit of his fighter, head bowed and eyes closed. He took deep breaths, as if attempting to find his comfort zone in this less-than-comfortable position he has been pulled into. Who are these people? Are they wanderers who stake claim over any space they pass, like those old Vagaari? Maybe that's what they are...

All of a sudden, Evan felt as if the Dark Side was communicating with him. It had no voice, no thoughts, no presence. Only feeling.

Passion.

If the guards peered inside of the cockpit, they would find Evan surrounded by a dark red aura, burning off of his body like flames. The weak-minded and weak-willed may find themselves feeling a deep, passionate fear of what lies inside of the starfighter.

Evan tightened his grip over his pitiful jedi training lightsaber. A 'weapon' incapable of killing would only serve as a defense in this situation. He would have to bring death to the enemy with the standard-issue Republic blaster pistol he took from the guards of the warship Testament.

Make the first move...I dare you

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

The guards surrounded the starfighter with their weapons drawn. Most were carrying blaster rifles but running up the middle was a team of two who together assembled a laser cannon similar in shape and size to an E-WEB. This was intended to disable the starfighter before he had any chance to use its weapons inside the hangar itself, of course that was so they could keep him alive. The internal defenses existed in the form of four turrets -- each on either corner of the ceiling -- which could easily destroy his ship should the orders be given.

With the laser cannon assembled, the team took positions. Approaching from the left was the officer seen from earlier. "Attention pilot, you will give yourself up and come out unarmed or we will fire on your vessel." He began speaking through a communication device. "You have thirty seconds to comply."

I won't go down without a fight

Evan opened up the cockpit and used the Force to leap out. Mid-air, he drew his blaster pistol from his hip in his left hand and ignited his blue training lightsaber in his main hand. Before landing, he fired at a few of the guards.

Once his feet hit the deck, he quickly darted around the hangar, attempting to stun some more guards with his saber, firing his blaster at others as he did so. He tried to keep moving in order to outrun any blaster bolts fired at him, but expected it wouldn't save him in the long run.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

The soldiers found themselves taken by surprise, of course they were cautious about force users but that didn't make it any easier when you faced one. Quickly they realized the lightsaber was only the training variant and did not provide a lethal threat to their forces but the blaster was a different story; still it made things easier. He was quick, but not quick enough that the security team was entirely overwhelmed. As they fired their shots the team took up a formation and set their blasters to stun.

The blue beams shot outward in a web-like pattern, such attacks could only be dodged and experienced Jedi would know that the stun blasts cannot be blocked by a lightsaber and only Barabel have a natural defense against the attacks. Meanwhile, Anja remained on the bridge unaware of the situation unfolding.

Naturally, Evan being the novice he is, would attempt to deflect the stun blasts, but not only would fail, he would also be overwhelmed. As quickly as he had unleashed himself upon the enemy, he would be riddled with stun blasts.

Dammit, no! Why ca-

Evan dropped his saber and blaster before collapsing onto the deck, falling unconscious from the stun.

The guards rushed to apprehend the Jedi, dragging him off and to another area of the starship. Some time would pass and the warship continued to drift through Wild Space, when he awoke he'd find himself inside a holding cell deep within the ship and a mysterious woman, Anja, standing in front of him; looking through the energy barrier that kept him locked inside. There were no guards surrounding her, in fact it was only them in the room with their thoughts and the force.

If he did try to force his way through the barrier he'd find it quite painful.

[member="Evan Kenner"]

Evan Kenner

The Wrong Side of Heaven
After flying with pirates for most of his childhood, Evan knew what an energy barrier was and knew how painful it was to touch. This, along with common sense, is why Evan did not try to force his way out.

Evan scanned the small cell he sat in, finding nothing of note and looking out beyond the barrier at the woman. This one is different...the Dark Side is strong with her... He noticed his weapons had been taken from him, obviously. He was no stranger to being arrested. Evan made the inference that he was now a prisoner of the Sith. Who else would randomly tractor in a republic starship and apprehend the pilot? At least, Evan didn't think the Republic was at war with anyone else. Not to mention the strong Dark Jedi that stood before him.

Instead of asking questions, Evan sat cross-legged on the floor of his cell and stared up at the woman in silence. He figured she would explain why he was here.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

Anja stared through the barrier rather curiously, the Umbaran's pale eyes had just as piercing a gaze as ever. It was almost an eerie stare; no emotions conveyed and staring into them revealed nothing about the person or what they might be thinking but she stared into his red orbs without blinking. It was a silent stare, no words came from her mouth and neither did she breathe loudly enough to be heard. Aside from the ambiance of the starship's inner workings and the buzz of the energy barrier no sounds existed at all.

Finally she broke through that silence, "You have a name, tell it." She demanded from him a rather simple piece of information. She honestly didn't care if he answered or not, merely she was judging how cooperative he intended to be from the start. Some prisoners, much like [member="Keira Ticon"], took it upon themselves to be as difficult as possible for no logical reason at all. Others, like [member="Kiber Dorn"], were submissive and hoped that by complying entirely they'd get through it that much quicker.

Who he'd be and how he'd act was not something she knew ahead of time, even the Prophet had to discover things the same way as everyone else; by learning.

"You have a name, tell it"

Evan was silent for a moment until a grin spread widely across his face.

"Ladies first."

Evan was sure this woman could probably hurt him, but maybe she had a sense of humor. Or maybe he would learn the hard way that she didn't.

[member="Anja Aj'Rou"]

Anja just stood there as still as she was before, even as time went by her muscles didn't seem to ache from being in place for so long. Her posture was proper but she wasn't particularly tall nor did she seem remarkably strong in any physical form, she was in most meanings of the word quite average.

"I wasn't asking you," she retorted to his remark. "If you have no name then you don't," she added. Whether or not he answered didn't matter much to her but it seemed he wasn't going to be fully cooperative; at least not for now.

The Host Lord took two steps closer to the barrier, "Your ship is from The Republic?" She asked.
